Part of my project ›Borderland, Borderless‹ - an inquiry along the former inner-German border.
Even more than 30 years after the reunification of Germany, there is this borderless borderland. All objects photographed form a topography of this particular society.
A book about this project will be published at the end of 2021, this picture however is not in the book.

I love the doors, it is a photographic subject that I really like, because they give a lot of play and come in all shapes and colors.
But this was different because I had not seen anything like it. It is actually half door, the other half, given the low light was completely dark. I found in a farmhouse inhabited near Ogassa while I was walking looking for autumnal forest.
I suppose that must be the gates from one corral, but because of the total darkness of the interior, I did not dare to make more inquiries, lest came the farmer with a shotgun and with little desire to parley with a stranger who entered in his possessions .
Normally, they are very good people and eager to talk but now, no longer trust anyone. Me neither. Not going to be that they let go of the dogs.
He had always believed that photography was a safe and risk-free activity, but just in case, I left as fast as I could.
No more to say, a door is a door, just caught my attention textures and contrasts.

Update: I've gotten lots of inquiries about this picture so thought I would share the story with you. We found this little one last weekend down at the railroad tracks. She was stuck in between the rails and was so tiny that she couldn't get over the rail with the rest of her family, which we saw crossing the tracks way ahead of where we were walking. A short bit later I saw something hopping ahead on the tracks and thought it was a bird but it wasn't... it was this tiny baby duck. M rescued her and brought her over to the area where her family went down, just up from the wetlands. We both HOPE and pray she found her way back to her family. And yes, I wanted to take her home but... I wanted her to be with her family even more. Such a gift to have been in the right place at the right time.

Many buildings in Uxmal are decorated with stone masks of the Mayan gods. Uxmal was one of the greatest cities of the Mayan civilization, flourishing in IX - X centuries. It was completely and suddenly abandoned circa 1000 AD; the reason for this event is subject to scientific inquiry.

I never really put that much time into my photos.... but was taught a couple neat tricks by a friend and figured, needed a creative pursuit. Not very good and took me longer to do than I care to admit. But hey, gotta start somewhere?

A delicate yet powerful portrait of a Sri Lankan woman, immersed in a textured, abstract background. Her serene expression and the vibrant pink flower she holds symbolize resilience, grace, and the beauty of simplicity. The painting, created using mixed media techniques, combines raw, expressive lines with layered colors, evoking a sense of depth and emotion.

A visit to London will undoubtedly feed your mind and soul. It is impossible to leave London and not be inspired, tired, or challenged. London's effect on you are great. She seeps into every part of your being without you noticing.
A visit to London is like a love affair that never really ends. The city is always on your mind. You crave her and everything London offers long after you leave. You miss the sounds of London, the rumble of the London Underground, and navigating the crowded streets. Crossing over London Bridges remains in your memory. Iconic places such as St Paul's Cathedral or Trafalgar Square stay etched in your mind. Maybe the views from Waterloo Bridge or the wide spans view of London from Primrose Hill are still in your mind when you close your eyes.
You'll always remember London.
My affair with London began more than thirty years ago. The city has made a huge impact on me. I often like to say - "Everything I've Learned About Life I Learned From London."
My love of live theatre began in London when I saw "Daisy Pulls It Off" at the Globe Theatre, which is now the Gielguld Theatre. I saw magic when the curtain went up and I was captivated until the finals bows and the curtain came down. Even today I attend live theatre performances like most people see movies. Theatre taught me a bit about being dramatic and I use the lessons I learned in my photography. Funny that.

The other day, my friend was nice enough to make a life-long dream of mine come true - fly! I've wanted to get my private pilot's license since I was 2ft tall. :-)
What an incredible experience. I had THE biggest smile on my face the entire time. Ultimate kid-in-a-candy store experience. I couldn't stop smiling if my life depended on it. :D
Now for the sidenote... This is an iPhone pic! (Sidenote sidenote: captain put the wrong battery into the 5D, and my film camera decided it didn't love me either (film never caught onto the spool apparently...@*($^!#))
:P
And yes, Iliveinadream. Most strategic dissertation topic decision ever? Uhhu (:
