Buddhas and gods are everywhere in Thailand.
Other religions are present - there was a Thai Protestant church
next to our hostel in Chiang Mai, and a large, Thai Catholic
cathedral in Bangkok - but the religion that inspired art works
like this massive, ancient Buddha at Sukhothai was,
and most definitely still is, the all-pervading, all-dominating force
behind most of Thai society, culture and daily life.
