Its just one of those shots that I have always wanted. This classic alpine hut perched on Etheridge Range high in Kosciuszko National Park blanketed with snow.
The problem with bucket list shots is, most of the time, they’re not easy to land, hence their passage into the famed halls of the bucket list.
So here I was. Two mates and I had spent the previous afternoon trekking up in snow shoes from Eagles Nest and pitching our campsite a little under 200m below the top of Australia.
Challenge one of this bucket list come hard-earned image was done. We were there. Next were the conditions. The hut is an emergency shelter intersecting a number of back-country routes popular with the adventurous cold weather hikers. By arriving before the weekend my snow was pristine and footprint free. Check.
The final and possibly the toughest obstacle of them all was the weather. At just shy of 2,100m the typical weather around the hut is either thick cloud or no cloud. The forecast was good but the night before wasn’t, above us was a very starry and very clear sky. Void of any high cloud what-so-ever. After shooting some compulsory clear sky astro I returned to my tent and hoped.
It was around 2am and we were woken by some strong winds coming in from the west. I got up to help my mates dig their tent in a little and check over mine – above me - clouds.
A few more cold hours sleep and I was ready. I was there. The conditions were ‘close’ to perfect and my clouds were in position.
Seaman’s Hut. I got you!

Where Arthropods and Homo Sapiens Meet by Peter Kupper on display now at the New York Public Library Fifth Avenue. It's a fun, creative display and well worth the visit.
A moment in time,
where paths cross and minds converge

Rail and road cross as the grind up Evaro is almost complete for the Night Gas. This shot is noteworthy as well for the fact that this is one of the only places on Evaro where there are few houses!

Abstract public art; detail from a monumental sculpture in an office park. Taken during a brief sprinkling of small snowflakes, which added numerous white specks to the image.
The Old City of Kotor is a well preserved urbanization typical of the middle Ages, built between the 12th and 14th century. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor land on the UNESCO’s World Natural and Historical Heritage Site list.
Through the entire city the buildings are intersected by narrow streets and squares. Cathedral of Saint Tryphon (Sveti Tripun) is at the center of one of these squares, and it’s a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the city.
