When I took this photo and others, I was still sitting on a bench on the school grounds.
What I didn't know was that I was under video surveillance.
After 12 minutes, the security guard arrived and kindly asked me to leave the school grounds.
Instructor Michael briefed us how to handle the paddle.

It is a basic human right to defend your life and the life of your family should they be in imminent mortal danger. For those who choose to do so, it is their responsibility to learn how to safely carry and use a firearm... It is my goal to make sure people do not take this responsibility lightly and teach them to pray that, every time they holster their pistol, they need never have to use it.

A lone Drill Instructor walks the long hallway at MCRD, San Diego.
This hallway is 1/2 mile long. It spans the length of the parade deck plus the parking lots on either side. This is just half of it.

Ladies first:-) I do admire them for going through the toughest military recruit training in USA. I am not sure if I would be able to do that! :-) The leading lady is, of course, their Drill Instructor.

reposting an old one that i rediscovered in the photostream when discussing our museum visit with my DD. this was on the lawn of the decordova sculpture park and museum in lincoln, MA. the instructor was going around discussing the students' work with them and i caught this shot........
this was just after i started taking pictures, using a little sony P&S. i wasn't even posting to groups back then
