Nearby the Texaco sign from my prior post is this little lighthouse. I never actually went down there at night to see if it was operational. I thought it was kind of cool, nonetheless. There was also a mockingbird that kept landing on it and trying out its best impressions.

Between some modern architecture apartments, Compton Gardens, and Crystal Bridges in Bentonville is this sculpture. It's surrounded by a garden and also houses its own miniature garden in its heart.

Hopefully this week I'll be feeling better and get around to converting this camera to use 600 and i-Type film. Getting the capacitors swapped in these is right work! I think it may be my favorite Polaroid camera!

Went down to the photography shop in town this morning to see if I could find a photo to Celebrate 177 years of photography.
There weren't any camera as such in the shop, but they had a few in the window and this one caught my eye, a modern instant camera.
I changed the photo to sepia and added an antique look for effect.
Maybe better viewed large.

Thank you for your favourites. :O)
We got pretty lucky to have made it back to our car just before this massive thunderstorm hit. The ominous clouds moving in made for excellent contrast to the white church, so of course I took a photo or two. Shortly after, the heavens opened up and dense curtains of rain exploded into existence. It was a slow drive home and quite the experience!

Polaroid's black and white film has become quite good in the years since being brought back from the dead. This is a neat little part of some newer construction in Bentonville on a cloudy day. The monochrome film combined with the lens on my Pronto makes for a lovely rendering.

I recently had a philosophical thought: most animals have shorter lives in captivity than in the wild. I wonder if there is a similar phenomenon in humanity. Today, we spend our lives leaving our sleeping box via our transport box to our public display. There we perform for our food and then return to our sleeping box. Sounds pretty similar to animals in a zoo or theme park.
At least in some of that rare free time we get, a trip to nature is possible. Getting out in the woods and walking is a nice recharge for the worn out soul. I still feel like I need a week off to spend outside, and a second week off to spend at home to recoup and deal with being an adult with home maintenance that needs doing, lol. Maybe some day.

This pair of children's Adirondack chairs were made by my friend Pamela and her father in 1994. They were made for her nephews who have well outgrown them. She gifted them to me for my grandchildren. They needed a little work, cleaning and I had to paint her nephews' names out of the center stile.
Still testing the Fuji Instax Mini 9, a camera that showed up in a bin of discarded cameras at ReclaimIt! (previous post).

I haven't been on Flickr for several months, so hope everyone is doing ok in these troubling times. I've been trying to keep myself busy with sorting out and taking Polaroids. Just wish scanning them was easier, keeping getting Newtons rings. Sigh!
