Well my friends WELCOME to 2018 .A year of peace, joy and happiness.

A year made for manifestation and wishes fullfield but also for love, tolerance and kindness.

A year in which for the sake of humanity and of our own happiness we need to remember how to build bridges, unions and relationships instead of breaking them how we did last year.

A year thatt I know it can make all our dreams come true and the world a better place, if we can only stick together in a place of love and positivity and not allow personal fears, frustrations and failures to turn us one against each other.

A year in which I know we can really find the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change what can be changed and the wisdom to know the difference if we understand the importance of it.

A year that I know it can become the best one ever no matter the cicumstances if we can only decide that it will be so and hold this decision in our hearths with love and faith all through our daily ups and downs.

Happy New Year!!! my friends.

And much peace&love to

you all!

existential rivalry instead of searching a way of co-existence. Dedicated to our FLICKR friend Wolfgang Bayer.

Last one from our trip to the Lake District for now, I have loads more but I feel like mixing things up a bit for the rest of the week.

No trip to the lakes is complete without a reflection shot, and as we had failed to get any reflections at Buttermere we stopped at Rydal Water instead. We hadn't planned to go here, but as we were driving past we saw the lake was flat as a pancake so made a quick pit stop.

The Autumn colours were just starting to come out and it really did look beautiful. We had about an hour here, but the wind soon picked up and the water started getting a bit choppy so we headed off to the pub for some lunch.

As much as I appreciated comments and feedback I would request no Awards or flashy gif comments, please. They will be deleted. Thank you.

Gardena German retractable water hose reel makes life much neater,

I bought one 4 years ago for the back garden, I was so impressed I purchased another last year, if you have one I have a suggestion, as the hose retracts wrap a cloth around the hose that will clean all the debris instead going in the real.

No more straggling to untangle hoses, it is worth the money I spend.

Have a great weekend,

This week I have been working on merging photos with flower backgrounds. Instead of using blends I have tried to use masks to remove or fade parts of the photos that I don't wants. I am still trying to find a suitable topic for my final submission.

Instead of using one of my photos, I combined two DDG styles and I love the results.

Hanna House combines a solid concrete structure, with floor to ceiling glass panels, creating the most stunningly contemporary and modern home. While concrete might not be the warmest of home materials, thankfully we don't have to worry about that in Second Life. However, I've created this scene in a warm beach like setting, to create a beautiful cool home to step into from the heat. This could just as perfectly work as a mountain, cliff side home. An open plan design standing at less than 40 prims means this home is ideal for smaller parcels. Especially matched with a minimal decor style makes for an easily achievable, elegant home.

The Pacific Brown Pelican differs a bit in color from the mature brown pelicans on the Atlantic coast. The PBP's pouch is multi-colored--green with red instead of a singular brown. The eye of the PBP is a pale blue vs. brown. The PBP's silvery streaking on the feathering is also visible on this bird.

This will probably be the last of the swirly shots but I saw this quote which I thought was very apt at this present time....... DON'T FAN THE FLAMES OF DESPAIR BUT IGNITE THE FLAMES OF HOPE INSTEAD.

“Instead of water we got here a draught of beer…a lumberer’s drink, which would acclimate and naturalize a man at once—which would make him see green, and, if he slept, dream that he heard the wind sough among the pines.”

The medieval castle on a cliff rising on the eastern side of the valley of the Hernád River, in the immediate vicinity of Boldogkőváralja. The Miocene andesite tuff Bodókő Hill, on which the castle stands, is part of the Zemplén Landscape Protection Area. Due to the beauty of the landscape and the relatively good condition of the castle, it is a popular hiking destination, which is one of the stops of the National Blue Tour.

The earliest part of the castle (an old tower surrounded by a fortification) was probably built after the Tartar invasion and was erected either by Ispán Tyba, son of Jaak of the tribe of Tomaj, or by Judge Aba Amadé. When Károly Róbert Anjou chased the Aba, the castle came to the Drugeth family, which was loyal to him, and later to Péter Czudar. In the 15th century, it became the property of Serbian princes István and György, and then of the Szapolyai family. In Turkish times, he often changed hands as one of the venues for the intense battles between the emperor and the king. It was acquired by the conquering György Rákóczi in 1666, later it became important several times in the Kuruc times, but even before the Rákóczi War of Independence, in 1701, it was made uninhabitable by the emperors. The ruin was taken possession of by the Jesuits in the 18th century, who used it as a grain warehouse. Later it became the property of the Péchy and then the Zichy family, who, however, no longer lived in the uncomfortable fortress, instead using a baroque castle built in the area of the serf village. Despite the bombing of imperial soldiers and the devastating centuries that followed, it is one of our best-preserved medieval castles.

Instead of sailing off into the sunset, he hopes to sail into the next century

So the other evening not too long before sunset and after it had been raining off and on, there was a momentary break in the clouds that didn't last long. But it was long enough that the sun shone through, lit up the clouds to the east, and like magic a rainbow appeared. I thought about going outside with my camera to try to capture it, but decided instead to take a shot of it through the skylight in our kitchen. A couple of minutes later the rainbow was gone, so I was happy that I decided to photograph it from inside as I probably would have missed it if I had gone outside to find a clear view of it.

Thanks as always to everyone who stops by to view, fave, and comment on my photos - it is much appreciated.

Went up there one morning with my friend Otto Berkeley who is an amazing photographer but unfortunately doesn't post on Flickr anymore (Instagram instead). The breakfast in Duck & Waffle was lovely, the views too, just a shame the windows were fully misted up so we couldn't see a thing from our table... haha... luckily the view from the bar was ok so managed to snap couple of shots

Tateyama is a large volcano. The name does not refer to a specific peak but to the group of peaks associated with the volcano.

