Found at unnamed local park/forest west of Dawson Avenue in town of Theodore. Queensland, Australia.

 

Possibly Callibracon? Found on trunk of tree.

 

Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.

Shield Beetle seems to be standing it's Ground against a Human invasion.

I'm pretty sure it's what this ladybug would say to all my wonderful flickr friends if it could speak. :-)

I do not know insects any better than I do flowers.

Chalcid wasps on the bee hotel. Monodontomerus sp.

Hoverfly Scaeva selenitica, a very welcome infrequent visitor to the garden.

Insect scales come in all sorts of colors and shapes. These are from the elytra of a small weevil I photographed a while back (Curculionidae, see the first comment line).

Extreme macro based on a stack of 198 images (3 µm step); assembled in Zerene Stacker (Pmax). Sony A7Rmk3, 100-400 mm telelens as tube lens (at 265 mm), Mitutoyo Planapo 10x, ISO-50, 1/250s, one diffused flash. Image is ca. 1.2mm wide.

About a half inch long, they are fairly common but keep low to the ground in flight. This one is feeding on Buckwheat.

I caught this guy sticking his tongue out me.... their tongues are gross!

lovely coloured bug and the first one that I have seen for a couple of years

fulfils my obsession with insects and barbed wire. double yeah!
