The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo!
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Taken nearly 1 year ago at Wyming Brook back when winters had some snow in them.
I've tried to capture this particular point along the brook on several occasions, there is something inherently winter feeling about this particular location but I haven't been able to get quite the composition I felt would work best. Part of the problem is getting up close enough at the right angle.
This is my best attempt so far worth sharing.
Find the original size in my SnowScapes gallery
An Imperial Magikstrate squad of standard infantry (1 officer and 5 soldiers). They wear a special hard suit that allows them to operate in almost any environment while providing additional armor. Although not inherently magikal, their Cuprite-7 Shatter-Guns hold a magical element that can provide various bonuses.
This was such a fun water droplet refraction image to make, partly because it was done with the GH5 and partly because it was done in Bulgaria near the Black Sea. Two dandelion seeds dancing in the light of a poppy – read on!
While walking through a row of flower shops in Varna, Bulgaria, I spotted one solitary poppy among an array of daisies and roses. It was a huge flower, and I knew it would work well for a refraction photograph. Typically I choose daisy-like flowers with flat symmetrical petals, but poppies are close enough in design to make the same magic. Along the streets of Varna you’d had a hard time missing the dandelions, so it was easy to pick up a seed head and bring it back to our apartment to set up the shot.
Aside: for those of you that don’t know, my wife is originally from Bulgaria and we visit every year or two. It’s an incredibly beautiful country with multiple mountain ranges and a coastline, located in Eastern Europe north of Greece and Turkey. If you’re looking for an interesting travel destination, this is it!
The staging of the shot is fairly simple, but all of the puzzle pieces need to fall in just the right place. I used my Canon MR-14EX II ringlite in manual mode attached to a Panasonic GH5, though the ring was not fixed to the lens. The only way you can successfully use a ring flash for droplet refractions is to push the ring forward enough that it doesn’t cast any light on the droplets – effectively, the seeds are placed inside the center of the ring. If the flash was properly mounted to the lens, the light from the flash would hit the droplets first and flower second, resulting in nasty catch-lights in the droplets and an underwhelming refraction effect.
I’m loving the GH5 and the whole “premium micro four thirds” camera idea. In the case of macro photography, the 2X crop factor really works to your benefit to increase the magnification you’re able to achieve without any extras. No extension tubes required, just a macro lens to get this close – and I could have gotten closer! The Leica 45mm Macro from Panasonic is a gem… I’m going to be sad to give this back at the end of the month. Rapid-fire shooting is essential to get focus through the proper “slice” of the subject, as I physically move the camera forward and back to shift focus on this scale. The resulting images could have easily been focus stacked, but I felt that a single frame captured enough of the magic.
Shooting at F/8 gave me enough foreground focus to work with, while still presenting the background (the center of the poppy) out of focus. The balance here is always a bit tricky to establish, as the size of the flower (and inherently how far away from the focal plane it is) changes every time. There was about 10 minutes of tinkering in total done with camera settings, subject and light placement, and subject positioning.
The hardest part about this image was getting one dandelion seed to stay intertwined with the other. It’s easy when they’re dry, but as the droplets accumulate the seed gets heavier and falls off. Only one of the seeds is clamped in place! The setup needed to be re-staged four times before a supportive entanglement was found.
If you’d like to try and make an image like this, I teach photography workshops on exactly this subject here in my studio! The next workshop date is June 10th: www.donkom.ca/product/macro-photography-workshops/

