Ginkgo biloba (prehistoric tree) 2020 photo - Common Name: Maidenhair tree, Size at 10 years: 60x50ft., Fan shaped leaves, insignificant flower, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, In Garden Bed U3 for 22.8 YEARS (-). Planted in 1997.
Missouri Botanical Garden: Ginkgo biloba is a large, deciduous tree that matures to 100' tall and is considered to be a living fossil. It is the only surviving member of a group of ancient plants believed to have inhabited the earth up to 150 million years ago. It features distinctive two-lobed, somewhat leathery, fan-shaped, rich green leaves with diverging (almost parallel) veins. Leaves turn bright yellow in fall. Ginkgo trees are commonly called maidenhair trees in reference to the resemblance of their fan-shaped leaves to maidenhair fern leaflets (pinnae). Ginkgos are dioecious (separate male and female trees). Nurseries typically sell only male trees (fruitless), because female trees produce seeds encased in fleshy, fruit-like coverings which, at maturity in autumn, are messy and emit a noxious, foul odor upon falling to the ground and splitting open.
Have one on the NE fenceline and another near the birdhouse garden in front. Makes you think. Leaves are used to make “extracts” that are used as medicine. Oldest living tree species. Can live as long as 1,000 years and grow to a height of 120 feet.

I don't know if this is a weed in Spanish terms, as it was quite an unimposing flower, but had it's own beauty nonetheless!
It may seem a little insignificant but I can't explain how excited I am to finally have a kitchen cupboard. The new kitchen is nearing completion. Yesterday I bought kettle, toaster, and bin for when it's all finished but the landlord/builder said it was OK to put stuff in a couple of the cupboards. I dashed off to IKEA and came back with plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery.
Tomorrow I'm off to Amsterdam till the weekend and then off to Athens on Sunday (both are conferences - not vacation) so I won't be around much over the next 10 days.
Taken with a Nikon 105mm micro lens. The domestic fly whilst small and appearing insignificant, is in reality a highly complex biological wonder.
So today in my life its been pretty insignificant. However today marks the day of a legend. A man who single handily revolutionised the music industry and the 1950s. Men wanted to be him and women wanted their bf's and husbands to be him. His dancing and crazy stage antics are legendary in the music world. People still want to be him and some sort of are. But today. Today, 33 years ago, he died a sad death. And for that I remember Elvis Presley.
Anyhoo this is a photo of my guitar in a photo joiner. I wanted something to mark Elvis' death so instead of me dancing i figured a guitar would be better! :)

"I Don't Believe"
Acts of kindness, like breadcrumbs in a fairytale forest
Lead us past dangers as light melts the darkness
But I don't believe, and I'm not consoled
I lean closer to the fire, but I'm cold
The earth was born in a storm
The waters receded, the mountains were formed
"The universe loves a drama," you know
And ladies and gentlemen this is the show
I got a call from my broker
The broker informed me I'm broke
I was dealing my last hand of poker
My cards were useless as smoke
Oh, guardian angel
Don't taunt me like this, on a clear summer evening as soft as a kiss
My children are laughing, not a whisper of care
My love is brushing her long chestnut hair
I don't believe a heart can be filled to the brim
Then vanish like mist as though life were a whim
Maybe the heart is part of the mist
And that's all that there is or could ever exist
Maybe and maybe and maybe some more
Maybe's the exit that I'm looking for
I got a call from my broker
The broker said he was mistaken
Maybe some virus or brokerage joke
And he hopes that my faith isn't shaken
Acts of kindness
Like rain in a draught
Release the spirit with a whoop and a shout
I don't believe we were born to be sheep in a flock
To pantomime prayers with the hands of a clock

