The Hall of the Abencerrages and the Hall of the Two Sisters, located on the South and North side of the Court of the Lions respectively, are two of the most beautiful spaces created in the history of Islamic Architecture.
Three basic elements constitute the structural core of these vaulted spaces: the squared hall; the circular or polygonal dome; and the drum, and intermediate element that enables the transition the transition from the square shape to the circular base of the dome. In order to support the diagonal sides of the drum, squinches are usually added. This passage from the square to the circle symbolizes the journey from the Earth to the Sky.
The principle behind the extremely complex appearance of these structures is the use of a prismatic modular element known as muqarna. The more than 5,000 pieces that conform the visible part of the dome of the Hall of the Two Sisters -the biggest structure of its kind in the world- were originally prisms made of plaster that were then carved at an extremity. The modules were then assembled in the form of an immense puzzle to create a continuous surface. Each one of the individual pieces was finally sculpted and painted.
The masterful work of the Moorish artisans who once crafted these domes shines with alluring detail and geometrical perfection still to this day. In the Alhambra, however, nothing is as simple as it seems. The geometrical solution actually adopted in both cases purposely breaks the octagonal symmetry of the ceiling in an almost invisible way precisely under the chechia, at the very vertex of the dome. As we already know, perception and reality are not always aligned.
Zaanse Schans, Zaandam, Noord-Holland, Nederlands
Starting in 1961, historic buildings, windmills, barns and houses from across the Dutch Zaan region were brought to Zaanse Schans in pieces and reassembled. The town is now a very popular tourist destination to view 18th and 19th century Dutch life.

A once beautiful house has fallen into disrepair, a victim of abandonment, neglect and possibly progress.

• There is a Myth that Mermaids are born from the innocent women who drowned from being thrown overboard for it was a belief women brought bad luck. As they sink to the ocean floor they are transformed. Reborn to seek revenge.

Second big job on a portrait, using all the different technics I had learnt : dodge and burn, frequency separation, Hue and Saturation, Noise, Highlights, Shadows, playing and making a dedicated background with a DIY vignetting.
Feel free to comment please, from bad to good comments, I would appreciate it !

A Photoshoot I had yesterday! Was shot with the Hasselblad 500c with Natural Day lighting. Used the Sonnar 150mm F4 CF T* lens.
Did a long wanted/awaited Fran cosplay thanks to evermore giving me the last few pieces! Thanks again!
Unable to decide the final frame of this shot... Therefore, I put the 2 frames I prefer.

A digital painting I did in Photoshop CS. I limited my tools to just a hard round brush & eraser & painted it freehand, using minimal layers & an Intuos 2
Dear Friends,
I can't believe it's been almost two months since my last upload.
Life has been extremely busy and it's hard for me to keep up with everything.
I have been shooting many sunrises in these last weeks: I am concentrating on new projects which need a lot of dedication.
This is an image from my four days in Brighton in September: the Michael Levin workshop has been a fantastic experience, meeting him was inspiring and everything even exceeded my high expectations!!!
I am now trying to bring my photography to a new level; I will concentrate just on my 'perfect' images: expect very few uploads!
By the way, I have tried an Intuos tablet and I think I will never come back to the mouse for the accurate processings; I couldn't believe the difference it makes!
Hope you all are doing great and I really apologize for being that absent lately. I missed you all!!!

Thanks to him !
After many months of closed schools, the time has come for kids to go back to their natural place. So every morning they arrive, others on foot, others by bus, by car or... on their magic pencil! Full disclosure, there may be others that are even more excited for the open schools than the kids. You guessed it, it’s the parents!