ATI Cosmonaut Mark V ‘HERA’ (High Energy Rail Accelerator)
The HERA is a compact high-grade energy weapon designed by Agroprom Technology Institute (ATI).
The first concepts for the weapon were fashioned in the late 2020s, for use by special insertion squads during the rise of energy weaponry. However, the concepts did not pass prototype stage after numerous cases of weapons melting or burning during use, and were soon buried. The prototypes and concepts were uncovered in the late 2050s as soon as demands for a space-based weapon rose, and the materials required for withstanding such high levels of heat became available for mass production. A new prototype was fashioned using the same initial designs, while adding design changes allowing for use by a human in a spacesuit. The internals were also modified to incorporate advances in material technologies. The weapon is manufactured and sold in small quantities due to its limited use in exoatmospheric conditions and high relative cost of the materials and techniques used in its manufacture.
The HERA platform is a linear accelerator which utilizes two electromagnetically charged rails (silver-lined molybdenum-steel alloy) to propel a ‘pulse’ of superheated ionized plasma towards the target by forming a powerful magnetic field along the length of the weapon’s acceleration chamber, expelling the projectile at high velocity. The design produces high velocity coherent projectiles capable of burning through spacesuits and disintegrating soft targets such as human flesh, while dissipating upon contact with solid assets such as spacecraft hulls, leaving them largely undamaged. The system has been noted to pose a slight risk of fire when used around ships with a high-oxygen internal environment.
The weapon is constructed of a lightweight heat-dissipating titanium alloy frame combined with a carbon-fiber reinforced thermoplastic shell. The frame is designed to effectively disperse the large amount of waste heat generated with each discharge. This passive design aspect is augmented by a liquid nitrogen based coolant system which runs parallel to the surface of the propulsion rails and laser-drive chamber, preventing overheating during sustained fire. Even with these design features, the weapon is still prone to overheating (automatically shutting down the weapon for five seconds, after approximately 30 discharge cycles at 900 RPM) through prolonged firing.
While there is very little recoil from the accelerator compared to contemporary solid projectile platforms there remains a low level of effective recoil force produced, which can cause an operator to lose control of their rotational velocity while firing the weapon. A series of synthetic viscoelastic urethane polymer shock dampening buffers are placed within the internal skeleton of the stock portion, used to absorb the remaining recoil impulse. Operators using the weapon are often required to rely entirely on visual feedback to know that their weapon has fired due to the near-complete dissipation of recoil energy. Some users note minor heat buildup in the weapon’s grip during extended operation, however when operating the system from within a spacesuit there is no tangible discomfort.
As a plasma accelerator, the HERA platform is inherently suited for operation in a vacuum, but has also shown extensive capacity for atmospheric use, though the weapon’s effective range in atmospheric conditions is significantly reduced due to air resistance and other factors.
While there are many better alternatives for the weapon on ground, it has a number of advantages in space combat.
Unlike a traditional weapon, which requires heavy, high-volume ammunition, the HERA utilizes compact plasma canisters - as the ammunition is fluid, it does not waste any space and takes the shape of it’s container.
Secondly, the HERA can fire continuously at 900 RPM until the magazine is exhausted with only 5 second intervals every 30 rounds for cooling.
Third, and most importantly, the projectile is extraordinarily fast, clocking in at 5100 meters per second muzzle velocity - around 5 times faster than a traditional automatic rifle. This feature is useful in outer space due to the vaster distances without cover.
Fourth, it cannot puncture holes through thick material such as walls, but easily burns through suits or clothing, making it safe for use aboard a space station. The use of traditional projectile weapons aboard spacecraft is highly dangerous, as stray projectiles could cause severe damage or decompression by penetrating exterior hull sections, endangering all individuals present.
Components:
Bobson Synthetics Group DPF Capsule
The condensed ionized plasma fired by the weapon is stored in capsules mounted to the sides of the platform’s body, providing high storage capacity. Each DPF capsule is a dual-purpose binary magazine containing a plasma fluid matrix and a nitrogen cooling chamber. When reloading the weapon an operator can remove only those capsules which have been fully depleted, increasing adaptability in combat situations.
Polyrhythm Corporation Laser-Drive Chamber
Located beneath the primary firing chamber of the weapon, the Polyrhythm L-DC is a small, highly heat resistant chamber connected to the weapon’s plasma delivery conduit directly prior to the primary firing chamber. The L-DC uses a high-energy laser diode to heat the channeled plasmoid to an incredibly high temperature, expanding it and forcing it into the primary firing chamber, where the plasmoid is accelerated.
A Polyrhythm Arcjet was placed into the earlier models of the weapon, rather than a laser diode. These are much bulkier as they also carry a large canister of hydrazine, but are known for possessing a longer lifespan due to the sturdier construction of the chamber.
Steinbek Compulsator
The Steinbek ‘Compensated Pulsed Alternator’ is a small device used for storing power for use by the railgun. It is basically a series of flywheel devices sealed in a tube constructed of a shock absorbing carbon-steel composite. The flywheel devices consist of a carbon-fiber composite rotor surrounded by magnetic bearings and a counterweight stabilizer. The Compulsator is designed to fire it’s energy in pulses rather than steadily, perfect for an energy intensive device such as a railgun.
Unlike a battery, the Compulsator can last ages longer than a battery, operates with equal efficiency in any environment and temperature, and suffers no chemical failure. The device can be fully recharged within minutes.
The earliest models of the weapon utilized a Steinbek RTG (Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator) in place of a compulsator. These models are much more dangerous as what they use are essentially atomic batteries, utilizing Plutonium-238 - while shielding requirements are low or nonexistent, the systems can be unpredictable with the massively fluctuating energy levels of a railgun. However, with sufficient protection, these weapons are much more reliable and can take much more of a beating - but be careful. When you see the blinking red light on your HUD, throw your gun as far away from you as you can and float for your life - an RTG doesn’t fail often, but when one does, it fails with a moderately sized explosion.
Sony HRA445B Lithium-Polymer Batteries
Two mass manufactured Sony Lithium-Polymer batteries located in the stock power passive electronic systems such as sights, HUD, stabilization computer and temperature regulation and detection computer. These are recharged within seconds of being plugged into a station, but cannot power the railgun.
The optic is a sturdy Agroprom camera-sight.