The Day of the Coronation of Queen Galainir, Vanos sat in a Tavern in a small insignificant town somewhere north East of Ainesford. He and his companions had spent the last few months slowly making their way North through Loreos and finally across the war torn borderlands into central Lenfald. They had managed to fence most of their ill begotten salvage along the way and were now sitting on a small fortune in gold and gems. His uncle Thurageson was spending the afternoon helping to re-thatch the roof of the inn they were staying at. He claimed it was because he was loath to leave their loot unguarded, but Vanos was certain it had more to do with the widow Hanna, the innkeeper. And Trakenar heavily cloaked and hooded was discreetly keeping an eye on the local lords keep.
So Vanos had decided to stop in a nearby tavern and spend a little of his coin on drink and song. The tavern was unusually quiet, it seemed most of the townsfolk were up at the keep celebrating the crowning of the Queen. It seemed that most of the people of Rowia were overjoyed at the prospect of a New Queen. Vanos was not so sure. Why would one rich, powerful fool be any better than those who had come before? So he sat, casually discussing nothing important with the Barkeep and enjoying his fine stout.
“Blackfyre?” an unknown voice said.
Vanos turned to his right, seeing a man of average height wearing all red and hooded to boot standing near the next barstool. A man in armor also cloaked and hooded with a Red Dragon on his tabard stood near the door. “I am Vanos Blackfyre.” He said
“Ah finally. You are not an easy man to find my friend.” The man said with a smile as he reached into the folds of his cloak. “I have a message to deliver to you.”
“If it’s another invitation to the feast at Lord Caldabra’s keep, I’m not interested.”
The man’s smile wavered for a moment. “No friend, it is not an invitation. In fact I would suggest avoiding the keep tonight. This is simply a message handed from my master, to me, and from me to you.”
The man was not being completely honest, Vanos knew. But he was not hiding the fact that he was dishonest. Vanos suddenly decided he liked this stranger. He stood and took the offered envelope. “I would enjoy it if you were to sit and share a few tales Sir. I’ll buy this round?”
The man smiled once again and briefly looked over his shoulder at the other man. “Alas, Vanos, I have other business to be about. Another time we shall indeed share some stories.” He turned and began to walk away.
“I’ll hold you to that stranger.” Vanos said as he returned to his seat. “Enjoy your evening at the keep…”
The stranger halted mid step, and the armored man moved to draw his sword. But a sharp gesture from the Red cloaked man and a shake of the head later the two men made for the exit.
Vanos finished his drink, put the unopened letter in his deepest pocket and prepared to head back to the inn. “Stay indoors tonight lass he said to the barkeep”. Tonight, he thought, would be a good time to get out of town.
We talk about the American dramas after dinner. How do you think about the new release show Homeland DVD? Oh my gosh, why did I let myself get sucked into this program! There are a couple of bush-league moments in the show.... those are minor quibbles, made even more insignificant by the extraordinary performances of Danes, Lewis, Patinkin and Baccarin. True Blood DVDhas a bit of everything for everybody. Very original, great choice of casting, believable storyline too , ( which I know sounds strange). All I can say is watch the show. Breaking Bad DVDis the best show ever made! An absolute thrilling ride from the very first second!!!! The writing and acting in this show is second to none. My brother received a DVD present, He said this show is very very good. The first season was short, but it showed great potential and after season 1 the show took off. Season 2 and on have been phenomanol. That’s The Office dvd. Despite a few missteps, there's much to recommend Doctor Who dvdAs a Fantasy show, doctor who played an important role among those Si-Fi shows. There are total 11 doctors in the show.Matt Smith(Eleventh Doctor) is the best doctor and he will join in season 7. We all love to watch Criminal Minds dvd. "Criminal Minds" doesn't present any spin on the crime TV genre you haven't seen before, save for taking savagery against female victims to new heights. Victims in this series are usually more intelligent than the "smart" investigators. But awesome music score every week. Most fans never miss an episode of this show. All All ghosts, aliens, vampires, demons you will find in Supernatural DVD set on salewhich features all 158 episodes. This is the show I look forward to the most every week. If you've stayed away because you've seen stills of the leads and have figured it's just another CW "Cute Boy Show" you were wrong. Supernatual cost 10 years prepairation by Eric Kripke. That’s really worth of you watching. Now season 8 of Supernatural is hot on Buy dvd set. The hottest show in 2012 is Sons of Anarchy DVD! This show was beautifully crafted from the word go. It has heart, excellent dialogue and yes it is catchy and you can dance to it. My partner and I plowed through both seasons one and two with a wrecking ball and are anxious for the third season to be released on DVD.

it may seem insignificant that i'm sitting in this chair, may seem ridiculous that i'm pleased at how clear it is, in light of how junky the rest of the room is. the chair, though, is a symbol of progress. for the past three months or more (my entire last quarter at school), this chair has been stacked high with clean clothes. i'd put the dirties in the laundry bag, wash when i'd completely run out of underwear, and throw all the clean clothes on the chair straight out of the dryer. imagine that system of organizing your wardrobe.
clearing this chair was the first battle in winning the war to make my room feel like home...

Us deixo un article on almenys li donen importància aquí.
Minneriya Lake in northern Sri Lanka is a major tourist attraction for the large herds of elephants which come by for their evening drink.
This being my first visit to the area despite having lived in Sri Lanka for 15+ years was really great. The Park seems well funded, with a tastefully designed entrance with its own little museum.
It was sad however to see certain drivers needlessly antagonising the elephants to get the cheap thrill of an attack.
Elephants do NOT exist for OUR entertainment.
Due to a long drought in the area, trucks can now drive where the lake used to be. The sight of these small trucks within the mass expanse of the former lake basin makes you realise how truly small and insignificant we are.

