Me and my mechanical eye. I sometimes wonder when taking photographs if by being behind the lens I am not actually participating in the event/situation I am photographing. In the process of capturing an image, have I distanced myself enough, that I am actually not seeing and really internalizing the events before me?

On the other hand, the camera held to my eye, has given me the courage to move past my self-consciousness and place myself more directly into the action going on around me. It has given me an excuse to be places and do things that I normally wouldn't get away with if I was empty handed.

In preparation for deployment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom,

320th Tactical PSYOP Co from Clackamas Oregon has been training at Fort Dix.

By working long hours during pre-deployment, they were able to create space

in the schedule to visit the World Trade Center memorial site to pay their

respects to the victims and heroes of the 9-11 attacks.

In addition, the Soldiers of the 320th were remembering one of their own.

SPC Joseph Jefferies was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan in

2004. The Soldiers conducted a fallen comrade ceremony to honor his

sacrifice and his memory.

Afterward, Soldiers of the 320th exchanged their colored, embroidered US

flags worn here in the US for the two-tone IR flags worn in

combat--symbolizing their commitment to the mission, and underscoring the

connection between the events of 11 years ago and the current mission in

Afghanistan. The colored flags were left at the rail of the memorial in a

token of honor and remembrance.

"The 9-11 attacks and our efforts in Afghanistan are closely related", said

CPT Katherine Kennedy, Company Commander. "We are fortunate that we were

able to make time in a busy training schedule to come here. I think it sets

the right tone going downrange. The way we perform our mission in

Afghanistan should be a reflection on the courage and sacrifice that this

place honors, and I think this will help my soldiers internalize that."

Johnaye Kendrick presents "Improvisation: Stretching Away From the Melody." We'll start by focusing on stretching and creating new melodies while presenting the head of a tune. Then we'll focus on internalizing the harmonic structure of tunes to learn techniques for improvising through chord changes rather than around melodic structure.

"Gestures become significant symbol when they arouse in an individual making them the same responses which they explicitly arouse, or are supposed to arouse, in other individuals, the individuals to whom they are addressed; and in all conversations of gestures within the social process, whether external (between different individuals) or internal (between a given individual and himself), the individuals consciousness of the content and flow of meaning involved depends on this thus taking the attitude of the other toward his own gestures.

The internalization in our experience of the external conversations of gestures which we carry on with other individuals in the social process is the essence of thinking; and the gestures thus internalized are significant symbols because they have the same meaning for all individual members of the given society or social group, i.e., they respectively arouse the same attitudes in the individuals making them that they arouse in the individuals responding to them: otherwise the individual could not internalize them or be conscious of them and their meaning. 5 Ways to Support Your Children’s Education During Quarantine

The shift in the Philippines’ educational system since the 2020 lockdown has been drastic and learning institutions have or may still be struggling with the instability. This disproportioned delivery of education, in turn, creates a learning gap—a lack of equality in learning opportunities.

Learning gaps occur when there is a lesser difference between what children have learned and what they were expected to learn at a certain point in their education. e.g., basic writing and counting difficulties present still at the age of 7 or troubles in multiplication tables still at 4th grade or age 9.

With still ongoing improvements being made on the blended and online learning systems, we could only hope to lessen this gap.

For parents, to avoid this, the aim is to reduce struggles children may have in adapting to the new learning format and ensure they pick up appropriate lessons and concepts suitable to their age and grade level. A few ways to keep their academic progress on track would be:

1. Ensure a certain level of mastery per lesson or concept

Recognize that each child learns at a different pace. Assess your child’s current capabilities and learn which concepts they need to reestablish and grasp before advancing. Programs like Izumi’s Nippon Math™ apply the 4 areas of learning where per level they aim to first build new concept foundations, apply them through practice, and by extension develop mastery before moving on to the next level.

2. Create a suitable learning space at home

Set up a learning-related dedicated space where you could emulate a classroom environment not only to avoid distractions but also to stimulate an academic atmosphere. Couple it with items that stimulate their academic interests, this may increase their concentration and motivation.

3. Monitor your child's progress on a regular basis

Keep track of their progress. For busy parents, it could just be a weekly easy-going catchup or maybe simply listening when they approach to tell you about their day. This will better provide perspective to effectively make decisions on the learning direction best fit for them.

4. Encourage enough rest before class

Urge children to rest before or after class to relieve pressure and teach them the importance of balancing time. This will allow them to internalize information and regain energy to focus on succeeding classes and tasks.

5. Adopt a nurturing environment at home

Nurture a stress-free environment at home that supports the improvement of their study behavior. Kids feel more motivated in class when their parents communicate frequently. This will support their learning and development in absorbing knowledge effectively.

