View of the city of Nizhny Novgorod during sunset.

Nizhny Novgorod (in Soviet times - Gorky) is the fifth most populated city in Russia, located on the banks of the Oka River at the confluence of the Volga. Nizhny is a surprisingly diverse city, where you will find monuments of different centuries, interspersed with breathtaking panoramas from the high Volga coast. In addition to the completely diverse architecture in Nizhny Novgorod, there are more than a dozen museums and an active cultural life that is not inferior to other major cities of Russia.

This is the city of Gorky and Chaliapin, the cradle of Russian radio and Soviet automotive industry. The city of the Volga merchants, the revolutionary labor movement, river and sea shipbuilding.

The development of the city took centuries, starting with the Kremlin and the magnificent churches of the 17th-18th centuries, continuing with merchant mansions and carved wooden houses, and by the 20th century turned into a bizarre interweaving of Art Nouveau and Russian style or, for example, pre-revolutionary working barracks and monuments of Soviet architecture.

Celui-là va ici, celui-ci par là et le dernier...Oh Zut! Bon, je recommence.

This one goes here, this one there and the last one ... Oh Damn! OK, I try again.

"S or Sea, Shark, Skull", Street Art Ghent, Belgium by Cee Pil.

Found some more info about him on internet:

"The whole work can be summarized in the letter S. Sea, Shark, Skull. Artist Cee Pil is a master of interweaving images. Usually he puts two animals together, this time it is a shark and a skull.

It is a temporary fact, because it adorns the scaffolding for the works on the Winter Circus. That is in full transformation. There will be a concert hall, offices and shops, but also catering establishments and terraces. The renovated building must be able to open in 2022."

Location: Lammerstraat, Ghent, Belgium

Mural: S or Sea, Shark, Skull

Artist: Cee Pil

Life flows in the Jardin des Tuileries, and with the rhythm of the seasons the colors of the garden match those of the sky, the trees are dressed in flowers and then in leaves, and finally, left bare, show their elegant interweaving.

The chairs continue their wanderings among the fountains and paths and there are always many people who sit there for a moment to savor the taste of Paris, while the little birds rummage in the folds of this enchanted garden.

Life flows in the Tuileries and shows itself to those who know how to look at it in all its beauty.

Too much sun can create turbulence for the brain. So that everything spins and you think you're going crazy. Here it is called "having a sunstroke". And that's actually not funny – it can be dangerous. So it is a practical avoidance strategy to place something intertwined on your head ;-)

Ingredients: straw hat (it always hangs right next to the patio door and sometimes I put it on), red cardboard (to show the intensity of the sun's power and the shadow play), sunlight (we're very lucky here, the sun is shining and it's not raining)

It's my first attempt at an interweaved strips technique. My choice of subject may not have been the best...I think maybe the image should have had more going on...but it was fun to do despite being a bit tedious, and I'm happy with the result.

Thanks to Flickr contact Steven Hromnak for the inspiration. He is a master at the weave technique, and recently provided a link to a how-to tutorial with one of his images. You can check out his incredibly cool and complex double-weave image here: www.flickr.com/photos/gaphiker/49800945368/in/dateposted/

Another idea of altering my origami-tessellation 'Flower-Star' is to move the pattern and create a new centre, which gives new possibilities, using the same pattern. Hope it makes sense what I write….;-)

This is just a little tessellation to see if my idea would work. I call this molecule "Interweave".

This is how the other side, called "Arrow" looks like.

Unlike other wren species in its genus, only the male Carolina Wren sings the loud song. In other species, such as the Stripe-breasted Wren of Central America, both members of a pair sing together. The male and female sing different parts, and usually interweave their songs such that they sound like a single bird singing.

I passed this line of young beeches on a walk through a winterly forest, interweaved with each other, shielding the path from the rest of the woodland.

When I saw this, I had two thoughts. At first I was amazed by the patterns produced by the dark branches, the bright white snow and the shining orange red leafs. When I look at this scenery for a while, every time I feel like I'm drawn into it.

On the other hand, I had to think of the thorny hedge from the fairytale (I don't know why). Nevertheless I didn't try to fight myself though it in order to search for a sleeping beauty behind. I've got a princess at home already and I'm not tough enough for two of that kind.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Surely, the silent sliding and interweaving of a steam engine's valve gear links has to be bewitching.

Here is the valve gear and driving wheels of "Black Prince", BR engine No. 92203. One of Britain's most powerful steam locomotives.

92203 was one of a class of 251 designed in the late 1950s for fast and long-distance heavy freight trains. They were very successful and a pinnacle of British steam locomotive design. But - It was the twilight of the steam age. Nearly all were scrapped after a few years.

92203 entered service in 1959 and was withdrawn just 8 years later. Since then it has had a second life of delighting fans on heritage lines including hauling a record 2198 tonne freight train. After developing an internal boiler leak it's now stored at Bressingham Steam Museum.

The Walschaerts piston valve gear linkage transfers power from the 20" diameter and 28" stroke cylinders to ten 6 ft diameter driving wheels. The lighter upper links control steam supply, allow reversing and variable steam cut-off for efficiency.

Haegue Yang (Korean, b. 1971) is known for genre-defying, multimedia installations that interweave a range of materials and methods, historical references, and sensory experiences. Handles, Yang’s installation commissioned for MoMA’s Marron Atrium, features six sculptures activated daily, dazzling geometries, and the play of light and sound, to create a ritualized, complex environment with both personal and political resonance.

