Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature...the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.

Another one from a year ago. It was a very cold January morning, not unlike today. We have another arctic front happening, so I woke up to -5C. Should warm up again after today.

To end a fantastic 2016 and wish you all a happy new year 2017, I'd like to post a selfie, a bit strange but introspective. I just want to dedicate it, to you all. Can't express how lucky I've been to share with you, the wonderful experiences that I've did this year. I will end with this one, a nigtht in the desert. Can't describe how much it has been suggestive to sit down, in the middle of some dunes in the Panamint region in the Death Valley, light up a cuban cigar, and enjoying the silence at the moonlight while making some selfies just for fun. This is one, me a cigar, the moon, the desert and you all my fellows. I've posed 30 seconds absolutely rigid to make this photo, and with this, I want to thank you all once more, for following my strange adventures this year. So, Happy new year and guess what comes next...

Capturing shots of the Badshahi mosque in all its splendour is an inspiring and introspective activity. A testament to Lahore's Islamic and architectural heritage, the Badshahi Mosque was built at the height of Mughal architecture during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb. (built 1672-74).

Another picture I dedicate to my Muse who challenged me with this idea : posing with my guitar in a street filled with people. An image that brought a sense of peace and comfort to her as soon as she saw it, so much that it inspired us the exact same music when looking at it, without even knowing ♥

Like a melody whispered to my heart, note after note, touch after touch, you are the most enchanting music I have ever heard...

HARRY – CATHERINE HOWE

To look inside

to look outside

keep one eye open

keep one eye closed

Harry knows how

to be introspective

he sees within

and far past the end of his nose

he sees the world broad

he sees the world narrow

he knows all my foibles

my head stuffed like a marrow

like mincemeat life is tasty

like an onion layer by layer

less speed let's not be hasty

says the wisest of all soothsayer

the old bench is mended

the new wood is bare

beneath the green lies the blue paint

we know it's still there

memories are held here

from another life lived

the old and the new meld

together to give

pleasure to me and my little treasure

my little Bengal tiger

we feel so invincible

together we could climb every mountain

even conquer the Eiger.

HBM - Happy Bench Monday

Hi everyone! Happy new week! I know I have been a bit quiet over the last several days, a bit of a blue mood that I am sure will lift in the days ahead. Thank you to my dear Flickr friends who constantly lift me up with love, true friendship and the sharing of the beauty in your lives. I know I am blessed.

I was feeling introspective (and of course, ever the introvert) so I perched here in my garden, feeling mopey and lackluster, when this guy bounded over for the sole purpose of making me smile and letting me know that he was always there when I needed a hug or a lick! Dogs are pure joy, pure love. I know I tend to be with them in a lot of the images I create, but they make me happy, and truth be told, I know that they make a lot of us happy. Furry gifts from above they are!

Sending happy light! I hope you all have a joy filled week! ♥

Whispers of the Meadows

The extreme cold and the ceaseless snow

forced me to an introspective journey through my warmest memories, already distant;

And following the road of my heart, it is the peculiar whisper of the wind in the meadow's grasses that I first recognized;

And with it, the image of these small humble flowers, but dancing and free has emerged.

Don't try to find in these meadows the exhilarating scents of the fragrant flowers from your garden.

Here, the dominant scent is the one of freedom. The freedom of blooming on its own time, the freedom of dancing in the wind, the freedom of breaking the standards of beauty, the freedom of having no worries, except those of the birds passing by.

In the heart of the winter, in the cold of the heavy snow, I listen to the quiet whisper of the meadow...

I don't speak with pretty words. They are mine, my feelings and experiences. Superficial, mundane or introspective. We all have a desert to cross, something we want to achieve, dreams, desires, obstacles, losses, or simply getting to know ourselves better. This desert can be crossed or it can be the journey of a lifetime.

Dummy is the debut studio album by English electronic band Portishead, released on 22 August 1994 by Go! Beat Records.

Upon release, Dummy received universal acclaim from critics. NME summed up the record by writing: "This is, without question, a sublime debut album. But so very, very sad." It observed, "From one angle, its languid slowbeat blues clearly occupy similar terrain to soulmates Massive Attack and all of Bristol hip-hop's extended family. But from another these are avant garde ambient moonscapes of a ferociously experimental nature." The review concluded that "Portishead's post-ambient, timelessly organic blues are probably too left-field, introspective and downright Bristolian to grab short-term glory as some kind of Next Big Thing. But remember what radical departures Blue Lines, Ambient Works and Debut were for their times and make sure you hear this unmissable album. (from Wikipedia)

This Western Lowlands Gorilla sits in a moment of stillness, its gaze turned slightly downward as if weighing a private thought. BY YOUR SIDE - SADE

A MOTHER'S LOVE

In silent fields I feel your hand resting gently within my own

in still waters I see your face reflecting all the love you feel

on solid bridges I feel your strength supporting me

in lichen curled and yellowed by the test of time

I feel your warmth like the sun has kissed my skin

in the fences of the fields I feel no division

I can climb the tallest fence; climb the highest tree

reach up my arms outstretched and touch the heavens

shed tears of joy as golden as the Autumn leaves

The hand that first held mine when I was just a child

was filled with my Mother's love

and though the loss of her will always be so keenly felt

as the cold November wind blows straight through me

and bends me to kneel so gently at my Mother's knee

still I feel her presence and see her face

in everything I do and say

and she is with me now; watching with a mother's grace

and directing me towards the right thing I should do

walking into light from dark shadows

my eyes had grown accustomed to the dark

but now they are all-seeing and I am all-knowing

that no-one can harm me all the while I walk my chosen path

of truth; of goodness and feel the solid ground beneath my feet

no-one can break me all the while

I bend with the wind and not against it

I walk the path that feels best beneath my feet

and I am comfortable within my own skin

and those that seek to harm me

will one day see that what they do is their karma

and with all the goodness my heart can muster

I pray for them and forgive their words that try to cut me down

I stand so tall within the protection of my Mother's eternal love

that bridges all eternity and keeps me safe

within the circle of her ever loving arms.

