My eyes focus on the darkness
of my eyes shut,
Like closed lids
Into a different dark imagination
In that soft blackness,
thoughts drift into shapes,
and the unseen becomes brighter than the world outside.
When we imagine,
My eyes settle into the darkness
Behind close lids
A quiet place where everything feels complete
Do you have a place like this?
Portrait of my friend Lindsey in college, she wanted to be a model and I wanted to be a photographer so we work on a hand full of shoots together. I really love how simple this portrait is just using window light and a bare wall as a background. Would love to keep making sets of portraits like this.

Ulysses is living his best life in this candid moment, eyes closed in absolute contentment as he receives the head scratches he so clearly deserves. This close-up portrait captures that universal cat experience—the pure, unfiltered joy of a good ear rub from a trusted human.
His gorgeous Maine Coon features are on full display here. That luxurious fluffy chest, the beautiful tabby markings on his face, those prominent whiskers fanning out in all directions, and that magnificent ear fluff catching the light. The soft focus and intimate framing create a tender, personal quality that every cat owner recognizes—this is the look of a deeply loved and completely relaxed pet.
The domestic setting visible in the background—hardwood floors, cozy furniture, everyday home life—frames this moment of simple affection. A human hand gently cradles his head while Ulysses leans into the touch, his expression absolutely blissful. This isn't a posed portrait; it's a genuine capture of the bond between cat and human, that quiet mutual affection that defines life with a beloved pet. Pure contentment in feline form.
