How is possible to help psychologically patients with physical illnesses during hospital care?
And this work really works and is sustainable in the public health service? These are some of the questions that tries to answer the volume.
the book is dedicated to counseling for mental health in hospital and gives to the reader the tools to learn and understand the suffering that accompanies medical diseases with a view unpublished, as integrated pathophysiological, psychopathological, psychological and relational.
The activity of clinical psychology at the hospital is analyzed as a point of intersection between the subjectivity of the patient and the team, objectivity of the disease and economical and cultural aspect of institutions.
The reader is guided along a route that, in an innovative way, moves from historical data on the complex dialogue between psychology and clinical medicine, deals with theoretical issues such as the integration of multidisciplinar clinical perspectives, to describe - finally - techniques for consultation and support, applicable in the hospital, always in the light of real clinical cases and experiences.
The book is a useful tool for university education, but it also represents a valuable opportunity for deepening and updating for all health professionals (psychologists and psychotherapists, doctors and health professionals attentive to the psychological dimension of medical-ill patients).

Over the past two weeks, two of five Tamil hunger strikers were hospitalized in Ottawa. Generally though the protests were peaceful and have now ended after the 15th day.

Ok I think I have finally gone overboard.
Yesterday Deb went shopping at Penny's.
Next door to penny's is an antique shop. A huge antique shop.
So I killed some time just browsing. Not really looking for anything in particular. Then I spotted this puzzle of a copy of the Constitution. While not a puzzle that I would have thought to purchase the addiction got a hold of me and I bought it. It looks to be a challenge. We will see.
Then later in the day Deb reminded me that it was half price day at Goodwill and she wanted to look for books. Even though we already have more books than we will read in a lifetime, she loves going and buying more. Especially when they are so cheap.
And of course i found two puzzles that caught my eye.
The Fifties junk pile really caught my eye and I had to have it.
The Earth Angle puzzle was something I saw someone do here on Flickr and so of course I needed that one too.
In all fairness there were more puzzles there that I did not purchase, but these two for a dollar each was something I could not ass up.
I do need an intervention I think.
Deb thinks so too.

USS New York, lead ship of a two-ship class of 27,000-ton battleships, was built at the New York Navy Yard. Commissioned in April 1914, her first active service was off Vera Cruz, Mexico, during the U.S. intervention there. After more than three years of operations off the east coast and in the Caribbean, in December 1917 New York crossed the Atlantic to join the British Grand Fleet. She was flagship of the U.S. battleships of the Sixth Battle Squadron during the remainder of the First World War.
In mid-1919, New York transited the Panama Canal to the Pacific, where she was based during the next decade and a half. As a unit of the Battle Fleet, she took an active part in the exercises, drills and gunnery practices that were regularly held in the Pacific and Caribbean. New York underwent modernization in 1925-27, receiving new oil-fired boilers, anti-torpedo bulges on her hull sides, heavier deck armor, up-to-date gunfire control mechanisms and many other improvements that enhanced her combat capabilities. After being transferred to the Atlantic in the mid-1930s, she visited England in 1937 as the U.S. representative to the British Coronation naval review. Over the next three years, the battleship was actively employed as a training ship.
With the coming of war to Europe, New York participated in Neutrality Patrol operations, and, as the U.S. drew closer to the conflict in 1941, helped in the occupation of Iceland and in escorting convoys. Her convoy activities continued after the United States became a combatant in December 1941. In November 1942, New York also took part the North African invasion, providing gunfire support for landings at Safi, Morocco. She spent 1943 and most of 1944 on escort and training duties, steaming to the Pacific war zone in early 1945. In February, New York's big guns were active bombarding Iwo Jima before and during the Marines' assault on that island. She was similarly employed off Okinawa from late March until June, and was lightly damaged by a suicide plane on 14 April 1945.
Following the Japanese capitulation in August 1945, New York moved back to the Atlantic and was at New York City for the Navy Day fleet review in late October. Her last active service was as a target during the atomic bomb tests at Bikini, Marshall Islands, in July 1946. Too radioactive and far too old for further use, she decommissioned a month later. In July 1948, USS New York was towed out to sea off Pearl Harbor and sunk as a target for Navy aircraft and ships.
Rasmus Nilausen and Pere Llobera share a workspace in the Salamina studios in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat – which they cofounded – yet the invitation to collaborate for Compositions was the first time they exhibited together. In the Gardens of La Central del Raval their works occupied a former priest's house and explored "acheiropoietic" images – those that have supposedly come into being not by human hand, but miraculously. The Veil of Veronica, for example, refers to various Catholic relics and icons which tell of a piece of cloth said to have been imprinted with the image of the face of Jesus.