We’ve written at length over the last few years about how marketing is, at its core, storytelling and that the real challenge for real estate brokerages these days lies in telling their story more clearly.

But a good story can only be judged a success if it is presented well.

Please allow me to share an example:

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) Northwest Real Estate (yes, that is quite a mouthful) is owned by Home Services of America and is led by a young, ambitious broker, Jason Waugh.

The company is the result of an amalgamation of the three former independent BHHS franchises, in Seattle, Portland and Salem, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest.

Having come through the challenges of integration last year, they were ready to emerge back into the market under a united banner and begin building new market share.

To do that they needed to arm their people with the right tools.

That’s where 1000watt came in.

BHHSNW wanted a marketing campaign that could simultaneously rally their existing agent base and attract new agents. We also needed to find a way to preserve the positive brand attributes that the BHHS brand brings to the table while weaving in the unique attributes of this regional company.

No short order.

We started by breaking the company’s story down into its discrete parts. We rebuilt its pillars to avoid the trite and overused: Honesty, Integrity, Professionalism… words that echo through the halls of nearly every real estate brand.

We crafted a campaign mantra that articulated their unique value proposition:

Northwest Knowledge.

Two words that speak volumes.

The strategy was then to position the brand as one with its local market – a delicate task.

So we wrote copy and chose imagery for a digital campaign that demonstrated this authenticity and built up its regional sensibility. We used humor and a tongue-in-cheek approach to showcase the unique aspects of what makes homeownership and the home-buying process so different in this region.

Perhaps more importantly, we gave their existing agents a series of instantly memorable assets that they could share with their spheres.

We wove this look and feel and tone across all of their public-facing materials, including their listing presentation and buyer guides. The goal was to help their agents create a more emotional connection with consumers through simple, clean design.

The revamp was nearly complete.

But as most of you know, recruiting is the lifeblood of any brokerage business. The final piece of the puzzle was to create a recruiting piece that was unlike anything else in the market.

Our creative direction was to design something tactile and distinct – a look that would stand out in a sea pocket folders. We took our cues from the consumer packaging world and wanted to use all of the senses to build the story on multiple levels. We needed to show the story to the recipient, not just tell it.

The packet we designed is modular. Each insert speaks to the specific elements of the BHHSNW story so that a manager can customize the presentation to the needs of each potential recruit. We ensured there were clear calls-to-action throughout.

We launched this new campaign at a series of BHHS Northwest events throughout the Pacific Northwest this past January. We shared all of these new materials with managers and agents, and got on stage to teach them how to internalize the messages and use the materials we delivered.

At every turn, Northwest Knowledge has been met with a resounding sea of nodding heads and smiles.

The company now has a story that resonates and all the tools they need to materialize the campaign into the world.

Best of all, the results are starting to come in.

The Capital Market Authority (CMA) in partnership with International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group host a breakfast meeting themed “Corporate Governance; the pathway to sustainable business growth in Rwanda” on Wednesday, November 16th , 2016 to raise awareness on issues related to Corporate Governance as a sustainable driver of business growth.

Good corporate governance practices will attract investors to emerging markets’ businesses and address the barriers to access long term funding with lower transactions costs and hence lower cost of capital. Increased access to capital encourages new investments, boosts economic growth, and provides employment opportunities.

The Executive Director of Capital Market Authority (CMA), Robert Mathu stressed that “IFC has consistently cooperated with CMA in helping companies in Rwanda to explore capital markets as a source of long-term finance. A key prerequisite to access capital from public markets is to adopt and internalize corporate governance practices to instill confidence among investors.”

Our family gathered together this afternoon to bring Marley to the vet's where he was euthanized. Marley got to enjoy a sort of double treat: He was able to come with us on a car ride (and in the Durango which is his favorite vehicle on account of all the room) while riding in his chair that has graced the living rooms of our past two homes solely for his benefit and use.

Elena, at 5, was sad and cried and felt things to a significant degree. Keaton, though, is torn up over this. He and Marley were just beginning to really get on as buddies - something Larissa and I had hoped for all along and had been frustrated by Marley's seeming lack of interest. Marley has always been devoted to me, oftentimes ignoring the kids when they were trying to be nice to him. I think Keaton was finally old enough to be able to understand how to get through to Marley and Marley responded with affection. Both children are sensitive, but Keaton really internalizes things and never fully lets go. While Elena wanted a new dog right away, Keaton wanted Marley. Definitely some developmental differences in play, but definitely some personality differences, too.