Wisps of fog can be seen over the railroad yard and harbor on the dreary afternoon of Thursday, May 26, 1988 as three TerraTransport NF210 narrow gauge diesel engines switch the yard at Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
The 936, 938, and 945's combined 3,600 horsepower jockey a combination of containers on flat cars and pulpwood cars on the railroad's three foot six inch (1,067 mm) gauge track.
The pulpwood cars are likely destined to the giant Bowater paper mill nearby in Corner Brook. Easily the town's biggest industry, the mill was undoubtedly also part of the reason this archaic railway lasted as long as it did.
Containerization on this island operation was seen as a way of eliminating some of the inefficiencies inherent to traffic traveling between Newfoundland and the mainland. Prior to the appearance of the containers, a railcar originating on the island would have its lading transferred from narrow gauge box cars onto the ferry at Port-aux-Basques; upon arrival on the mainland after the seven-hour passage across the Cabot Strait to North Sydney, the lading would again have to be transferred – this time onto a standard gauge boxcar – before it could continue by rail to its destination.
The containers eliminated much of this manpower-intensive and hence costly operation. Subsequently, at Port-aux-Basques, each container would be transferred in one operation from a narrow gauge flatcar onto a standard gauge flatcar, and then shoved onto the ferry (which had standard gauge rails) by a standard gauge locomotive at Port-aux-Basques.
The adoption of containers streamlined the movement of freight to and from the mainland. Though TerraTransport's move to containers reduced the cost of the operation, any rail operation on an island is inherently inefficient because any transfer, even a simplified one at port, is less efficient than a line haul from origin to destination. Furthermore, the inherent inefficiency of narrow gauge was evident to this observer: containers on the island were stacked one to a narrow gauge flatcar, while on the mainland the same containers would be packed two-high ("double stacked") on a standard gauge flatcar.
Once highways were improved and extended to all population centers on the island of Newfoundland, the rail operations had little advantage over road transport. Ultimately, time ran out for the railway on Newfoundland. The entire TerraTransport rail operation ended operation in fall 1988, only four months after these pictures were taken. In subsequent years, the rail was torn out. The three NF210 diesels in this picture were sold to a buyer in Chile.
Purple Potatoes
Most of us are used to seeing and eating the typical white or yellow fleshed potatoes.
You may even eat sweet potatoes on a regular basis and so you might be accustomed to orange as well.
Native to South America, purple potatoes got their name due to their deep purple skin and flesh.
There are several types of the purple potato including the Purple Majesty, Purple Viking and Purple Peruvian varieties.
It has a slightly nutty flavor and a creamier texture when compared to traditional potatoes. This makes it ideal for baking, mashing, pan frying and doing pretty much anything else that you might do with a standard potato. It can be delicious when blended with various herbs and garlic and makes a great mashed potato dish since it has a creamier texture when cooked.
Purple potatoes are inherently dry, starchy, earthy and slightly nutty in flavor.
Researchers shed light on the ability of purple potatoes to help lower High Blood Pressure.
Scientists have found that just a couple servings of potatoes a day reduces blood pressure almost as much as oatmeal without causing weight gain.

Here's one I've been working on for a while. It's meant to be modeled after the newest movie enterprises. It's not perfect but it inherently has some major design challenges, mainly the weight of the saucer-section and the nacelles. And yes, I know I have a transparent string supporting the nacelles horizontally, but I tried many, many different solutions and this was the best in my opinion.

