Being a big fan of Fc Bayern München, I decided to go to Madrid for 4 days in May 2010 since Bayern were playing Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Madrid. I couldn't afford tickets for the game, but wanted to go anyway to support my team, soak up the atmosphere, and hang out with fans of both teams. I also really wanted to go abroad again, experience another culture and hopefully get some good photos. I had an amazing time, despite the fact FC Bayern lost 2-0.

One of my favorite parts of Italian football is watching Italian fans watch Italian football. Grown men grow aggravated near tears, their hands flailing as they spew poetic curse words with bittersweet gusto at an imaginary ref. This match was scoreless, so I didn't get to witness emotions of victory — only frustration.

The red & white cross of St George is on the many water fountains and the flag flys prominently all over Milan (alongside the Italian Tricolore and sometimes EU flag), but this one was blue on white, a bit like a centred Finnish flag. Dunno why.

Actually, maybe this was for the Inter Milan footy team (Nerazzurri, "black-blues"), to have a go at their cross-town arch-enemies AC Milan (Rossoneri, "red-blacks").