You have to see it REALLY large to take it all in....
This piece is an homage to two of my favorite flickr artist/friends, Giuseppe Parisi (G2 Studio) and Mattijn Franssen (Mattijn). The digital matte painting aspect is inspired by Giuseppe, the presence of me, today in a hood, and my pug Meeka, as well as some of the compositional elements are inspired by Mattijn. Thanks for the inspiration guys, and keep up the great work!
This took about 24 hours to complete, not including the time it took to take the photos. The mountains were hand painted using my Intuos 3 Tablet and textured with source photographs.
The complete image contains 56 layers.
This is one of the hardest images that I have done so far. Mainly because I have not really practiced hand painting enough, but that was kind of the idea for this image, practice. Lucky for me I am on vacation so I have the time to veg out in front of my computer for three days straight. lol.
While i went through yesterdays shots in Adobe Bridge the shots of this steel girder of which i have about 30 jumped out at me and while Norma was saying yesterday that my last upload was maybe my best yet i was confident that i could top that. Anyway as me and Allan England an a rotation policy :P at the HAven on Sunday morning he was at this spot first but i didnt think he had managed to get a shot as the tide was lower when he was doing the North shift. Anyhoo low and behold a beautiful shot pops up on FB today by Allan and its nearly the same lol.
It seems we've both been effected in the same way by Dave Brightwell and his awesome ability to find some kind of great FG interest. I thought Allan wouldve been happy with his giant log but no, he soon got bored of that when he seen this girder :D
I have to say it was a great morning, a stunning sunrise and all the better for the fact that so many people were out nearby shooting and captured it :)
In this shot i think i mightve used the Kood ND4, i defo used the Lee 0.9 Soft Grad and the Hitech 0.9 Reverse Grad which was really good in these conditions. It really helps hold back the sun just before or after it pops up.
With this shot ive done very little in the way of PP. I straightened the lighthouse which was well conkey :O, i added a light grad of +1 EV in Adobe Camera Raw to the upper part of the sky then using a non destructive tekker on a 50 grey layer i did something else... can you guess?
Its something subtle but adds to the image. I used the Wacom Intuos 5 to do it and doubt it would be very easy without it.
I have to say after my first try with the Wacom i put it down and hadnt touched it for over a month as i bloody hated it but after a bit of perseverence im getting there and finding hings that it can do that you just cant do with a mouse! Thing is with a mouse its either off or on 100% whereas with the Pen you have 2000 levels of sensitivity. For example if you wanted to paint a line you can set it so that if you press lightly it does a fine line but if you press harder the line goes wider.
Great for this... something i need in my latest venture (watch this space)
So today in Photoshop ive learned the following...
How to change my brush size with the bracket keys.
How to switch between Black & White using 'X'
How to create a 50% Grey Layer in which you can non destructively Dodge & Burn. (I did already know this but sortve forgot a little part lol)
How to dodge & burn using Black & White instead of the actual Dodge & Burn Tool.
How to change the layer Opacity by using the number keys along the top of the keyboard.
I will forget all of this by the time i upload my next photo lol
Thanks for looking and please check out Allan's Stream. Also if you look at my last upload you can see everyone else's shots from various NE locations from yesterdays sunrise.
Sometimes I wish I had a massage team.. Minipandabears could be perfect, they are so professional...
Well, another shot made in this beautiful place with my beautiful model... What else ?
The sun was hard. I used the flash to open the shadows the best I could.
I have a brand new toy :D
[this is a test for a project about holy pictures and their "dark side" :)]
Photoshop illustration for Dragontongues. If everything goes right than I'm gonna paint this on wall too.
A tribute to Audrey Kawasaki
This was done in Photoshop and Wacom Intuos. To be honest, I'm feeling stuck with anything related to academic. I study Fine Arts for my Masters degree and I feel completely tied up. Nothing motivational or inspirational at the moment, so I had to dig and dig in the stuff that I love most. I am a huge fan of Audrey KAwasaki and I decided to use Secondlife as a base for this image. Also, this just gave me an idea for my upcoming final project, which I will be using Secondlife as a media. Ray Caesar has also been my all time reference. Enjoy! :)
So much to learn , not enough hours in a day , I have some Horse photos I need to finish while trying some new plug ins for photoshop , Gimp , Corel Painter IX , Intuos Wacom 9 X 12 Graphic tablet , Vue 6 Esprit and the list goes on , and all of those on a Mac from a PC with no formal training .
I find it hard to have the discipline to sit down take a book or a video tutorial and learn if I mix it with Flickr , sooooooooo Training the doguettes is still #1 followed closely by #2 , learning more technical stuff with this endless digital world .
I know I will post once in a while but my comments will be rare for a uncertain amount,,,
