Have you ever thought that the word Margherita had several intrinsic meanings? All that is called Margherita has simplicity, but a simplicity that is enough in itself. A Margherita is a beautiful flower although its appearance is without frills, the Margherita pizza is the most classic but it is timeless and the Margherita cake is so simple but delicious. The word Margherita means "pearl" and all that bears this name is a perfectly round white pearl, simple but incredibly beautiful.

The Großhadern underground station was designed by the architectural firm Braun & Hesselberger. The walls and ceiling above the track area are decorated with a mural by Johannes Klinger, which is rare in the Munich underground. It shows artistically the different geological strata in which the metro station is located. The reference to the surrounding soil is made here in numerous earth colours.

Nature's beauty is often underestimated. Its settings of grandeur most often entice photographers. Yet, for me, it is the simplicity of its common "face" that holds an intrinsic allure and enduring beauty. Winter's grey cloak still hangs upon the land. It is the sun and only the sun that provides warmth. What a beautiful time; waiting for Spring.

This open-air museum spans the Torre peninsula, Punta Herminia, O Acoroado and Cabal de Pradeira, over 47 ha, that is, occupying part of the limits of the area around the Tower (core zone). The sculptures are distributed in the green space that surrounds the Tower, in a very suggestive game of perspectives and in permanent dialogue with the monument itself. The theme chosen by the artists can be arranged around several thematic tracks:
The mythological stories that link the foundation of the Tower with Hercules himself or with the Celtic leader Breogán, whom 19th century historiography relates to the origin of the monument itself.
References to the world of the sea, navigation and routes, which tell us about that seafaring vocation that appears intrinsically linked to the past of the Galician people since the beginning of its history.
In this sculptural space, a series of pre-existing elements have been integrated, which are explained within their historical context by means of informative panels that spread the value they have within this place. Among them we can highlight: Monte dos Bicos, the Moro Cemetery and the beacons that help navigation. (Source: www.torredeherculesacoruna.com)

1974 Ferrari Dino 246GTS
Dino was a marque for mid-engined, rear-drive sports cars produced by Ferrari from 1968 to 1976. Used for models with engines with fewer than 12 cylinders, it was an attempt by the company to offer a relatively low-cost sports car. The Ferrari name remained reserved for its premium V-12 and flat 12 models until 1976, when "Dino" was retired in favour of full Ferrari branding.Named to honour Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari's son and heir Dino Ferrari, the Dino models used Ferrari racing naming designation of displacement and cylinder count with two digits for the size of the engine in deciliters and the third digit to represent the number of cylinders, i.e. 246 being a 2.4-litre 6-cylinder and 308 being a 3.0-litre 8-cylinder. Ferrari street models of the time used a three-digit representation of the displacement in cubic centimeters of one of the 12 cylinders, which would have been meaningless in a brand with differing numbers of cylinders. The Dino 246 was the first Ferrari model produced in high numbers. It is lauded by many for its intrinsic driving qualities and groundbreaking design. In 2004, Sports Car International placed the car at number six on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s. Motor Trend Classic placed the 206/246 at number seven in their list of the 10 "Greatest Ferraris of all time".Calls for more power were answered with the 2.4 L (2418 cc) Dino 246. The motor was a 65-degree, dual-overhead-camshaft, 9.0:1 compression ratio, iron block with alloy heads. The European motor produced 195 bhp (at 7,600 rpm), and was available as a fixed-top GT coupe or, after 1971, an open Spyder GTS. The American version had an exhaust air-pump, and timing changes which created 175 hp (130 kW). The GT had 3 Weber 40 DCNF/6 or 40 DCNF/7 carburetors. For the 246 a new version of the Dinoplex ignition was deployed, the more compact Magneti Marelli AEC103A system. The 246 Dino GT weighed 2,380 lb (1,080 kg). The 246 Dino GTS weighed 2,426 lb (1,100 kg). The body was now made of steel to save cost. The 246 Dino had a 2.1-inch (53 mm) longer wheelbase than the 206, at 92.1 inches. The height of the 246 was the same as the 206 at 43.9 inches.Dino 246 production numbered 2,295 GTs and 1,274 Spyders, the latter being built from 1972 to 1974 only, for a total production run of 3,569. Three series of the Dino were built, with differences in wheels, windshield wiper coverage, and engine ventilation. The Series I cars, 357 of which were built until the summer of 1970, used the same center-bolt wheels as did the 206. Series II cars (built until July 1971 in 507 examples) received five-bolt Cromodora alloys and "clap-hands" wipers. The Series III cars had minor differences to gearing and fuel supply, and were built at a much higher rate as sales in the United States commenced with this version. 1,431 Series III coupés and 1,274 GTS cars were built.

