Found a little Scissor Bee (Chelostoma emarginatum, male) semi active in a Buttercup flower. Had to take the magnification to 4x for this one to get a portrait of him.
Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (4x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order.
A male Ruddy Darter (Sympetrum striolatum / Sympetrum sanguineum) striking a classic obelisk pose atop a seed head, catching the bright summer light. Notice the incredible detail in the transparent wing venation and the droplet resting near the wingtip. Another rewarding moment captured out in the field.
In the early morning I saw this common grass blue butterfly sleeping at the top of a plant. I felt like taking the picture before the sun rise give the wing to this butterfly.

I spotted this European Wool Carder Bee snoozing in some flowers around sundown and waited until the next morning to photograph it. But it was 23C (73F) and it didn't take long for it to wake up and fly off.

I do like that Millipedes love their sleep so much. If they haven't woken and moved off, then just brushing the leaves back again leaves them still slumbering.

There seem to be a lot more Common Wasps around this summer. This is of course a good thing even if many don't like them. They are hard workers, cleaners and pollinators.

Una doncella del género Melitaea descansa sobre una gramínea al caer la tarde, en ese momento previo al descenso de la temperatura en el que los lepidópteros buscan posaderos para pasar la noche. La luz lateral del atardecer modela suavemente la pelusa del tórax y realza el intrincado mosaico del reverso alar, donde cada celdilla blanca y naranja dibuja el patrón característico del género.
Las doncellas son ninfálidos diurnos asociados a praderas y herbazales, donde sus orugas se alimentan de plantáneas, escabiosas y otras herbáceas.

Gestern Früh konnte ich diesen jungen großen Blaupfeil einfangen mit meiner Kamera.
Ich gehe davon aus das Er erst vor kurzem geschlüpft ist, da die Farben noch nicht komplett ausgereift sind und die Flügel ziemlich weiß waren.
Technique: Sometimes the subject I'm shooting gets so use to me being close that it just goes about its business as if I'm not there. All I had to do is set the camera to under expose the natural light in the background, and I shaded the subject so that the flash was the only significant light source on the mantis (to freeze motion).
Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon EF-S 60mm macro lens with 37mm of extension + a diffused MT-24EX (flash head "A" set as the key and "B" as the fill, with the key on a Kaiser flash shoes). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.
Many creatures can be found in the wildflower meadows. One creature is the ‘Six-Spot Burnet Moth’ looking very similar to several other species of burnet moths. Six-Spot is one of the many insects who are poisonous, although it won’t harm you I don’t imagine it would taste very nice. Keep your eyes peels because you never know what creature you might come across!