0 Things About the Builder of German Stuff:
1 ) I'm a Weaboo, but not in the commonly defined sense of the term. I actually dispel the myths.
2 ) I not conservative. That's all I'll leave except for a long rant.
3 ) I really don't give a shit about the Second Amendment. As my shirt says, if guns can't stop themselves from being taken away by the government, whats the fucking point
4 ) I am not moving anywhere next weekend because as a true patriot, I owe allegiance to the village that raised me. Do not expect to get a wave of photos of LEGO stuff.
5 ) I only have 0 German vehicles.
6 ) I don't work at a Walmart. (While some people brag, I feel a committed conservative should do better in a capitalist system)
7 ) I don't give a shit about california tbh.
8 ) I see the world in a realistic light. Idealism is great until it conflicts with my own personal goals in life .I am inherently selfish
9 ) I voted for Trump. I support Trump of most issues. I also wish to distance myself from Trump in a half hearted attempt to show I have free will
10 ) If you're offended, I can refer you to the Butthurt Complaint Center at 1 (800) CRY MORE.
And as a bonus:
11) The EU is a concept which I feel qualified to talk about despite not actually having bothered to research the subject.
12 ) I have never read George Orwell's "1984" and do not understand that George Orwell was a socialist who wrote a socialist book
13 ) I'm too lazy to get a haircut...

At the head of any army, will be reconnaissance teams, who's job it is to report back enemy activity, the best routes to take, as well as fortifications that will either need to be taken, or bypassed, as well as a myriad of other tasks. But steaming ahead of an army is an inherently dangerous job, because round the next corner, you could run into just about anything and everything. The current line up of reconnaissance vehicles in the Tarakian army consist of lightly armoured jeeps and trucks, and although these suffice for peace time reconnaissance, they don't cut the mustard in war time, so a tougher, more resilient and adaptable vehicle was needed, much to the delight of the reconnaissance personnel, who had been asking for such a vehicle for some time.
It was decided that a tracked vehicle wouldn't have the mobility to fill this role, so a brand new 8x8 wheeled chassis was made, specially for this unit, fittingly called the Pathfinder. The chassis is all wheel drive, and all wheel steer, giving it fantastic performance over all terrains. Fitted with a 365hp engine which is located in the rear, and a massive fuel tank in the front for extended periods of deployment, the Pathfinder is designed to go just about anywhere. The crew are kept in a separate compartment in the middle, which is protected by thicker armour than the rest of the vehicle, which is designed to keep the crew alive, even after sustaining a direct hit from heavy weapons, such as tanks and anti-tank weapons. However, this is still only a light unit, so there is a limit to how much it can protect it's crew from such weapons. The crew consists of a commander, a gunner, and driver.
Due to multiple cameras located on the exterior of the vehicle at both ends, combined with the all wheel steering, this vehicle can be driven as easily backwards as forwards, all the driver needs to do, is push a button, and the controls are switched so that driving backwards reacts the same way as driving forward.
The role of a reconnaissannce vehicle is not to engage enemy vehicles, rather to protect the crew while out on their duties, but that being said, it does help if you can defend yourself if engaged. Fitted with a 20mm cannon that can fire both high explosive, and armour piercing rounds, the Pathfinder can annihilate enemy infantry with ease, and can even engage lightly armoured enemy vehicles.
A reconnaissance force will usually consist of eight Pathfinders, made up of four 20mm versions, a command unit, an anti-aircraft unit, an anti-tank unit, and a rapid fire light mortar unit. Together these units form a group capable of taking on any threat, but are not actually meant to be used as offensive weapons, rather more defensive weapons so that the group can retreat and return to the main force.

A firefighter is trained and equipped to put out fires, rescue people, aid and assist during natural disasters and, increasingly, provide emergency medical services. The fire service, also known in some countries as the fire brigade or fire department, is one of the emergency services. The three main goals in firefighting are (in order) life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation. Firefighting is an inherently dangerous occupation. (wikipedia)

Hello.
I have had cravings of roleplay lately, and i have had a creative moment with some friends, so together we plan on doing this little crazy project of mine, that will focus on the perspective of "all human is inherently evil" to explore the good in humanity as well.
Please bear with me as I explore this weird dream i have, will be bloody, violent and cruel, but i promise you a happy ending as well.
The pictures will be taken with black dragon viewer, this was barely edited with Gimp to correct some color and give a comic effect.
As well, if you see an item that you would like to know where is from, I will provide the information gladly.
With this, I welcome you to this weird story of mine, what it means to "Being human".
One of the keys to shooting Epic Landscape Photography is exalting the photograph's soul via golden ratio compositions, thusly wedding the photographic art to the divine proportion by which life itself was designed and exalted.