For Macro Mondays - Wabi-sabi

A picture of this railtour by Adrian Nichols flic.kr/p/2m6QVJn and his reference to a badly parked car delaying the tour made me realise I had seen the offending car being dealt with.
The 1980/1-registered Mazda had been left blocking the line and, presumably, the trainmen who walked in front of the train had called in Dorset Police to move the vehicle. They in turn had called a local garage to assist, who had broken into the vehicle and all were now manhandling the offender away from the running line. As an aside, the local garage, Westham Motors, is still in business in 2021.
Although vehicles often seemed to foul the running line, more often a little ‘nudge’ was sufficient to move vehicles out of harm’s way.
As Adrian Nichols described, the train was the Branch Line Society’s ‘Intrinsic Treacle Eater’, powered by 33108 and was heading from Waterloo to Weymouth Quay.

My son, Micah and I went on holiday last week. It was lovely to be away in the countryside surrounded by beautiful trees and having access to a wonderful pool as part of our accommodation. Micah loves water and loves to swim, so this was a perfect getaway for him. The first day we were there, Micah who is autistic and non-verbal was making his happy noises as we were on our way to the pool. Much to my dismay, a group of children rode past us on their bikes and proceeded to make nasty comments about him, intimating that he was a freak and making disgusting copying sounds. I did explain to this group about disability and they seemingly understood however the rest of our stay was marred with adults and children alike ignoring him, splashing water in his face and making demeaning comments. It's with great sadness I write these words as I have never encountered so much nastiness towards him in his 9 years. Where is the understanding, compassion and empathy in humanity going? So much hatred, bigotry, discrimination - I truly hope that there is enough love and light to counter these traits. When did we become the me first generation? We live in a diverse world, not only of colour but also ability. Everyone is human, all sacred, all with intrinsic worth. B x
Looking down on one of Yellowstone's most unique and popular geological wonders, the Grand Prismatic Spring.
"The bright, vivid colors in the spring are the result of microbial mats around the edges of the mineral-rich water. The mats produce colors ranging from green to red; the amount of color in the microbial mats depends on the ratio of chlorophyll to carotenoids and on the temperature gradient in the runoff. In the summer, the mats tend to be orange and red, whereas in the winter the mats are usually dark green. The center of the pool is sterile due to extreme heat.
The deep blue color of the water in the center of the pool results from the intrinsic blue color of water. The effect is strongest in the center of the spring, because of its sterility and depth.
The spring is approximately 370 feet (110 m) in diameter and is 160 feet (50 m) deep. The spring discharges an estimated 560 US gallons (2,100 L) of 160 °F (70 °C) water per minute." Wiki

Bubbles are an intrinsic part of sparkling wines -including champagne and other cavas- and as such the word is used to refer to the wines themselves. This is not only in English but in many other languages as well (e.g., spumante, vino espumoso, etc.).
Thus, bubbles are a #Synecdoche for sparkling wines.

~ Theia was the Titan goddess of shining and light, associated with all that glimmers. She endowed gold, silver, other metals, and gems with their radiance and intrinsic value. In fact, Pindar's odes described Theia as the goddess after whom people beheld gold as the most valuable shining object. ~

From the white frost glistening on the barks and leaves of trees to the spiraling galaxies in the winter night’s sky above, beautiful biophilic patterns of nature are all around us. These are referred to as fractal patterns. They are the chaotic equations of nature containing repeating patterns of complexity and magnitude.
The use of these snowflake patterns in this LUXE Paris Let It Snow Outfit is an excellent example of how we embrace and relate to nature’s fractal patterns in fashion.
Fractals are a natural wonder – recursive and seemingly infinite and an innate part of our biophilic world. These beautiful repetitive patterns reinforce the intrinsic connections we have between nature and self.

Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom, officially Hohe Domkirche St. Petrus, Latin: Ecclesia Cathedralis Sanctorum Petri, English: High Cathedral of Saint Peter) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Cologne, Germany. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and of the administration of the Archdiocese of Cologne. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1996. It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day, currently the tallest twin-spired church at 157 m (515 ft) tall.
Construction of Cologne Cathedral commenced in 1248 and was halted in 1473, leaving it unfinished. Work restarted in the 19th century and was completed, to the original plan, in 1880.
The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second-tallest spires. The towers for its two huge spires give the cathedral the largest façade of any church in the world. The choir has the largest height to width ratio, 3.6:1, of any medieval church.
Cologne's medieval builders had planned a grand structure to house the reliquary of the Three Kings and fit its role as a place of worship for the Holy Roman Emperor. Despite having been left incomplete during the medieval period, Cologne Cathedral eventually became unified as "a masterpiece of exceptional intrinsic value" and "a powerful testimony to the strength and persistence of Christian belief in medieval and modern Europe"

Out of this tranquillity, anxiety and confusion are born.

Reykjavik, Iceland - Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason, located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Sun Voyager is a dreamboat, an ode to the sun. Intrinsically, it contains within itself the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
es·sence
ˈesəns/Submit
noun
the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character.
There is something intrinsically interesting about the man made in the midst of the wild and the barren. This is made all the more potent if the thing in question has begun to decay, weathered and overtaken by the world around it.
Here I wanted to use this idea, framing the natural landscape with the man made building, which has been all but consumed by the landscape itself.
* My previous shot was an abstract that I know was not to everyones taste . This is a landscape from New Mexico that in many ways is also an abstract. It has no intrinsic “ meaning” or ‘ narrative “ its just a study of colour lines form and textures
The White Sands National Monument is located about 16 miles southwest of Alamogordo in western Otero County and northeastern Doña Ana County in the state of New Mexico, at an elevation of 4,235 feet . The area is in the mountain-ringed Tularosa Basin and comprises the southern part of a 275 square miles field of white sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals. It is the largest gypsum dune field in the world.
Gypsum is rarely found in the form of sand because it is water-soluble. Normally, rain would dissolve the gypsum and carry it to the sea. The Tularosa Basin is enclosed; meaning that it has no outlet to the sea and that rain that dissolves gypsum from the surrounding San Andres and Sacramento Mountains is trapped within the basin. Thus water either sinks into the ground or forms shallow pools, which subsequently dry out and leave gypsum in a crystalline form, called selenite, on the surface.
Various forms of dunes are found within the limits of White Sands. Dome dunes are found along the southwest margins of the field, transverse and barchan in the core of the field, and parabolic dunes occur in high numbers along the northern, southern, and northeastern margins.

Visualize yourself as a mountain. Bring to mind all the characteristics of a mountain, its grandeur, strength and stability.
The burning summer sun, all the joy of nature, the leaves of the trees falling in the autumn, the preparation for times of recollection, the cold wind
punishing its slopes, life protecting itself in the heart of the earth, flowers and animals returning in the spring and announcing the beginning of a new cycle.
Note that even with so many changes and movements, life and death, death and life, the mountain does not interfere with events.
The mountain receives, embraces and lets life happen in itself, merging with life itself.
The mountain remains sovereign, protecting the valleys, producing water springs.
We feel its strength and resilience that survives time and its inclement weather.
We can be like the mountain, immersed in the stability of our center, in the balance of the wisdom of nature that survives everything.
Confident in its intrinsic strength, it is always at peace with each season, the mountain overcomes itself.
There was a break in the rainy weather, so we took off for a few days away to explore more of our own backyard. This is one of the places I have been wanting to visit for a while. The Blue Spring is on the North Island of New Zealand. The reason for the blue colour of the Waihou River and its spring source is the high optical purity of the water. Pure water is intrinsically blue in hue because it absorbs red light leaving only blue and some green light to be transmitted to the observer's eye.
The Last Supper is the final meal that, in the Gospel accounts, Jesus shared with his apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. The Last Supper is commemorated by Christians especially on Holy Thursday. The Last Supper provides the scriptural basis for the Eucharist, also known as "Holy Communion" or "The Lord's Supper".
St. Thomas Aquinas viewed The Father, Christ, and the Holy Spirit as teachers and masters who provide lessons, at times by example. For Aquinas, the Last Supper and the Cross form the summit of the teaching that wisdom flows from intrinsic grace, rather than external power. For Aquinas, at the Last Supper Christ taught by example, showing the value of humility (as reflected in John's foot washing narrative) and self-sacrifice, rather than by exhibiting external, miraculous powers.