Georgian folk dances impress with their brightness, incredible fire, sumptuous costumes and the interweaving of history with art. They give incredibly great pleasure to both the audience and the dancers themselves. No one has remained indifferent after such a spectacle! Today we offer you to get acquainted with the most famous Georgian folk dances and learn a little about their history:

Georgian National Dances: General information

The exact date of the origin of Georgian national dances is not known. However, it is supposed that the Georgian dancing folk was mentioned for the first time before our era.

In different parts of the country during many years were appearing unique dancing movements which have passed from generation to generation. And you will note that the dances of mountainous region inhabitants are characterized by sharp and rapid movements while the dance movements of plain inhabitants are smooth. Each Georgian national dance requires special costumes which resemble the clothes of inhabitants of different regions.

And inside, outside, top, bottom, here, there, today, tomorrow mingle, interweave, dissolve.

The Adventure

Collaboration Photo

Please go take a look at the wonderful Randomquestingblog’s version. We had such a blast choosing our outfits and working on interweaving our characters’ stories together. Each of us trying to find the that special thing in the Fairelands to save our home! Enjoy!

Honey ran into another denizen of The Faewylds, Caster.

The little Chimera seemed to be having trouble with their glamor and instead of their form shaping into what they wanted, instead the fairelands made their form reflect that of the realm they were on. The two of them along with Tala, the baby dragon, ventured into Nova Nadiya. Caster spent the walk telling Honey of their own personal search to find magics that could combat the corruption growing back in their shared homeland.

Honey’s heart swelled as they thought back to Allumari and Eliza. Each denizen of The Faewylds were working hard to find something to save The Faewylds. Just as they came to a lull in the conversation the two enby looked around and realized….they were totally lost.

Right as panic started to set it, Honey saw a glow in the distance. The three of them ventured forth towards that glow, which inturn was a portal…but where would it take them next?

Stepping into the inviting embrace of The Newport, the table awaits, a vision of Thanksgiving opulence. Candied yams, velvety mashed potatoes, crisp green beans, and a perfectly roasted turkey, all meticulously arranged to greet you upon arrival. The dwindling autumn sun gracefully peeks through the curtains, casting a warm glow that interweaves with the comforting scents of fallen leaves and the delectable aroma of Thanksgiving delights.

In the corner, a contented cat finds solace, a silent companion to the forthcoming festivities. As you settle in, the room becomes a haven of anticipation, inviting you to indulge in the shared warmth of friends and the delectable offerings of a Thanksgiving feast. It's a moment to relish the flavors, the laughter, and the enduring bonds, encapsulating the very essence of Thanksgiving within the timeless walls of The Newport.

The grid lines within the painting interweave with the irregular shapes of water droplets and stains, forming an abstract composition. The repetition and variation of these lines and shapes imbue the image with a sense of rhythm and dynamism.

The reflections and inflections on the water's surface also create a visual dislocation and blur, adding to the image's mysterious and surreal quality.

The choice of angle and lighting to capture this image is subjective, yet the resulting image possesses a certain objective visual quality. This sparks a discussion on the relationship between subjectivity and objectivity in artistic creation.

Interweave Action

This mandala is on the wall of the small Interweave studio which is used by members of the local arts community in Inveresk.

A mandala is a geometric configuration of symbols (usually in circular form from the Sanskrit मण्डल meaning 'circle'). Carl Jung "hypothesized that the circle drawings reflected the mind's inner state at the moment of creation and were a kind of symbolic archetype in the collective unconscious."

Mitrofan of Voronezh (in the scheme of Makarius) is a bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, the first bishop of Voronezh. Glorified as a saint on June 25, 1832. The future saint was born under the name Mykhailo in a family of Orthodox priests. He was married, had a son Ivan. At the age of forty, Mykhailo became a widower. In 1663, he was ordained a monk with the name Mitrofan. Mitrofan Voronezh blessed Tsar Peter the First for the construction of the Russian navy and the Azov campaign. At the bishop's funeral, Peter the First personally carried his coffin.

According to information from the Antiquarian magazine No. 86: "Restoration: Revival of Treasures", 10/14/2014, the image of Bishop Mitrofan of Voronezh, on the edge of the pylon of the side chapel of St. Olga in the choir above the southern nave, belongs to the brush of Wilhelm KotarbinskI. Other sources call Pavel Svedomskyi the author, others assert joint authorship or the impossibility of determining authorship. Kotarbynskyi, being a Catholic, did not sign his works in accordance with the contract for the performance of the works.

As I end the series of fair shots for now (I may interweave some more over the next few weeks) - I thought I would show those unfamiliar with this Fair, the immense size.

This is looking down Grand Ave about 1/2 mile long and is only one main street of the fair. It is like a small city coming to life like a big city for 10 days - then turns quiet right after.

They expect 100,000 visitors a day plus vendor and exhibitor shows.

This Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) kept singing away as I moved on the patio to get a better background. Their song is so bright and loud for their size although sometimes it hard to localize.

The Cornell Labs says this about their song, "Unlike other wren species in its genus, only the male Carolina Wren sings the loud song. In other species, such as the Stripe-breasted Wren of Central America, both members of a pair sing together. The male and female sing different parts, and usually interweave their songs such that they sound like a single bird singing."