Ansel Adams is not only my favorite photographer, but he is one of the greatest photographers and artists of all time. And just like great artists including Michelangelo, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Botticelli, and Picasso, Ansel used the golden ratio and divine proportions in his epic art.
Not so long ago I discovered golden regions in many of his famous public domain his 8x10 aspect ratio photographs. I call these golden harmony regions "regions of golden action" or "ROGA"S, as seen here:

Here’s a fun exploration of light: the four ways I know how to photograph a flower, and they all yield incredibly different results. I hope you’re eager to learn what you’re looking at – read on!
We’re looking at four ways to image a flower: Ultraviolet Fluorescence (big image), Infrared, Visible Light, and Ultraviolet Reflectance.
I was shocked at how vibrantly fluorescing the pollen in the center of this flower was, more illuminating than any other flower I have previously explored with this technique. Ultraviolet fluorescence takes a purely UV-only light source and a regular everyday unmodified camera. If nothing in the scene fluoresces the UV light into the visible spectrum, then the camera has no light to capture. The only way an image can be recorded is if some part of the subject or scene fluoresces, and we can capture the image. It’s interesting that the stem and leaves are seriously blue while the petals have a slight return to their normal yellow, and a faint purple ring around the center. I consider this the most magical version of the four.
Ultraviolet Reflectance (bottom right) is a similar technique, but here we are shooting with UV light and collecting UV-only through a camera modified for this purpose. The camera is a 1DX that I have converted to full-spectrum photography, and the spectrum is narrowed down to UV exclusively through a series of two filters: the XNite 330C and the XNite BP1. Used together, the combo removes ALL other spectrums of light so that the image is recorded with just the ultraviolet that bounces off the flower and STAYS in the UV spectrum. This reveals a hidden pattern in the center of the flower that was only hinted at in the UVIVF (fluorescing) shot above. A large dark ring surrounds the center of the flower that is completely invisible to us, but can be seen by many pollinating insects. Since certain insects can see into the ultraviolet spectrum, this pattern can act as a bulls-eye and guide them towards the center of the flower.
Note: Any colour that you see in a UV reflectance image is “false”, in much the same way infrared images can be processed to contain colour that our eyes can recognize. While the camera can record differences in the wavelength of light beyond what our eyes can see, this needs to be “re-mapped” back into the visible spectrum for us to recognize these shifts as colours. This inherently creates colours that are imaginary in terms of their absolute value and the photographer as an artist can choose what colours these wavelengths represent.
To our own eyes, the visible spectrum yields a beautiful yellow sunflower, but nothing more impressive than that (bottom center). The pollen takes on the same colour and brightness as the petals with the stem and leaves displayed in a standard yellow-green. This is a Sunfinity™ Sunflower, Helianthus interspecific, from Syngenta. I suppose “interspecific” means a modified hybrid of sorts, and is being sold in relatively high volume at most grocery stores I’ve visited in my area. For $14.99 it’s a great endlessly blooming potted plant. Their website says they’ve been working on this plant for a decade, and I’m very curious what goes into such research. In the end, we get a beautiful garden flower, even to our own eyes as we normally see.
Infrared photography of plants usually doesn’t give us any surprises. Almost anything that produces photosynthesis will reflect infrared light in abundance, as we see in the bottom left image. At 850nm the camera sensor no longer records any separation of colour so we are given a black & white image, though I left a slight blue cast on this version as the default camera white balance presented it this way. This version of the sunflower has a brighter center than any other form, and a ghostly pale complexion compared to the details we see in other spectrums. Since healthy plants reflect more infrared (technically “near infrared”) light that sick or dead plants, scientists can study forests and environments from aerial or satellite imagery in these wavelengths.
There are many ways to see the same subject. A simple sunflower can reveal incredible hidden beauty that we would never be able to see with our own eyes. In the case of the infrared and the ultraviolet fluorescence, it’s unlikely that this could ever be seen in the natural world by any creature… yet it’s still a different way to see things. Photo series like this make me feel very humble and realize that the way we see the world is so very narrow and our everyday surroundings are more magical than we give proper credit for.
It's bizarre to conceive the idea that in a media-saturated world the accidents of nature can be far more compelling than a plethora of digital tropes that relay our perceptions and idiosyncrasies back to us, fuelled by the potency of fiscal gain.
The gradual movement towards a ubiquitous new media and the consequent alteration of our perceptions via a matrix of representations would, surely render the natural world redundant, unable to stimulate our senses when digital environments are so addictive and enforced.
But, when the sunlight dances across Loch Ainort like a crazed spotlight as high winds blow clouds across the sky, that alters the shafts of light, you are reminded that new media removes us from our natural environment and its curiosities and aesthetics.
Anonymity is removed and an intrinsic attachment to the actual world is sensed that encourages our natural, mental state of contemplation, curiosity, emotional engagement and spiritual renewal. Time is not perceived to be our creation, it's a natural occurrence that we inherently comprehend.
Solipsism is shelved for a more rational, emotionally liberating and mature approach. Wisdom is not encouraged by dependency on machines, it is about using resources in moderated ways; a pragmatic comprehension of the advantages and limitations of our creativity.

