I found this picture online. It’s a trading card showing a prototype “Francie Grows” doll. Although this doll was never produced, Mattel would later use the same concept for their "Growing Up" Skipper dolls in the 1970’s. I’ve always been fascinated with Barbie history, so I thought my fellow Barbie collectors would be intrigued by this oddity as well.

Something a little different.. I’ve always been intrigued with this abstract roadside sculpture ‘The Gateway’ which is located over the Tullamarine Freeway in Melbourne, Australia.
It copped strong criticism when it was built in the late 1990s (as did the Sydney Opera House), but today, perceptions have changed. The Gateway is now an icon. It’s accepted. The public has decided: it’s a view worth having!

Unfortunately the tile floor doesn't work well for the track ... we need a board to attach it to ... maybe another year.

Hello to my favorite group on Flickr! i am sorry i have been a lousy visitor to your photos but things...good things for a change...are happening in my life right now. I need to focus a bit here and see them through, because they are things i have dreamed of for a very long time. I recently have begun to REALLY try hard to make those come true. I seem to be in the right place and at the right time, stars are aligning...reinforcing my idea that i truly was a misplaced southern soul when i was in Jersey. i promise to get back into this, as soon as the dust settles here.
My artistic endeavors are beginning to pay off, and i could not be more excited (or scared!!). i love the thought that people are intrigued and accepting of my art here, and i am getting used to that....now comes the hard part. Stepping out of the teensy tiny comfort zone of being in front of people. I am making slow progress...and it gets a tiny bit easier as i go...but it really does give me pause when i have too much time to anticipate it! I will always be much more comfortable alone, with just with one or two friends or my cats, or books for company. I just need to get to the point that i can self talk myself thru the hopefully limited outings i need to do in front of people!

Intrigued by a rather upset jay I decided to look into a laurel bush where I found a rather large nest. Suspecting it either belonged to the jay or was a target for it I decided to watch for a while.
I then noticed what at first appeared to be owl shaped leaves but of course were far more exciting.
This lovely tawny owl was busy snoozing in the tree and was totally nonplussed by both me and the jay. A true hide and seek champion.

went to Tennessee from saturday - monday.
we mainly spent our time up at cades cove.
the snow blanketing the fields and old homes
was just breathtaking.
the berries caught my eye against the white snow while
hiking through the mountains with my family.
