A tribute to structural engineering. Tensile forces held in check by minimal materials, much to admire.
Galvanised steel bar transformed to functions of a physical equation that graphs an octet of perfect catenary arcs across the valley. Beauty from purpose, with enough strength for the task, and no more.

Another from the fantastic Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland where they've suspended a giant ball form the ceiling - lends itself to some nice photographic opportunities (as well as some funny looks).

This chickadee came at the tree from below, perching in this seemingly awkward position. Didn't seem to bother it, though! At the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.

An abstract and minimalist view of the apartments at 100 Spadina Ave. Probably my favorite example of modernist residential tower architecture from the 1960/s, designed by Uno Prii (1969).
False potato beetle... didn't know what this bug was but looked up on Google and it said it was the false potato beetle. Maybe someday I'll find the true one :-)

This day in 2014 was a good one! In yesterday's Twister A2A pic, I mentioned that the Extra 300 wasn't the ideal camera-ship for A2As - UNLESS you were inverted. As crazy as it sounds, Mark Jefferies flew me through two full laps of Sakhir AB and the Bahrain International Circuit chasing the DHL Display Team (Extra pair + 757) almost entirely inverted!
In this close-up shot, Chris Burkett's Extra sits just off the wing-tip of the 757.
Definitely one of the more exhilarating shoots I've been involved with!
A rainwater puddle before a lonely tree. I inverted the image :-)

A series of inverted reflection images taken on a recent still morning at Hobart harbour.
Straight out of the camera. No photoshop filters or additions.

Wondering if I could create a silhouette for Crazy Tuesday - I couldn't!! But I did get this, which I really like!
Sunday morning pe-sunrise and the very edge of the fog camped out over Castleton and the Hope Valley viewed from Mam Tor.
At the risk of turning into a one trick pony, here is yet another picture from my weekend trip to the North Fork of the Flathead.
I titled this "Inverted" because it is a contrast to the last picture I posted, which featured the bright colors of a sunrise and light behind these same peaks. This picture was taken during the blue hour after sunset, and a dark cloud sets off the peaks rather than colorful light. I removed all of the color (which was actually quite blue) just to see how the effect worked.
The park keeper's house (visitors call it the hobbit house). Park workers store their inverter here. I would like to note that the workers are doing their job: the paths and benches have been cleared of snow, numerous feeders for squirrels and birds are filled with food.
(I, like many people in Russia, mourn the death of Alexei Navalny, and today the famous photographer Dmitry Markov died (under unknown circumstances). In order to relieve the mental pain, I decided to edit at least some photograph...)
