Made from metal clay (brass) this Kogo or incense container is in the shape of a book; an ancient book that survived the burnings at Alexandria and the dark ages. A book that told the story of the Pagan sun god, Sol Invictus, the Invincible Sun. The god celebrated during Saturnalia and the Winter Solstice Festivities. This Kogo was used to hold the incense at our annual Winter Solstice Chaji (tea ceremony). Also, the poetic theme for 2015 (in Japan) is "Book", so it ties with that as well.
