The green face is diagnostic.

The species is distinguished in that the female is bright green with a banded abdomen and the mature male has a blue abdomen with a green face and green and blue thorax.

The eastern pondhawk is native to parts of North America and Central America. The eastern pondhawk is an athletic, swift-flying predator, able to catch damselflies and other insect prey on the wing.

Common Baron butterfly (Euthalia aconthea).

This is a medium-sized nymphalid butterfly native to Sri Lanka, India, and Southeast Asia.

The male has a brown color with slight traces of olive.

The butterfly is known to fly with stiff wing beats and often glides.

Nymph R. microptera with its characteristic black and yellow-striped body.

Young nymphs are highly gregarious, and remain gregarious through most of the nymphal period, though the intensity dissipates with time. Especially at night, they tend to aggregate, and may climb vegetation to rest for the evening.
