Still no frost, so my herbs and flowers are still thriving! Yesterday, I posted the drawing before adding the color, if you'd care to compare. Marigolds, zinnia, sage, sweet basil, chives are backdropped by the yellowing grape vines that cover the fence. The pumpkin is from the farmers market. #inktober2020 October 15, 2020

EXPLORE 29-OCT-2020 #179
Ink, watercolors, and stitching. Tag on card. Last day of the Inkober Challenge...31days - I chose to draw a daily portrait of a child. #Inktober2020 day31
We don't really do much digging in our garden. Our soil is so shallow it's almost impossible to get a spade depth into it without hitting rocks. That suits me fine, because I never really enjoyed that part of gardening all that much. Much easier to have a raised bed filled with decent soil and compost.

Ink and ecoline ink on paper. Coral used to be used as the basis for jewelry but should no longer be harvested. Here vintage coral is combined with a 'Zeeuwse knop' (Zealand button), ebony wood and leather straps. After a design by Goudsmederij Ouro in Roosendaal.
I drew from a picture found on google... This girl looks min 10 years older than on the real picture... I'm ashamed....
Btw this is for Inktober day 27
It's amazing the amount of stuff you can cram into even a small car.

Inktober 2020 11
Poem by Tom Lee
Our indoor class is cancelled
So in the park we go
Time for lots of stretches
It does us good you know
We’ve brought our faithful canines
They’re really our best friends
They play quite well together
Left alone, to their own ends
The weather now is brighter
We hope that is a sign
As it’s much more fun to exercise
When the sun decides to shine
I find that now I’m older
I look more like my Mum
But you know I still have got it
He’s looking at my bum!

Poem by Tom Lee
At the start of Covid-19
I sent off for some seeds
The garden centre? It was shut
My garden? Just grew weeds
I’ve got a little greenhouse though
It needed cleaning out
Cracked pots, dried flowers, webs and such
Too dry for things to sprout
But now I’ve tidied up the shelves
The floor is swept as well
You’d never know the state ‘twas in
No way that you could tell
Now I give the seeds affection
Talk to, and water them
They seem to be responding
(The dog’s name? That is Ben)
So whilst you cannot visit me
On Facebook I will post
My aloe, cacti, sunflower seeds
Let’s see who’ll grow the most.

Getting a head start on Inktober since I won't have much free time the first two weeks of October.
I decided to try out the chinese ink sticks I've picked up here and there over the years. Henri Li's U-tube videos show you how to paint goldfish but I haven't done a great job on them here.
Mixed technique: toons cuttings & magazine clippings in many little pieces taken from different illustrations interconnected by water- color hues, glue, felt-tip pens, color markers on round hard cardboard (possibly a cake plate).
Notice also the creative mixing & perfect matching of colour shading.

No worry, she's not dead.
That's for Inktober2020 day 18 - still behind schedule, hopefully I'll have time to draw this weekend.
Yesterday, I posted this as a black and white drawing on wicker-colored paper. Color added today with wax pastel. This small industry is not far from my house. It backs up on woods near the railroad tracks, not too far from the river. #inktober2020 October 31, 2020. I've drawn for the #inktober2020 challenge for all 31 days. I've done this every October since 2016.
A balmy October day allowed me to set up my easel in my front yard to see this view of the garden along our house. The neighbor's new fence beyond their garage offered an interesting detail. #inktober2020 October 10, 2020
The annuals--marigolds and zinnias--are at their peak. Tonight a first freeze is forecast. Will any of them survive? If so I'll add color tomorrow outside. Otherwise, I'll use a photo reference. #inktober2020 October 18, 2020
