Another view of my wonderfully cluttered office.
Eye spy: a magic marker, a pirate treasure, a smiley face, a sad face, four ladies, wire clippers , the USS Enterprise, A Wacom intuos pen, 9 kings of Men, a former preseident, the word "crab", a fictional secret society logo, an unclaimed expense receipt from March, a political cartoon from 1907.
This isn't my finest work but it ought to be the amount of time I have spent on it! I wanted to create an image showing Urban Decay. I found this image on the hard drive. Originally it had a lovely blue sky and sunshine. I have just bought a Wacom Intuos 5 graphics tablet and pen. Having used a mouse for years it is strange painting in layer masks etc using a pen! So this is one of the first photo's I have posted using that tool. I have blurred the background in Photoshop to show the seagulls on the posts. Not sure if I like it but my wife does, it is certainly different to what I normally post!

No, these are not Ku Klux Klan members! Not at all! Cross my heart! As sinister as they may look, these are actually Catholic cucuruchos, who predate the KKK for at least 1000 years. Cucuruchos ("cones", more or less) are so named because of the shape of their hats, which may or may not cover the face of the wearer, depending on the parish they belong to. During processions, they take turns carrying andas (platforms decorated with religious imagery related to Easter) on their shoulders, as a form of penance. Processions are a very important part of the Catholic Holy Week celebrations in Latin America and Spain.
I've always had trouble using color properly. While making this image, I came across some videos regarding color which became very useful, specially regarding the use of saturation as a way to guide the viewer. I applied some of their tips and I really think it helped the illustration quite a bit. 11 x 17 inches, digital.

Stuck in this mental rut, Vision nearly misses the woman dressed in a warm coat and skirt who stops to stare at him from across the street. He has to double check even when he looks close, so surprised to finally see her familiar face again. His eyesight is superior to a human’s, capable of picking up and honing in on details from a greater distance; even without this ability he can see the shock on her face that confirms there is no one else this woman could be. It’s the face he has seen a thousand times over in his memories, his dreams – his nightmares. The last time he saw her she was looking into his eyes, hope and grief and fear and love all shining that he couldn’t see in that moment.
Her hair is dark again – not her natural brown, but closer to the shade it had been when he first saw her on the night he was born. It’s fitting, Vision thinks, this moment almost a reflection of their first encounter. Wanda Maximoff and The Vision, stuck in this endless loop...but Vision has found her at last. Maybe this time they can break that cycle. Maybe this time they can stay together.
Like a wary cat, her curiosity seems to overcome her shock and she crosses the street. His own mind and body freeze, suddenly uncertain what to say or do despite the hundreds of variables he has practised for and his imagined possibilities for how this scene may play out. He remains in place, trying to appear as unassuming and unthreatening as possible. Her eyes never leave his as she walks towards him. She comes to a halt just metres away, mouth slightly agape as if she can’t remember how to speak. Maybe she is just at a loss for words like he is. Vision swallows hard, looking up and attempting a smile as he settles on the safest, most basic greeting he can think of.
