Ever stood near a waterfall and just felt totally powerless? It's only water and gravity after all.
This is Skógafoss Waterfall in Southern Iceland. The waterfall is 60m high and 25m wide - epic to stand near!

(adjective): too small or unimportant to be worth consideration.
Insignificant? Have a close look at the small ridge on the left hand side of the frame. You might just spot the skier perched there contemplating his/her next move.
We were skiing in Tignes, France and had just ascended one of the myriad of chairlifts that crisscross the mountains. The majority of the slopes were covered in ski tracks but every now and then you'd come across a section that was obviously difficult to access and therefore pristine in appearance. Whilst this section wasn't totally devoid of tracks only an intrepid few had traversed their way onto the slopes by foot looking for off piste virgin snow.
When you're in an environment like this with towering peaks and 360 degree vistas it really makes you realise just how insignificant we are. Conversely though you'll probably never feel more alive!

There are no words to describe how small and insignificant you feel standing at the rim of Grand Canyon... About 446 km of lenght, 29 km of width and 1.6 km depth is overwhelming.
The yellow dwarf gave me the traditional drowsiness, warming me from the East, banding together with your soft way of driving. What a brightness and confort, and what a disaster of copilot. Suddenly, I jump into action and say an enthusiasthic good morning, receiving your always kind reply, already knowing that I was going to fall sleep again soon. This temperature in November does not help in the task of waking myself up for the winter season. The land is dry because of the drought, although the summits are slightly snowed and the trees have a beautiful orange colour on their leaves. Marvelous forests are hiding in the north-east of Andalucía, the land of does and stags, funny sheeps, wild boars and eagles. The Little cat and dog, Eustaquio and Leopoldo, guided us to secret places in where we could see the nature in it purest state. How insignificant are we in front of mother nature, and how acquiescent is she with us. Safe at your side, we walked around Sierra de Cazorla, meeting the date of my twenty-fourth birthday with, beautifully, no sorrow. Lovely environment to make decisions, discover new features on the night sky and wave a goodbye, for the moment, to the stage of discovering the land in where we were born. Half of the way, my dear. Let continue to the summit.
Having spent quite some time investigating copious amounts of conifer recently, I was over the moon to finally find a Red-headed Ladybird larva!!! A definite virtual cartwheels moment!! Too excited to wait until tomorrow to post about it!!! 😂

"Switching his attention from robots to fruit, with his first major new work since 2015's Where Now For Man Raised By Puffins? the artist powerfully explores an internal dynamic with the eternal and reciprocal struggle of being simultaneously the highest member of the citrus hierarchy whilst coming to terms with the all-pervasive homogenous sense of being imprisoned with one’s subordinates in the same environment. The viewer is left with a sense of wonder; am I the mighty orange, the insignificant clementine or perhaps the apple interlopers with their inclusion being an allusion to the migrant crisis just trying to find a sense of belonging, of home and above all, of striving to find meaning in life and harmony with one’s fellow fruit?"
Still Life With Googly Eyes runs until Sunday February 28 or until the artist’s wife gets fed up with him “arsing about with the fruit again”. Admission is free.

An ornamental shrubby climbing plant that is widely cultivated in the tropics. The insignificant flowers are surrounded by large, brightly coloured papery bracts which persist on the plant for a long time.

Have you noticed how small and insignificant we are in this universe? we are nothing, but we make a huge damage to our planet.
From the summit of Meall an Doire Dharaich (469m), with Loch Eilde Mòr on the right. A fairly short walk from Kinlochleven, Meall an Doire Dharaich is an insignificant hill compared to its neighbours to the north, with only about 75m of prominence, but is an excellent viewpoint.

Flowers produced by a 'hanging basket' type succulent with long trailers with very small varigated leaves. The flowers are very small, insignificant in colour and not easily spotted - but are quite unique in their form.
Whilst having a bite to eat I spotted this small boat making it's way along the shoreline, it struck me how insignificant it looked against the backdrop of sky and ocean.
The passage of time can be insignificant when two energies are in the same frequency.

I hear it, that constant dance your heart does inside your chest
it’s so steady, like a memory that refuses to fade
like black or white when colour is so unreliable
but as we lay there with the mystifying, bewildering pulse in our veins
I can’t help but wonder and fear that one day, one solemn day
when our entwined fingers lose all blistering feeling
and when that drop from the sky will leave us incapable and paralyzed
that exciting knowing that discovery was founded in something so bare
is enough to shatter this world when the people find their say
yet still like gray in a broken lover’s heart it was insignificant to the climax
no say and no power as im paralyzed
but I feel it, I feel this. the beat…repeating itself in all your fragility
I fear that one day when I’ll leave your heart without music
I fear that one day it will stop dancing inside your chest…

I kind of feel like all of the portraits lately look the same. goodness,

A couple spotted gazing at the Pyramid Mountain and the Canadian rockies, after hiking the Whistler mountain in Jasper National Park. In comparison of size (in front of the gigantic Pyramid mountain), their presence at the bottom right hand corner looks so insignificant, hence I decided to name this shot "insignificant love"
by volume removed anyway. more than a kilometre deep from the top of the pit and four to the other side, 7 billion tonnes plus removed, chuquicamata is a little wider & deeper, but it started flat and there used to be a mountain here.

