One of my attempts at the "Crazy Tuesday" theme "Measuring and/or Measuring Instruments".
Shot with a Kodak "Printing Ektar 72 mm F 4.5" (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
Something I need most mornings! (Not with the needle though)
Had to improvise the set up on this shot. I didn't have a syringe so used a darning needle of Lindsay's. Next problem: how to stick the needle in the bean (word of warning if you ever try this, don't push to hard or the bean will shatter and you will end up on the pointy end of a sharp needle and a hole in your thumb), next problem how to get the needle horizontal and take the shot. Solution: stick the other end in a handy onion and balance on a table top. The light bokeh behind the bean was achieved by the lighting: a well placed LED torch that illuminates both bean and shines on the curtain opposite, the real trick was keeping it all stable to get a steady shot!

These are the needles for the cat's insulin injections, clearly a smaller batch infiltrated the usual size at one point. The cat did not care at all.

Exposed film pack out in the sun then squeezed out all of the chemicals before working with ink.
This is one of the disposable needles for the cat's insulin injections. It comes with an inner protective cap (as shown) but has a further outer cap which is sealed to make it sterile.
One of the first lessons I learnt is to never try and place the cap back on after use - you will stab yourself. I have also managed to inject my own thumb on a number of occasions when the needle has gone through the cat and then into me. Lived to tell the tale.
I collect all used needles in a sharps container. The cat is pretty indifferent as long as she gets some biscuits after her injection.
