Dragonfly in summer sun

In an insect world

Dragonfly drying out in sun – probably hatched out from Nymph stage .

Dragonflies do not live long – just days or a few weeks ,

In the nymph stage – they live for years , in mud in ponds .

Butterfly Farm, Stratford-Upon-Avon , new born just drying out wings

This little Praying mantid had just hatched ( I actually had the egg case or ootheca, in the laundry room, for safe keeping, that I had collected from client gardens) along with his siblings. Needless to say I quickly moved them out into the garden near flowers. With any luck I will be feeding him crickets by late summer!