No one apart from Him
can know our every thought,
can have such a grasp
of our nature and substance,
can judge the rebellion,
corruption of mankind,
work and speak among us
on behalf of God in heaven.
This ordinary, insignificant One
rejected by us,
is He not the Lord Jesus
ever in our thoughts,
whom we long for night and day?
It is He! Our God!
The truth, the way and the life!
II
No one but Him has the authority,
the wisdom, and the dignity of God.
God's disposition, what God has and is,
are issued forth from Him.
This ordinary, insignificant One
rejected by us,
is He not the Lord Jesus
ever in our thoughts,
whom we long for night and day?
It is He! Our God!
The truth, the way and the life!
III
None but Him can bring us light
and show the way,
reveal the mysteries
that God has not shown 'till today.
No one apart from Him
can save us from bondage,
our corrupt disposition from Satan.
He represents God,
utters the voice of God's heart,
His exhortations and
judgment of mankind.
This ordinary, insignificant One
rejected by us,
is He not the Lord Jesus
ever in our thoughts,
whom we long for night and day?
It is He! Our God!
The truth, the way and the life!
IV
He has brought a new age,
a new heaven and earth.
He brings new work and hope for us,
ending lives we led in obscurity,
letting us behold the path of salvation.
He has conquered our being
and gained our hearts.
Now our minds become conscious
and our spirits revived.
This ordinary, insignificant One
rejected by us,
is He not the Lord Jesus
ever in our thoughts,
whom we long for night and day?
It is He! Our God!
The truth, the way and the life!

David and I spent some time searching through Bulrushes yesterday, with no luck, so it was a great surprise when our target turned up, out of a grass tussock at the base of a tree, around the edge of the pond!!

Sometimes I like to find a large stretch of open land that stretches for miles, just to feel small and insignificant. A humbling experience.
Though there is a very insignificant water droplet in this photo, I like the image because of the petal tips and the mix of white and orange. Can't remember if I used my Raynox 250 for this - maybe I did, but didn't zoom in the whole way.
A quick couple of uploads this evening - have been out on a local New Year's Day Bird Count all day and I am SOOOO COLD. The kettle is on for a hot mug of coffee and hopefully I will stop shivering before midnight, LOL!! Hot soup sounds very appealing, too. I remember one day that I was colder, but trust me, today requires some serious thawing out! It was -22C (-35C with windchill) when I left the house before 8:45 a.m. and it was supposed to soar to a balmy -4C this afternoon, but certainly didn't. It's -14C right now at just after 6:00 p.m., but it felt like -30C all day! The last part of the afternoon was standing in more or less one spot for some of us, and I thought I was going to die, LOL. We were down by the river all afternoon, where of course the temperature drops, too.

revisiting my holiday photos as I delete some. I seem to have been taking photos mainly of the family recently - but that is just the way it goes. They are a large part of our lives. And, I think I have played more table tennis recently and not gone for so many walks with my camera. And that is the way it goes . . .
Frances is coming over for supper this evening. Back soon . . .

I was going through some B&W withdrawal !
I really don't use this Leica Summarit lens enough, a fantastic lens which gives a nice feel to the images. My version is 50 + years old and in fantastic shape. Many of the reviews you read on this lens say it is OK or too old as newer Leica lenses surpass it .... bullshit ! If you can get your hands on an inexpensive one, grab it !
The universe has a way of making you feel soo immensely insignificant... I could have taken more photos, and gotten more angles with different lenses, but sometimes you just have to set down your gear and just take everything in...

In my garden, this is the only plant I do not know the name of!
I bought it on the market, years ago, it had a lovely photo of how it would become, no name though... shows again how deceptive photos can be, LOL!
Anyway, it is not very big, very hardy, with insignificant small leaves, in late Spring... it grows insignificant little white flowers, mostly hidden under the leaves, in Summer it is ... just there?
Then comes Autumn, and the leaves turn on all the colours of the rainbow, for a few short weeks it becomes an ABSOLUTE focal point of attraction in the garden... pure GLORY... then it's gone again... till next year!
I thought I'd share this with you, bringing in a branch, in the studio I can really show you the glory.
THANK you for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated.
Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)

But they are exceedingly wise:
The ants are a people not strong,
Yet they prepare their food in the summer;" ---(Prov 30:24-25)
When one have beheld the immensity of the universe through the night sky, we feel insignificant enough to be truly humbled,
When one sees the zest for life even in the tiniest creatures, one would be inspired to make one's mark in this world...

The Copper Basin Railway's acid train to Ray Mine looks pretty insignificant compared to the backdrop provided by the Arizona desert. 4-5-17
If you want to be one of the first people to see the sunrise each day in the continental United States, head to Maine. A great place to capture the first light is Acadia National Park. While it is not the most eastern part of the state (West Quoddy Head is), it is pretty close. You also won't find a more beautiful part of the coast to shoot it from. The Maine Coast in Acadia is one of the most rugged in the US. Jagged rocks and boulders of all shapes and sizes are the norm for the coast. Every step might land on what looks like solid rock, but sometimes the rocks move unexpectedly.
There is nothing like the feeling of climbing to your spot on the rocks before the sun rises above the horizon. As you stand there waiting, the sound of the waves hitting the rocks, and the clouds beginning to light up in different shades of colors make you feel insignificant in the overall scheme of things. On this morning, the tide was out, so Thunder Hole was rather silent for the most part. Then the sun crests the horizon and you are glad that you were out of the hotel by 4:45 am to experience the scene.
Day 310 - Fri, Nov, 6
I find myself thinking about little insignificant things and don't know how to make sense of it all.
I find the contradictions between my beliefs, my desires, and my actions overwhelming.
I find the wants and needs of my reality blurred - beyond recognition at times.
I find the answers to such questions and nagging feelings serendipitously all around me.
Is it coincidence? Not sure.
