"The preoccupation of humans with themselves hasn’t only been in fashion since the advent of yoga studios and meditation apps. Introspective and independent ways of thinking were, for example, already a central element of the way of life of Chinese scholars. Sima Guang, politician, historian and scholar of the Chinese Song dynasty, created a garden in the 11th century that was said to be particularly beneficial to this lifestyle: the Dule Yuan, translated as "Garden of Secluded Pleasure". In an essay he described the structure and landscape highlights of the garden. Since then, the Dule Yuan has maintained a pre-eminent position in Chinese horticultural history. The design of the garden is based on a painting by Dule Yuan from the 16th century. Its geometric axis structure is composed of a bamboo path, a rectangular plaza and a water channel. The garden's eye-catching and popular photo spot is the modern designed steel bamboo hut painted in gold, which blends in harmoniously with the gentle geometry of the surrounding garden landscape. The surrounding mirror surfaces create a vertical depth that blurs the boundary between man and nature. In the spirit of the Dule Yuan, the mirror surfaces are also intersections between reality and imagination, between seeing and being seen. This fluid awareness of space is what makes up the spiritual essence of Chinese gardens."

Dela (I Know Why The Dog Howls At The Moon)

One day I looked up and there you stood

Like a simple question looking for an answer

Now I am a whale listening to some inner call

Swimming blindly to throw myself upon your shores

But what if I don't find when I have landed

Would you leave me here to die on your shores stranded?

I think I know why the dog howls at the moon.

I think I know why the dog howls at the moon.

I say:

"Dela! Dela! Ngiyadela!

(Content, content I am content)

When I am with you!

Dela! Sondela mama!

(Closer, closer, come closer woman)

I burn for you!

I've been waiting for you all my life -- waiting for a miracle

I've been waiting day and night -- waiting for redemption

I burn for you

A blind bird sings inside the cage that is my heart

And the image of your face comes to me when I'm alone in the dark

If I could give a shape to this ache that I have for you

If I could find the voice that says the words that capture you

I think I know, I think I know

I think I know why the dog howls at the moon.

I say:

"Dela! Dela! Ngiyadela!

(Content, content I am content)

When I am with you!

Dela! Sondela mama!

(Closer, closer, come closer woman)

I burn for you!

next week is my birthday and i always get introspective around it, thoughtful about what i am doing with my life and who i am.

I’ve been in a reflective and introspective frame of mind lately. Many of my contacts might know by now I recently moved from the hustle and bustle of the giant metropolis of Toronto to the relative peace and quiet of the small town of Woodstock, Ontario (population 36,000), affectionately known as the “Dairy Capital of Canada”. My appreciation and affection grows each day for this lovely little community nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of farm country in southern Ontario.

A ten minute drive in any direction and I’m far away from any semblance of city life and deeply immersed in the myriad of farms, forests and concession roads. Gone are the intrusive noises of honking horns, pneumatic drills and the wailing sirens of emergency vehicles. They’ve been replaced with the much gentler and pleasing sounds of wild birds, crickets and farm animals. What a pleasant change!

The lovely farm with the beautiful pond depicted in this image is situated about 20 minutes from my new home and is typical of the countryside that now surrounds me. The lush green grass and trees are a welcome site on an afternoon drive and the fresh country air is invigorating, I love it!!

And taking time out to reflect on what has happened, and to come to terms with all you've seen, can bring immense joy (and immense pain) but through that, you can grow and learn.

For if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

This was taken at Jökulsárlón in the South-East of Iceland. It's a panoramic stitch taken from 5DmkII with Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/21 ZE Lens mounted on a tripod and carefully rotated in 5deg increments.

One day I'll get a proper panoramic head.

I sincerely apologise about the dirty watermark through the centre of the image, Mel Sinclair has had some trouble recently with people stealing her works, so we've (unfortunately) had to resort to doing stuff like this to try and prevent that from happening. Some people are dogs.

This is an image I took when I was doing the still photography on a short film called WUSS on IMDB www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=6ET6ibK...