"The climate crisis is a water crisis. To tackle the climate crisis, we must understand how it is intrinsically linked to changes in the water cycle. We need to prepare ourselves for a future with more severe droughts and floods, with more unpredictable rainfall patterns and dramatically rising sea levels. Our best chance is to focus on smart, water-related solutions that build resilient societies and ecosystems whilst cutting greenhouse gas emissions and improving carbon storage. This is the next generation of climate solutions."

The Sculptor Galaxy is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor and a stardust galaxy, which means that is is currently undergoing a period of intense star formation.
The Galaxy was discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783 during one of her systematic comet searches.
The Sculptor Galaxy is located at the center of the Sculptor Group, one of the nearest groups of galaxies to the Milky Way.
It is the brightest one in the group and one of the intrinsically brightest galaxies in the vicinity of ours, only surpassed by the Andromeda Galaxy and the Sombrero Galaxy.

Oh Where is the sun
This somber morn
My heart weighs heavy
As clouds drift slowly by
As if stood up
Left at the altar
Where is the sun
Jolted
Such gravity
This joyless day
So intrinsically dependent
On the life force fireball
Up in the sky
How will I get through the day
Dare I hope to see the sun tomorrow
O yes, there is always tomorrow
And I wonder when I calmly get to see these sights with my own eyes... Who could bother that someone has the intrinsic right to freedom? Who could bother that someone has the right to make his wish that he has in his dreams? Freedom and rights are not given by governments, they are rights given by God not by man.
An impossible task to capture the delicate fragrance of my “Bonica” roses ; so instead I tried to capture their essence and intrinsic beauty from a diverse point of view.
There are times in the hills when everything seems perfect and pristine and when lost in the moment you can feel quite emotional, an advantage of walking alone I suppose. Atop Causey Pike on this day was one of those moments, stood in perfect stillness and silence it was hard not to be moved. Just why does a landscape have such an effect on your emotions? As an atheist I don't even have the old "feeling closer to god" line to fall back upon but there is certainly something spiritual and intrinsically ingrained in the human psyche that causes feelings of bliss and elation when presented with such a scene. Certainly words and images are a clumsy way to put this across but what else do I have?

I live in this country for 48 years, after 5 years of living here, I became an American citizen and served in the army from which I already retired, I am proud to live in a free country that respects the right to freedom, everything bad or negative that any ideological divisive says about us put it in doubt, I come from a country that was beautiful, where we all loved each other with respect, then everything changed with an iron dictatorship that said they came to give us rights and equality, it was all a cruel trap, we lost everything until the intrinsic right to freedom, I lost everything, family, friends and my right, so they deported me after keeping me a prisoner in their dungeons. Now they try to deceive us, but I know them very well... Wake up, get up, because you are free, never believe in hollow promises from the left.
Tulip mania was a period during the Dutch Golden Age when contract prices for some bulbs of the recently introduced and fashionable tulip reached extraordinarily high levels, and then dramatically collapsed in February 1637. It is generally considered to have been the first recorded speculative bubble or asset bubble in history.
In many ways, the tulip mania was more of a hitherto unknown socio-economic phenomenon than a significant economic crisis. It had no critical influence on the prosperity of the Dutch Republic, which was one of the world's leading economic and financial powers in the 17th century, with the highest per capita income in the world from about 1600 to 1720.
The term "tulip mania" is now often used metaphorically to refer to any large economic bubble when asset prices deviate from intrinsic values.
This tulip is from our garden.