Achtung Baby is the seventh studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 18 November 1991 on Island Records. After criticism of their 1988 release Rattle and Hum, U2 shifted their direction to incorporate influences from alternative rock, industrial music, and electronic dance music into their sound. Thematically, Achtung Baby is darker, more introspective, and at times more flippant than their previous work. The album and the subsequent multimedia-intensive Zoo TV Tour were central to the group's 1990s reinvention, by which they abandoned their earnest public image for a more lighthearted and self-deprecating one.

Seeking inspiration from German reunification, U2 began recording Achtung Baby at Berlin's Hansa Studios in October 1990. The sessions were fraught with conflict, as the band argued over their musical direction and the quality of their material. After tension and slow progress nearly prompted the group to disband, they made a breakthrough with the improvised writing of the song "One".

The band referred to the album's musical departure as "the sound of four men chopping down The Joshua Tree".

The Rolling Stone magazine placed the record at number 124 on its 2020 list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" (from Wikipedia)

For me, this album is the pinnacle of their career, and the best rock album of the 90's.

Given how introspective the “One Is The Loneliest Number” lyrics are and how generally downbeat the song is, one might suspect that it was inspired by a relationship break up or some other sad situation. In reality, however, Harry Nilsson was compelled to pen "One Is The Loneliest Number" after he made a phone call but got a busy signal. The “beep, beep, beep,” of the engaged telephone line caught his attention and the singer-songwriter incorporated a similar sound into the opening piano chords of his song.

A magnificent wondrous Science-Fiction female portrait, framed in a close-up profile and facing right, depicts a mysterious daughter of the stars silently contemplating the vastness of the cosmos. Her young, harmonious face retains hyperrealistic human anatomy, with a delicately modeled forehead, a natural cheekbone, a refined nose with believable volume, an elegant jawline, a soft chin, and subtly parted lips. Her expression is calm, introspective, and almost solemn, as though she were observing a celestial phenomenon beyond the frame.

Her extraordinary luminous blue eye forms the emotional heart of the portrait. The iris displays rich shades of azure, cobalt, and cyan, with a natural pupil, delicate radial structures, and highlights consistent with the cosmic environment. The eyelids, eyelashes, and ocular moisture remain extremely realistic, without artificial exaggeration. Her gaze remains intense yet peaceful, profoundly human despite the extraterrestrial universe surrounding her.

Her fair skin has an extremely fine and natural human microtexture, with tiny pores of irregular sizes, non-repetitive skin grain, and very subtle variations in texture across the forehead, cheek, and facial contours. The skin remains youthful, luminous, and elegant, without a plastic, waxy, or artificially smoothed appearance, while also avoiding overemphasized pores. The transitions between light and shadow delicately sculpt the facial volumes while preserving cinematic softness.

Her spectacular silver hair with cool blue undertones is arranged into large, complex, majestic braids that envelop the back of her head. The hair displays a true natural hierarchy between larger masses, irregular locks, groups of fibers, and a few individual strands. The intersections of the braids show slightly varying tension, believable micro-occlusions, and tiny contact shadows. A few extremely fine peripheral hairs are revealed by a magnificent silver-blue backlight.

An extraordinary black and midnight-blue extraterrestrial headdress-armor envelops her skull, temples, cheeks, and neck. Its organic, futuristic architecture appears to have been shaped from an unknown, dark, subtly metallic material, threaded with intricate filigree and thousands of tiny cobalt-blue lights resembling miniature constellations. The different plates have believable physical thickness and articulate naturally around the face, with delicate micro-occlusions and contact shadows at the interfaces between skin and armor.

The headdress extends toward the neck and shoulders into flowing cosmic armor with elegant curves whose lines seem to follow the trajectories of a star field. Extremely fine luminous networks run across the dark material, accompanied by small concentrations of blue sparks resembling stardust trapped within the surface. The technology remains mysterious and wondrous, without industrial cables, terrestrial mechanisms, or mechanical clutter.

Behind her stretches a deep and spectacular cosmos dominated by velvety blacks, midnight blues, cobalt, and cyan hues. An immense luminous nebular structure crosses the right side of the image diagonally, composed of stardust, translucent cosmic clouds, and concentrations of stars with varying intensities. Some stars appear as tiny distant points, while a few brighter celestial bodies produce delicate natural flares. The spatial depth should feel immense, with multiple layers of dust, nebulae, and star fields.

A powerful silver-blue rim light traces the contours of the braids, headdress, and armor, beautifully separating the character from the cosmic background. The face receives softer, sculpted illumination with gradual and natural transitions. The armor’s micro-lights create only subtle localized interactions with the surrounding light, without artificially contaminating the skin or turning the portrait into a neon scene.