Every image tells a story, but some images define a story. This portrait was chosen as the official poster image for the short film WUSS, capturing the essence of its tone and emotion. The expression in his eyes, the subtle tension in his expression/posture, and the cinematic lighting all contribute to a visual that speaks before a single word is spoken.

This image is not just a still, it’s a moment, a feeling, a preview of a larger narrative. Can a single frame capture the weight of a film? This one tries.

My days in Finland are counted. Who would have imagined that I could reach this far? I didn't, I honestly didn't.

I kind of knew that Finland was the type of place that I wanted to be at: distant, melancholic, proud, insecure, cold, slow, introspective and in a the process of defining an identity. I may be wrong, and this is just pure idealisation of my surroundings; everyone is right in its logic.

Zeph is a friend and colleague in my toastmasters group, where you can improve your public speaking. He kindly agreed to having a portrait taken and we had a blast. I came back with so many great portrait photos and if I am honest I am still struggling to pick the final one.

In the end I chose this one as I am focusing more on getting the environment into my portraits. I was particularly drawn to the hard lines all over this portrait broken by this introspective moment from Zeph.

I find that selfy ideas don't come easily to me, but once I do find inspiration, I find it really enjoyable to set up, shoot and edit them. Although selfies still make me uncomfortable!

Once a sturdy stairway climb up to "heavenly" views of a magnificent church sanctuary, this stairwell is now almost indistinguishable as a lifeless, barren dune of plaster dust and building debris. The Gary, Indiana Methodist church may be decades beyond any hope of resurrection; and, there is a very real risk that they entire site will be demolished for the hazard it continues to devolve into....but, that is precisely the quality that makes this site so compelling. More than the waste of amazing (and grand scale) architecture and resources, it is sad to consider that the fragile balance between life and death may soon be permanently tipped, and this strange and wonderful ruins exhibit could vanish. For the curious or introspective mind, this site is a magnificent find.

Might I suggest a fine ditty to compliment this dark, moody image? If you like Ray LaMontagne, this is one of his strongest songs (ever) - if you don't know Ray, you should:

Miriam admires her beautiful abs

I am in a reflective mood today so I pulled this image out of the archives. Alexis is such a beautiful woman and clearly lost in thought. You can see more of her in my set "Alexis". Best in lightbox.

Now it is the time of night

That the graves, all gaping wide,

Every one lets forth his sprite,

In the church-way paths to glide.

And we fairies, that do run

By the triple Hecate's team

From the presence of the sun,

Following darkness like a dream,

Now are frolic

I asked her to look sad...and maybe a little angry. Her expression will just pierce your soul - she looks very seductive and sensual to me. This is again from my archives from my first shoot with her in the summer of 2012. You can see more of her many moods and expressions in my set "Alexis". Best in lightbox. Proyecto: Fluye

Comienzo: 2016

This project was born due the desire to represent some of my moods, hence the title. I am very introverted and I hardly show what I feel, I found In these photos a way. It is the first introspective project I do, I used the "mixed media" technique Because it is what Seems To Me better suited to Represent my inner world. This project was an outlet to show what I could not describe in words.

Flora Couge captured in a serene portrait by Stephan Mosse. The soft lighting and minimalist background highlight her natural beauty and create a sense of quiet introspection.

Some days cries of helplessness are embedded in my brain.

Some days your indifference makes it hard for me to breathe.

Some days I have to swallow the fear, and face your words, your unexpressed and unsynchronized movements that say it all.

Some days, my brain can not tolerate the look in your eyes ...

Some days I have to swallow words and try my best to not drown in them.

An introspective lady enjoys a cup of tea

There’s a silence that lives behind closed eyes, a place where thought turns to light and the heart begins to listen. In this portrait, the noise of the world falls away, leaving only presence. It’s not about sadness or serenity, but the moment between, that fragile stillness before we rejoin the noise of living.

Created as part of my ongoing fine art portrait series, this image explores the language of emotion, the beauty of pause, and the quiet power of vulnerability.

Photography, for me, is not about perfection but truth, and in this fleeting instant, the truth feels peaceful.