Since 2009, Daniel Kerkhoff, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A., has been creating his own artist-in-residencies in communities in Ghana, Ecuador, and Vietnam.
Embedding himself in a community, he develops multiple connections through creating art (installations), writing poetic journals, making art with children, curating exhibitions, working with artists, assisting art libraries and community libraries, documenting walks and the community, and just being a part of everyday life.
Along with painting, collage, art installations, photography, and writing, his art practice involves connecting, sharing, and weaving people and places.

Assisting and creating libraries is part of my art practice.
During my art residencies, I continue to bring books and materials, art work, maps, magazines and journals, CDs, DVDs, and photos to the community centers in Adugyama, Ashanti Region Ghana and Sisid-anejo, Cañar, Ecuador. I also give a variety of art books, journals, and materials to fellow artists and art spaces.
In Accra, Ghana, I bring art books and magazines to The Nubuke Foundation and The Center for Contemporary Art, Ghana. In Cuenca, Ecuador, I'm connected to In-Arte Contemporáneo and bring art magazines and information. In Hanoi, I have provided various art publications and books to Cuci Fine Art, Chay Art, and Chaap Collective.
I bring art publications, art work, and music created by friends and colleagues of mine. I document their work in these different communities, creating another form of connection and awareness.
I consider this a weaving project, a form of sharing that can have many on-going effects. –Daniel Kerkhoff, www.danielkerkhoff.com
“Playing Catch, Giving and Receiving”
You are invited to play catch with my prints. Two dimensional prints that hang on the wall are transformed into three dimensional balls, a form of sculpture that is also performance and participatory.
Playing catch is a common past time that's relaxing and connecting. It is an act of giving (throwing) and receiving (catching) involving a ball, and, in this case, prints transformed into a ball (sculpture).
Instead of viewing the stationary print on a wall or a sculpture on the floor, it is viewed moving through time and space, dependent on the participants and their actions.
It is visual, transformative, therapeutic, sharing, interactive, and connecting, simple and playful actions of giving and receiving.

“Walking the Path, Prints on Prints”
You are invited to walk on my prints, using them as a path.
It’s another way of experiencing art like a stepping stone meditation,
a different awareness may take place on an intentional walk, slower,
deliberate, a winding pathway, your prints touching these prints.
You become, in a way, the performer, the participant, the collaborator,
your soles connecting and becoming a part of these prints, adding steps,
humbling, engaging, liberating, creating another connection.
The title of this series is: "Paper Trail, A4 (All Over the Place)" from "The Quiet and Ugly Artist (Hanoi, 1965-2015)". These prints are collages made from my daily life in Hanoi -- collections of receipts, maps, brochures, business cards, food wrappers and waste.
They are my journal, a record of my consumption and daily activities, stamped with symbols that reflect my connection with Hanoi. They are painted over,
fragments remain revealed, information becomes cloudy, is lost and buried, like memory and history.
I created these collages during my artist-in-residency in Hanoi from
February 6, 2015 to October 26, 2015.
Walking is an important part of my art residencies. I document a familiar route in the community I’m living in by walking slowly, taking photos, and picking up “treasures”.

Ginkgo biloba 'Troll' (Jeddeloh Nursery, Germany) 2020 photo - Common Name: Dwarf Ginkgo, Size at 10 years: 3x3ft., Green Foliage, Insignificant flower, USDA Hardiness Zone 4-10, In Garden Bed D0,08 for 158 DAYS (Duval). Planted in 2019.
Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery: A deciduous dwarf, arguably the slowest and most compact of all ginkgo dwarf forms growing only about 1" per year. Troll is a witches'-broom found in Norway but introduced by Jeddeloh Nursery in Germany around 15 years ago. Leaves are typically fan shaped and representative of the species except for being about half the size. Light gray to brown stems are distinctly stubby and thickened. A male form meaning no smelly fruit. Good for Bonsai or rock gardens.
Missouri Botanical Garden: ‘Troll’ is a dwarf shrubby cultivar that matures over time to only 3' tall and as wide. It typically grows in a bushy mound, although it can be trained to grow as a small pyramidal tree. As with species plants, the fan-shaped leaves (biloba means two-lobed) are rich green to blue green during the growing season, but change to bright yellow in fall.

I took these photos during a hike organized by the Anchorage Adventurers Meet-up group; this is a pretty cool group that organizes hikes, bike rides, and all sorts of outdoor activities. We took this hike on 7 June 2009; we couldn't ask for better weather. There were about 25 hikers at the start and people split up based on their skill level and speed; it was a great way to meet and chat with some new people. The trail was only scheduled to go to Little O"Malley Peak and the Ballpark but it was such a nice day about 6 of us took a route to Williwaw Lakes - it made for a very long day but it was definitely worth it. Enjoy.
