"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.”

In nature —

balance

is found.

If time could stand still and we could choose the time, it would be moments like these that I would freeze for eternity. A magical sky, the sun setting, forgetting the worries and cherishing the moments. As photographers, freezing time is one of the most magical and powerful tools we have. We can make these moments last a lifetime.

~The Summer Day~

Who made the world?

Who made the swan, and the black bear?

Who made the grasshopper?

This grasshopper, I mean-

the one who has flung herself out of the grass,

the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,

who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-

who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.

Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.

Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.

I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down

into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,

how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,

which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?

There are moments in life when an old self has to die. Not in the physical sense, but in the way an organism sheds a skin, discards what no longer serves, and allows something truer to emerge. It is a violent but necessary process — a collapse of what was bound by the chains of the world’s toxicity, the slow cancers of doubt, fear, and compromise.

In real time, it feels like disintegration. The structures you built around yourself crack, the illusions of safety peel away, and the scaffolding of who you thought you were crumbles into dust. But within that destruction is a release. The organism, stripped bare, is free to draw breath without the weight of corrosion.

And then comes the rebirth. Slowly, tenderly, a new form takes shape — one not dictated by the poison of the past but by the clarity of liberation. It is catharsis embodied: raw, unfiltered, and alive. What rises from the ashes is not a version of what was lost, but something entirely other — a creature that carries the scars of collapse as sacred markings of survival, and a heart that beats untethered to the world’s chains.

To witness this process — to live it — is to know that death is not always an end. Sometimes, it is the truest beginning.

“There is more to life than increasing its speed.” — a gentle reminder that peace is found in stillness, and the beauty of spring lies in letting moments unfold slowly

The dappled Kalalau valley, two miles wide, only reachable by a difficult 11 mile hike (if you want to enter the valley, rather than just viewing it from 4000 feet above). The western extremity of the Hawaiian Islands, here you can look into near infinity.

At one time, the valley had a population of about 200, but has been unpopulated for nearly a century.

We are not people experiencing spirituality, but souls experiencing humanity - Father Stuart Long

I board upon a mothership

And sail away into my heart

Upon my ground

Amongst the stars

I rise and rise

Through space and time

In darkest hours

It’s clear and sound

My earth revolves

Around the sun

For the life I am

For all that’s kind

Always with me

And by my side

On highest waves

Between the clouds

I rise and rise

Through space and time

In darkest hours

It’s clear and sound

My earth revolves

Around the sun

I lay my foot on the mother path

I rise and rise and rise

My aches and pain are nourishment to me

Rise Goddess Rise oh rise

My healing is accelerated

I rise and rise and rise

My blessings are growing multiply

Rise Goddess Rise oh rise

When my heart is missing homeland

I rise and rise and rise

From a false plain

I return home to me,

to I and I

From a false plain

I return home to me,

to I and I

In darkest hours

It’s clear and sound

My earth revolves

Around the sun

Mothership (Sefinat Em)

Written By Yael Deckelbaum

“I am writing these words, with sirens of war in my ears and bombs staggering my home. My heart is pounding, and I am afraid, so I open an Etty Hilesum card Here is what it says: “We have so much work to do on ourselves that we shouldn’t even be thinking of hating our so-called enemies. We are hurtful enough to one another as it is….Ultimately we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace, and to reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will also be in our troubled world. Here is a song from a women choir project, for inner peace, I have been secretly working on during the times of solitude. During the age of Corona I have been meeting with women from two communities of Klil and Beit Keshet in the north of israel. It is my dream that this circle will grow and join thousands of women to sing together for healing and peace. Together we will create the frequency that will carry us and our loved ones higher and higher, on the mothership, to these inner lands of peace that exist within our hearts.”

- Yael

Still away on my SongQuest but had to stop and share this subllme song by a radiant and wise Israeli songwriter and composer, activist and peacemaker. I feel such a wave, a call that so many women are feeling, to go deeper, let go and honor what is coming through. It is a great invitation to seek out our gifts and offer them forth. I painted this image a few weeks ago: Universal Mother holding the healing ointment.

Peace and love to all of you. Keep cherishing your dreams. 'Till soon.

Here is the link to hear the women's choir.

Also she has written the beautiful song "Prayer of the Mothers" which was featured in the video about the great "Women Wage Peace" movement joining thousands of Palestinian and Israeli women back in 2015. I cry every time I see it:

All the things that truly matter, beauty, love, creativity, joy and inner peace arise from beyond the mind (Eckhart Tolle)

~Art is my therapy.🎨Sometimes life hits you hard and you may need a little escape, for me it is delving into my art. It is therapeutic and calms my mind. Enticing my soul and motivating me to continue creating and honing my craft. Art is subjective, when it comes from the heart it is always beautiful and special, do not let anyone tell you different. Find yourself something that motivates you, empowers you and that you truly enjoy; striving for your inner peace.~