Murodou (室堂) as well as Midagahara (弥陀ケ原) and Bijo-daira (美女平) to the west are a sequence of lava plateau.

Murodou (室堂) is located at an altitude of 2,450 m. There is a transfer station between Tateyama Tunnel Trollybus and the bus service to/from Bijo-daira (美女平) near Tateyama town proper. There is a network of trails marked by poles to explore the volcanic terrain in Murodou including hotsprings, ponds, religious buildings etc.

Tateyama is directly hit by the northwestern monsoon in winter. There is no weather station in Murodo as it is completely closed down from December to early April due to heavy snowfall. Unazuki weather station, not far from Murodou in the the Kurobe-gawa gorge, records an average annual precipitation of 3,587 mm. Murodou is supposed to have more precipitation. Wettest months are December and January.

This photo was taken at the end of April.

You can ski in Tateyama until June. There is no lift but instead you can take bus to climb back to Murodou.

With a shoulder height of up to 90 cm and a weight of 100 kg, the Puma is one of the largest predatory cats in the world. Nevertheless, he is not scientifically one of the big cats, but one of the small cats. His next relative is the Jaguarundi, also called weasel cat.

Unlike big cats such as lion, tiger, leopard and jaguar, the puma cannot roar. Instead, he often produces scream-like sounds.

I often paint from my photographs. It is really a lot of fun. I don't try to copy the photograph, instead I just use it as artistic inspiration. Anyway, I just thought that I would share this little one on this beautiful Saturday morning!

The church has been delivered to the museum from Kysorychi village in Rokytnivskyi district of Rivnenska Region. It was built by local masters at the end of 18th Century. According to M. Teodorovych, its tops were changes in 1871, and it became one-domed instead of three-domed. Reports of Emperor’s archeological expedition witness that at the beginning of 20th Century (in 1909) the church had to be dismounted due to its emergency state. Although, it was not broken down due to high artistic value of its iconostasis. The iconostasis did not survive until nowadays, except for only four fragments of a unique hewn altar.

As of the moment of purchase there of by the museum in 1978, there were no domes at all. In this connection, they have been re-made according to Polissia typology. The reconstruction was headed by the author of Polissia display, Vergovskyi S.V., inasmuch contours of old ones remained unknown.

This is a religious building; its dimensions are 15.9 x 7.3 m; total area: 116.07 square meters.

This is a building of three rooms, built of pine-tree timbers. The walls are fixed with halving cutouts, made in upper parts of the timbers. The square aisle of the church is its smallest room (4.9 x 4.9), the nave is also square and the biggest one (7.3 x 7.3); the altar room is also almost square (5.3 x 5). The central part is the widest one; its walls extend beyond the side timbers. The church is not covered with planks. The all three floors thereof are tent-shaped. The whole construction is supported by oak piles vidzemky, imbedded around the perimeter.

The premises of the church house a permanent exposition “Religion antiques of Ukraine”. It displays the pieces of arts: icons, triple candleholders, sculptures, church’ bowls of 18th – 20th Century.

The more I feel I progress in photographic pursuits, the more I am interested in creating setting images for the birds and wildlife I portray so instead of just “filling the frame” with the bird image per se I like to set a living scene. Hope you all like it.

Acacia pycnantha, most commonly known as the golden wattle, is a tree of the family Fabaceae. It grows to a height of 8 metres and has phyllodes instead of true leaves. The profuse fragrant, golden flowers appear in late winter and spring, followed by long seed pods. Wikipedia

The golden wattle is the floral emblem of Australia with its masses of sunshine yellow balls of flowers brightening the bush and gardens in late winter to early spring. It grows from 2 to 10 metres tall and is fast growing, but sadly can be short lived. Adapts to most soils as long as they are free draining, and can take some frost and dry periods. Performs best in temperate climate zones. A useful plant- the flowers are fragrant and can be used for making perfume, the seed is edible and the bark is rich in tannins. Green seed can be cooked like peas. Ripe seed can be baked then ground with a mortar and pestle into a low glycaemic flour.

Note– this plant originates from South Australia, but has become a problem plant in some areas where it is becoming weedy and competing with the natural species. Southern Western Australia is one area where this happening. (Gardening with Angus)

Instead of a river sand bar in sub-Saharan Africa, this Egyptian Plover finds itself on a the edge of an artificial pond in Toledo (Ohio).

This strikingly-colored plover is a resident of the Toledo Zoo.

This 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT, driven by Urs and Arlette Muller, was sporting a set of black wire wheels at the Goodwood Revival instead of its usual Borrani silver set I've seen it with previously, adding a sense of menace to the car that was previously missing. It also looks like the suspension has been worked on as well, with the car sitting slightly lower than normal (although this may be the combination of wheels/offset/angle of shot that give this illusion).

I've struggled to find any information about this DB4GT, so don't know its provenance, although I think its likely to be a continuation/replica given that there were only 75 genuine DB4GT's produced, 6 of which were in the lightweight spec where aluminium was used along with some extensive drilling of solid parts and stripping of luxury items such as the radio, clock, window washer bottle and bumpers.

A number of standard DB4GT's were brought closer to the lightweight spec after they were produced, but its not clear how extensive this was in terms of fitting of aluminium panels or the drilling of the chassis members.

The DB4GT itself is shorter in the wheelbase by 5 inches compared to the regulat DB4, and features closed headlights abd the larger bonnet vent. In keeping with Aston Martins luxury ethos, the DB4GT's were still fitted with leather upholstery and wilton carpets, something I'm sure was soon replaced or removed by owners keen to further improve performance.
