This is one of my favorite river spots in the Colorado Rockies. Perhaps the best light and color I've ever captured on Instax, too.

Here is once again a view of my beloved solitary tree, captured as summer was coming to an end. The photo, taken with a Polaroid 1000 Land Camera, remains one of my most treasured moments. To my great sorrow, I have now discovered that this wonderful old maple has been cut down — such a heartbreaking piece of news.
Gideon has three Lamby's, two little ones, one black one white, and the big white one. He treats them all with respect. He likes to use them to rest his chin, and will snuggle with them too. Sometimes he plays with them, but they do not play back very well.

Ever have a photo turn out quite different to your intent and end up liking it a lot anyway? This was one of those. I knew the scene was high contrast for Polaroid. However, this pack of film didn't perform as well as the rest I have used lately. It was extra contrasty, had way less DR, and was super saturated. Not sure if it was a batch thing or just that it spent too long on store shelves at room temp.
Either way, a cool subject with interesting lighting still made for a great photo! This scene was so contrasty it may have turned out the same regardless. I'm cool with that though. How awesome is a glowing old house, with dark blue skies, surrounded by blackness in October?

Eastern White Cedar.
Purchased this summer from Gretchen O'Brien at River Rock Nursery. I let them acclimate to my yard and recently pruned and thinned them. I slip potted the taller one, and removed the upper extensions of the other two. The structure of the trees reminds me of black spruce in the boreal forest of Alaska. I intend to plant them as a group next spring, and perhaps add a few more.
Described as follows: "An exceptional dwarf form of the Eastern White Cedar. Columnar slow growth. Prune out or plant a grove."

Watching the storm approach Bentonville last Sunday was awesome. The clouds were an ominous omen to the downpour that arrived shortly after this photo was made. That weather provided some amazing light and contrast for photography up until the rain arrived.
On the gear side, I'm definitely going to have to try to convert my Pronto Sonar to use i-Type and 600 film. I brought it for color and my manual focus Pronto (that is already converted) for black and white. They both performed quite well, but the Sonar could use a mirror cleaning. I think once converted, it will be my favorite Polaroid box camera.

Wading in the river with my favorite Polaroid camera was a little sketchy, but this photo of my uncle and a couple others turned out great!
The purpose of this trip to the river was to try a little fishing. We didn't expect or get too much. It's been so hot and the water is so low in Colorado. We even restricted our fishing to the coolest parts of the day to protect the fish due to how high the water temps got this year. It was both nice to be in the river enjoying nature, and a little sad to see how bad conditions were.