We're crushed with Marley's passing. There will always be the mixture of fond memories and a sense of loss when we think of him. Our home has a peculiar emptiness to it now, an emptiness that will be felt for months to come as we adjust to life without Marley. While what we are experiencing is nothing new, it's also difficult as all of Marley's life was intertwined with these beginning years of our blossoming family. It's not solely Marley when I think of a time or see a picture - it's Larissa or Keaton or Elena, too. That makes it particularly hard for me.

If you look closely, all the collage parts are made up of social networking site logos except for the view through the binoculars, which is made up of a bunch of embarrassing pictures that people post on the internet. So it's kinda the whole idea of how people post their ...lives on the internet without really internalizing the fact that anything they post is viewable to anybody, and thus the barrier between public and private life is broken down.

This chart represents the 3rd step in conflict resolution and information sharing. The results are pretty simple. With no technical issues blocking the path of communication, the individuals are free to express their own relative hurdles in reaching "Topic A". Though they may experience similar symptoms ("Problem #"), the resolution comes when they define these objects and understand each other. The unknown problems ("!" and "@" unknown to opposite individuals) will become new points of knowledge when expressed, creating new mental structures (on relative interpretation) and can be resolved or internalized based on the goal of "Topic A".

It is possible for us to receive a standard understanding between 2 individuals and not have completely different viewpoints of the same subject due to measurement standardizations (e.g. foot, ounce, wavelength, etc).

The writings of Marco Polo played a role in supplanting the western tradition of learning through questioning and debate with the “text-based” memorization pedagogy of the orient. While the invention of the printing press greatly enriched the availability of ideas and thoughts, it also added voluminous amounts of information to be processed as part of a standard education. Now, Kindles and their kin make the sharing of digitized text more efficient, contributing to an overwhelming overload of facts. The resulting textual gridlock may in fact be making personalized learning an oxymoron, as students have increasingly less time and opportunity to internalize anything other t

TAXONOMY

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Mollusca

Class: Cephalopoda

Order: Sepiida

Family: Sepiidae (Cuttlefishes, shell internalized)

Genus/species: Sepia bandensis

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS: S. bandensis has 8 arms with rows of suckers along each and 2 feeding tentacles. It moves by the undulation of lateral fins that surround the body. Cuttlefish have an internal shell within their bodies that they can fill with more or less gas to create neutral buoyancy. The cuttlebone is often collected and used as a calcium supplement, beak sharpener, and all-purpose toy for caged birds.

Like most cephalopods, cuttlefish have 3 hearts. Two hearts pump blood to the gills, and a central heart pumps oxygenated blood to the body.

Length up to 10 cm (4 inches)

DISTRIBUTION/HABITAT: The Indo-Pacific region, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.

Found in shallow coastal waters near or on coral reefs or sandy substrates.

DIET IN THE WILD: Crustaceans and fish. The Cuttlefish changes colors and patterns as it approaches prey then ejects its feeding tentacles to capture its prey with its suckers and eating it with a parrot-like beak and a radula. Active diurnally.

ACADEMY DIET: Shrimp and crab (M Avila, staff biologist)

LONGEVITY: Life span: 6 mos. to 3 yrs.

REMARKS: Masters of camouflage, cuttlefish and most cephalopods can change their colors, shapes and textures in seconds to avoid predators and blend into their surroundings. They have keen vision, but are color blind.

They also produce large amounts of ink, both as a decoy and foul-tasting deterrent. Known as sepia ink, after the genus name of cuttlefish, it was a dye once prized by artists.

The Steinhart Aquarium is the first institution in the U.S. to breed dwarf cuttlefish. To date, (2010) more than 350 have hatched at the Academy, most of which have been sent to other aquaria and research institutions. Quote from Rich Ross, Academy biologist and cuttlefish breeder extraordinaire: Over time, [cuttlefish] learn to recognize and respond to you, and will often greet you when you walk into the room (or maybe they just know you bring the food). They are smart, beautiful and unusual, and unlike certain other eight-armed cephalopods (think octopus), they don’t try to escape from your aquarium!

Friedrich can be regarded as the consummate master of early Romantic landscape painting. His work would have sufficed by itself to form our notion of Romantic painting. The symbolic language of his landscapes derives its vocabulary from the study of nature, and is based on a meditative internalization of the experiences of the senses.

