Something I need most mornings! (Not with the needle though)
Had to improvise the set up on this shot. I didn't have a syringe so used a darning needle of Lindsay's. Next problem: how to stick the needle in the bean (word of warning if you ever try this, don't push to hard or the bean will shatter and you will end up on the pointy end of a sharp needle and a hole in your thumb), next problem how to get the needle horizontal and take the shot. Solution: stick the other end in a handy onion and balance on a table top. The light bokeh behind the bean was achieved by the lighting: a well placed LED torch that illuminates both bean and shines on the curtain opposite, the real trick was keeping it all stable to get a steady shot!

The Geology : The Torres del Paine mountain range has a core of igneous rock (granite), which crystalized in a slow process from molten rock, or magma. Later, about 12.5 million years ago, the magma caused the formation of dark sedimentary rocks. Today geologists can distinguish injection pulses of magma, or the distinct moments of injection (granites called Almirante, Fortaleza amd Catedral). Each pulse produces layers of granite several meters of thickness, which can be distinguished by variations in grey and red coloring, especially when the sun reflects on the mountains in the morning and at dusk. In this photo to the upper right is Formaccion Cerro Toro with dark hard granite. In the center the grey Almirante Granite and to lower left darker Catedral granite. The Geology: is from the Conaf Sede Administrativa natural history museum near the park administrative center. Torres del Paine National Park. Beautiful Chilean Patagonia.
On Friday, I had not long got into work when Phill rang to say that Kaiser was very distressed and had huge amounts of drool coming out of his mouth. When I got home he had run outside onto the lean to roof and there was lots of drool still coming out of his mouth. It took an age to coax him down but eventually I managed. I rang the vet and got an emergency appointment, but not until 11.00am. The drooling had subsided a little but he was still very distressed. The vet check him out and said that although his teeth were in good shape, he flinched when she touched one of them. She said that he might have banged it against something (perhaps Pixie thumped him!) Or it could have been he ate something that was mildly corrosive. He was given a painkilling injection and some Loxicom which he absolutely loves. He seems totally recovered now and we are keeping an eye on him for any changes. The vet advised to take him back in a week or two if nothing changes and they will check him out again. It gave us such a fright. I have had Kaiser from 6 weeks old. He is now 13 and has never been ill. Oh his weight is back up to 7 kilos *sigh*
This must have been a shelf warmer, being licensed in 5-1985, since the Gamma was built until 1984. With its thin bumpers it must have looked somewhat outdated by then, but what a line. I really love it.
Couldn’t resist another HD shot.

Changde Rd., Shanghai
The banner reads: 'Remember to get vaccinated after you have had your nucleic acid test and you will be healthy and able to travel without hindrance. Seniors can get good gifts for their first injection, while supplies last. '
Such outright lies about Chinese-made vaccines have been everywhere as far back as last year and earlier this year. Between May 2021 and January 2022, the Shanghai authorities set up numerous vaccination tents or parked vaccination buses in the heart of the downtown area. The vaccines used in all these vaccination sites were developed by Chinese companies. The Chinese public was sceptical about their safety and efficacy. In order to encourage people to get vaccinated, the vaccination sites offered prizes or gifts for everyone who got vaccinated. Yet the Chinese vaccine has proven largely ineffective against Covid-19. So far, almost a year on, the outbreak in China is on the rise and getting worse. In fact, even those who received the vaccine were not granted the right to travel freely, and once they were judged to be the socalled 'closely contacted', jus like those who had not been vaccinated, they would still be locked up or even escorted to a concentration camp because the authorities knew that their vaccine was simply ineffective. Nevertheless, even the catastrophic two-month city-wide lockdown in Shanghai this spring and the current China-wide spread of the epidemic has not stopped them from continuing to brag about peddling those ineffective Chinese vaccines.

My wife has given her consent to my using this image of one of her Rheumatoid Arthritis treatments for this week's 'Handle With Care' theme.
Technical: this image started out as a focus stack of 15 images of the syringe on a mirror with a black background taken at f/10.0 (now that I know the sweet spot after last week's brilliant challenge!) and processed in Helicon Focus. The resulting image was then transferred to Photoshop for extensive dust-spot removal (on the mirror, not my sensor!). Back in Lightroom I applied sharpening to the whole image and a graduated filter to tone down the reflection. Finally, a radial 4-stop filter ensured the surrounding black areas were fully black!