The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.

Stop saying that the actor Michael Dorsey should embrace his transgendered self. He's not transgendered! You might just as well say the actor Jamie Farr should embrace his transgendered self.
A review:
When David Yazbek and Robert Horn’s new musical Tootsie opened on Broadway a few weeks ago to mostly rave reviews (all written by cisgender critics), New York magazine’s Sara Holdren was one of the only critics to call out the dated gender politics of the show, based on the 1982 film. I was shocked, however, that none of the critics noticed the larger problem: the show’s entire premise is transphobic. Although there are no trans characters in the musical, trans people are the butt of every joke, a silent specter of mockery, as the whole musical revolves around a never-ending “man in a dress” gag, a trope that’s rooted in transmisogyny (hatred of trans women).
How can a show without any trans characters be transphobic? As trans theatremaker Brin Solomon writes, “Just as a celebration of German culture can still be anti-Semitic even if it never mentions Jews, and a boss who calls his secretary ‘sweetie’ can still be sexist even if he never explicitly tells women to die, the core conceit of Tootsie’s plot strengthens tropes that harm trans women in pervasive, implicit ways.” While the new musical has some merits, which I discuss in my review here (and which certainly account for its 11 Tony nominations), that is not what I want to focus on here; it is time for us to stop praising Tootsie and start recognizing its problems. Although Tootsie is unwilling to have meaningful discussions about drag and gender, that doesn’t mean we can’t.
Drag is not inherently transphobic, but the drag in Tootsie absolutely is. The point of drag is to queer gender and prove how socially constructed it is, to show that gender is a performance. Tootsie (mis)appropriates drag in ways that enforce ideas about binary gender by making jokes out of the dichotomy between Michael, the straight cisgender protagonist, and his drag persona, Dorothy. This frequently takes the the form of crude and transphobic bodily humor about genitals or gags about bras, wigs, and heels and how ridiculous it is that Michael would wear them. The musical treats the entire concept of drag and of gender as nothing but a joke.
Tootsie is by no means the first musical to play with the possibilities of drag. Kinky Boots, La Cage aux Folles, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Rent, and this season’s under-appreciated Head Over Heels all use drag, in both serious and comedic ways, to explore queer identity, marginalization, and the power of performance. Unlike the lead in Tootsie, the characters who do drag in those shows don’t constantly make jokes about their genitals, lie about their gender, or use drag to “get ahead,” steal a job from a woman, and manipulate those around them.
Instead all of those musicals have drag performers fighting to perform, to be listened to, and to be taken seriously on their own terms. Lola, Zaza, the queens of Priscilla, Cleophila, and Angel are marginalized because of their queer identities and their choice to do drag, all of which reflects reality. In Tootsie, on the other hand, when Michael choses to do drag to get a role, he gets hired, is universally beloved, and is given total artistic control over the show. The notion that Michael would get cast more easily and have more creative power as a woman than as a man isn’t just implausible; it’s also damaging, a further erasure of actual cis and trans women’s experience. What’s more, since Michael is not openly a drag queen but is fully pretending to be a woman and “getting away with it,” the show subtly reinforces the transphobic claim that trans people are liars, pretenders, or fakers.