‘Composiciones’ is a a programme of five interventions specially commissioned for the first Barcelona Gallery Weekend, 1–4 October 2015. The programme complimented the existing calendar of exhibitions by presenting the work of artists active in the Barcelona art scene whose interventions responded to singular locations – public and private sites significant for their architecture, activity or their history.
‘Composiciones’ unfolded through temporary interventions at different speeds and rhythms and one-off events outside of Barcelona's contemporary art circuit – including a private psychoanalytic library, a former ceramics factory and a botanical collection. Pinpointing some lesser-known aspects of the city's cultural history and municipal life, ‘Composiciones’ offered moments of interruption, intimacy and immersion throughout the weekend.

David Bestué produced a new installation in the form of a sculptural timeline defined by ignition and invention, fat and oil, obsolescence, fluorescence, luminescence and incandescence – a history of humanity from antiquity to the present day told through the evolution and refinement of lighting technology. Located in the domestic setting of the former Director’s house within the 1920s Cosme Toda ceramics factory, the installation was companioned by sculptural clusters recuperating Art Nouveau ceramics and plaster pieces found in the factory itself. These linked to Bestué's ongoing interest in the evolution of architectural practice alongside building materials and engineering techniques.

This was during a mock active-shooting at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah, Kentucky.
The exercise included local law enforcement including McCracken County Emergency Management, SWAT, McCracken County Sheriff, Paducah Police, Paducah Fire, and Mercy Regional Ambulance Service.

This concept involves the Robo Wash from the past. As a kid, I used to love sitting in the car watching the mechanized sprayer go around our family car as it haphazardly removed the road dirt. In this illustration, a robot from the future is heart broken to find Robo Wash in such terrible shape due to neglect and abuse.

Thousands rally on Trafalgar Square against UK intervention in Syria - London 31.08.2013
Following a march past Parliament and Downing Street, thousands of Stop the War Coalition anti-war activists rallied on Trafalgar Square to hear various speeches demanding there be no UK military intervention whatsoever in the current Syrian crisis.

Documentation of silent public intervention, video, 59 min., loop
Changing of the guard in every 15 min.
Watch is an action performed in a public space with a security camera (CCTV). It discusses themes of security, privacy, look, fear and otherness. Watch -intervention took place in Berlin, Germany 26.6.2007 in the corner of Wilhelmstrasse and Niederkirchnerstrasse. The security camera of Bundesministerium der Finanzen (Finance Ministry) captured the starers. After the intervention, I have contacted the ministry numerous times by phone and via e-mail in order to get security camera video material to my possession. My rights (Data Protection Directive, 1995) as a citizen of Finland and European Union are not respected. I've been facing a wall of silence.
Bundesministerium der Finanzen, Deltlev-Rohwedder-Haus as it is called, is the only major surviving public building from the Nazi era in the central Berlin. It used to house Reich Air Ministry of Nazis. The building was occupied by the Council of Ministers of the new German Democratic Republic in 1949. As such it was at the centre of the demonstrations during the workers' uprising of 17. June 1953, when hundreds of demonstrators were killed.
Since 1992, the building is called Detlev-Rohwedder-House, after Detlev Karsten Rohwedder, the assassinated head of the Treuhand, which had its headquarters there 1991-95. Treuhand is responsible of selling the state owned property of the DDR.
Close to the building, there used to be the central institutions responsible for the repressive and criminal policies of National Socialism as well as era of DDR. There is no other site where control of people, terror and murder were planned and organised on the same scale.