This painting conveys Friedrich's impressions of the countryside in the Bohemian mountains south of Teplitz. Our gaze is taken to the right to Mount Milleschauer, and then, because of the painting's symmetrical structure, to the equally sweeping profile of a second mountain, the Kletschen, to the left. The eye returns from the bluish-green silhouette of these distant mountains to the luscious green sloping pastures at the front. From there it travels down the path to the low-built house in the valley lying, half-concealed, amidst the trees and bushes; the presence of human life is revealed by the column of smoke rising from its chimney. Or we may climb in our minds up the hill to the right of the house, which becomes an increasingly pale yellowish-green with height, perhaps to gain an even better perspective of the landscape. The ease with which the beginning of this path in the foreground takes us on a tour of the scene seems to correspond with the tranquil state of mind brought about by the painting, and accords perfectly with its depiction of nature. With its wonderful delicacy and its relaxed, serene mood, the painting must be one of the most beautiful landscapes in German art.

Our Other Body

With brutality and humor, Barkan digs through a living body to reveal our internalized racism. Our Other Body is a performance about domination and racism today. It explores how these forces are embodied in us. The performance uses the body as a theater for an intimate, playful and sincere discourse about these critical influences in our life.

This forlorn, lumpy, unintentionally trapezoidal, craptacular swatch is my first-ever knitted item, circa (I think) 2005. The mohair halo somewhat masks just how crappy my stitches are, and the difference in tension at the tight cast-on edge at the very top where the very first, gnarliest stitches are, versus the stockinette at the bottom is just astonishing. Humble beginnings!

So yeah, now every time someone says to me “Ohh I could never learn to knit like you can!” I can show them this photo. Learning to knit? I bet your first swatch can’t be as bad as this. And it only gets better! Want to make things that are awesome? Don’t worry, just keep knitting.

Choch is also a feature length narrative film, independently produced and shot in Calgary on a shoestring budget by the award-winning creator of Generation Why.

The film is a portait of a man struggling with an unattractive and misleading “choch” identity he’s developed for himself over a number of years. Day after day he recoils at the things he says and does, but is confined to complacency and self-hate by the same insecurities that birthed his false persona in the first place. A cycle of regret and resignation seems doomed to repeat itself until circumstance manifests a confrontation between the outward and the inner self, suggesting that perhaps there is hope for this partially assembled soul to be more than what he pretends to be.

Combining anti-aesthetic vérité photography and ostentatious new-wave editing with internalized and heavily improvised performances, Choch offers a highly symbolic and sparingly evocative portrait of a post-modern self in crisis.

Andrew Wyeth - 1917 - 2009

Cranberries - 1966

______________________________________________

The watercolors in this show reflect Andrew Wyeth’s career-long project of transforming his subjects into forceful and compelling meditations on how we conceptualize what we see. The visual power of each painting relies on simple contrasts between dark and light. Much like ancient Chinese calligraphy or modern abstract expressionist techniques, Wyeth’s intuitive, efficient brushstrokes internalize the dynamic energy of gesture as they simultaneously define and anchor each composition’s overall structural framework. The viewer’s eye sees only what is necessary to construct meaning from experience.

Inspired as a teenager by the watercolors of Winslow Homer, Wyeth struggled to replicate the master’s rendering of atmospheric effects. In 1937, only one year after painting Tending the Net, Wyeth enjoyed commercial success with a sold-out exhibition of watercolors in New York City. By that time he had abandoned Homer’s tidy realism for a more expressive, color-saturated style. The work exhibited here exemplifies the maturing artist’s restless experimentation with paint application and texture that ultimately achieved an emotional status for the most mundane objects and environments.

fascism (M.N. Roy, 'War and Revolution,' pg. 101). The charge of fascism is nothing but a nefarious design of the left to stifle nationalist forces. .

Internalizing Positive Energy

The story behind this picture is not simple. It is inspired by the positive energy brought by the rainbow’s 7 perfect color combinations when it was passed on my feet while I am walking along the river . It is an extraordinary event that rainbow created another image . Water and sunlight have produced a human face with illuminating light concentrating to internalize the positive energy.

This work takes place through Operation Acolhida, which is an organized response by the Brazilian government in partnership with PAHO and other international organizations and Brazilian institutions.

Operação Acolhida involves actions at the border, welcoming, protecting and internalizing migrants and refugees, offering assistance from the first contact.

The municipality of Pacaraima is approximately 200 kilometers from the capital of Roraima, Boa Vista. In both locations, Operação Acolhida offers shelters equipped to guarantee food, safety and health. These shelters have specific spaces for groups in vulnerable situations, such as indigenous people, LGBTQIAPN+, elderly people and people with disabilities.

As soon as they arrive, migrants undergo a health screening, receiving the vaccines provided for in the Brazilian Vaccination Calendar through the SUS.

They also have access to all health services in the country, including Primary Care, with prenatal care, diagnosis and treatment of communicable diseases, among other health care, both in Boa Vista and in its next destinations, which are defined in the internalization process.