The McDonnell F-4 Phantom II was the West’s premier Cold War fighter during the 1960s and most of the 1970s. This big Mach 2 fighter was flown by all three U.S. services, providing all-weather interception, air superiority, bomber escort, tactical bombing, deep interdiction, reconnaissance, and SAM suppression services. Vietnam was its first war; its final combat deployment came enforcing the Iraq no-fly zone in 1996. During its long production life, 5,195 were built—the most of any U.S. supersonic fighter. The F-4 was used by many other Western countries in combat, especially by the Israelis. The Phantom II was enormously fast, able to exceed Mach 2 in level flight. It also had a spectacular rate of climb. In its first two years, it set many speed, altitude, and climb records. One record was a flight from Los Angeles to New York in only two hours and forty-nine minutes. In Vietnam, the F-4 was used most heavily as a tactical bomber. It could carry an amazing 16,000 pounds of bombs. Unfortunately, bombing usually meant flying through small arms fire, flak, SAMs, and other ground fire. Of the 585 Phantom IIs lost in the war, most were lost to ground fire.
As an escort and air superiority fighter, the F-4 was only moderately successful in Vietnam. It’s main opponent there was the MiG-21. The Phantom II was twice as big as the MiG-21 and had two and a half times the power , but the small MiG-21 was almost as fast and considerably more nimble. F-4 crews claimed 164.5 MiG kills in Vietnam, and its final tally over its life was 280 air kills. However, its kill-to-loss ratio in Vietnam was far from spectacular—only about 2:1. Late in the war, the Navy created its Top Gun program to improve air combat training. Randy Cunningham, one of America’s only two front-seat F-4 aces, was a graduate of Top Gun. Later models also got an internal gun and better missiles, making them inherently better dogfighters.
This Phantom II is an F-4C, which was the first version of the Phantom II flown by the Air Force. It was built in August 1965 with serial number 64-792. A year later, it moved to Cam Ranh Bay with the 12th Tactical Fighter Wing’s 559th Tactical Fighter Squadron (the Billy Goats). The 792’s aircraft commander late in the war, Captain Frederick W. Siebert, named her Smoothie. Although hit by ground fire four times, Smoothie survived the war. Unfortunately, four months before the wing was deactivated, Capt. Siebert died while flying another of the squadron’s F-4Cs in a close support mission, Captain Siebert ran into heavy ground fire, and his aircraft exploded in a fireball.
On this day that honors Veterans, it only seems fitting to showcase 'Smoothie' and tell the story of her Captain who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you Captain Siebert and all your fellow Veterans who defend our country and protect our freedom!

The Fibonacci Numbers are closely related to the golden ratio, and thus they also play a prominent role in exalted natural and artistic compositions!
I'm working on a far deeper book titled The Golden Ratio Number for Photographers. :)
The famous mathematician Jacob Bernoulli wrote:
The (golden spiral) may be used as a symbol, either of fortitude and constancy in adversity, or of the human body, which after all its changes, even after death, will be restored to its exact and perfect self.
Engraved upon Jacob’s tombstone is a spiral alongside the words, "Eadem Mutata Resurgo," meaning "Though changed, I shall rise again." And so it is that within the Golden Ratio Principle, the golden harmonies rise yet again.
The golden ratio is oft known as the divine cut, the golden cut, the divine proportion, the golden number, and PHI for the name of the architect of the Parthenon Phidias. It has exalted classical art on down through the millennia and it can exalt your art too!
Ask me anything about the golden ratio! :) I will do my best to answer!!
Enjoy my Fine Art Ballet instagram too!

Here's the "Alternate Shot" of my Professor Zoom minifig. I tried something a little different with this piece, by taking two similar (but inherently differently lit images) to then overlay in photoshop to give off the affect of a longer shutter speed. To give it a feel of movement without losing the sharpness that I wanted with Thawne's eye's and emblem.
I personally, really enjoy how this one turned out.

I am delighted to announce that my third-of-an-acre property has just been approved by Atlanta Audubon Society as a Certified Wildlife Sanctuary.
When I bought my house in 1995, there were some perimeter plantings around the structure—azaleas, a cotoneaster, a weigela and a holly. There were also oaks, maples, a sweetgum, a black cherry and other trees on the property, and now there are several Canadian hemlocks and Japanese maples. Inherently rather lazy, I wanted to create a mostly perennial garden that would attract birds and wildlife while requiring little more than water and occasional fertilizing to be healthy, and so the journey began. And little by little, one by one, I added plants that would flower from early spring to early winter, just as those in my mom's garden in Connecticut used to.
The first plant I got was an oak-leaf hydrangea from the Chattahoochee Nature Center, which is still flourishing in my back yard. Over the years, I maintained an emphasis on perennials, and in more recent years, on native plants, and it was the latter that helped get me approved today by AAS. I will continue to add more native plants in the coming years. My garden also has a small patio fountain and bird baths, various feeders with different kinds of seeds and suets, and plants, shrubs and trees that provide food and shelter.
Before the team arrived for the inspection, I saw (but still have not photographed) my first Red-breasted nuthatch in years, as a result of the current irruption. And while we all were standing in my side garden, one of them landed at one of the feeders, almost within arms' reach. That was a very nice moment.
Photo by the kind neighbor who affixed the sign to a piece of wood and hammered it into place at my side garden.

The role of a reconnaissannce vehicle is not to engage enemy vehicles, but to protect the crew while out on their duties, but that being said, it does help if you can defend yourself.
The chemtrail conspiracy theory is based on the erroneous belief that long-lasting condensation trails (contrails), called "chemtrails" by proponents, consist of chemical or biological agents left in the sky by high-flying aircraft and deliberately sprayed for purposes undisclosed to the general public. —Wikipedia
“The less control people have over their lives, the more likely they are to try and regain control through mental gymnastics," explains American social psychologist Adam Galinsky. "Feelings of control are so important to people that a lack of control is inherently threatening. While some misperceptions can be bad or lead one astray, they're extremely common and most likely satisfy a deep and enduring psychological need."—BigThink

And too, I created some videos highlighting Ansel's use of the golden harmonies. Enjoy!

Seen on a glorious day at the Shuttleworth Collection's 2015 Wings and Wheels show is an original World War I-vintage Royal Aircraft Factory SE.5A.
This aircraft was originally serial F904 of No. 84 Squadron RAF, then flew as G-EBIA from September 1923 to February 1932. It was restored and passed to the Shuttleworth Collection. Re-registered as G-EBIA, it was first painted as D7000, and now flies again as F904.
The SE.5 was a British biplane fighter aircraft, the first examples of which reached the Western Front before the Sopwith Camel. Although it had a much better overall performance than the Camel, problems with its Hispano-Suiza engine, particularly the geared-output H-S 8B-powered early versions, meant that there was a chronic shortage of SE.5s until well into 1918 and fewer squadrons were equipped with the SE.5 than with the Sopwith fighter. Together with the Camel, the SE.5 was instrumental in regaining Allied air superiority in mid-1917 and maintaining it for the rest of the war, ensuring there was no repetition of "Bloody April" 1917 when losses in the Royal Flying Corps were much heavier than in the Luftstreitkräfte.
The SE.5 (Scout Experimental 5) was designed by Henry Folland, John Kenworthy and Major Frank Goodden of the Royal Aircraft Factory in Farnborough. It was built around the new 150 hp Hispano-Suiza 8, a V8 engine that, while providing excellent performance, was initially under-developed and unreliable. The first of three prototypes flew on 22 November 1916. The first two prototypes were lost in crashes (the first killing Major Gooden, the chief test pilot at the Royal Aircraft Factory, on 28 January 1917) due to a weakness in their wing design. The third prototype underwent modification before production commenced; the SE.5 was known in service as an exceptionally strong aircraft which could be dived at very high speed – the squarer wings also gave much improved lateral control at low airspeeds.
Like the other significant Royal Aircraft Factory aircraft of the war (BE.2, FE.2 and RE.8) the SE.5 was inherently stable, making it an excellent gunnery platform, but it was also quite manoeuvrable. It was one of the fastest aircraft of the war at 138 mph, equal at least in speed to the SPAD S.XIII and faster than any standard German type of the period.
While the SE.5 was not as agile and effective in a tight dogfight as the Camel it was much easier and safer to fly, particularly for novice pilots. The SE.5 had one synchronised .303-inch Vickers machine gun to the Camel's two, but it also had a wing-mounted Lewis gun on a Foster mounting, which enabled the pilot to fire at an enemy aircraft from below as well as providing two guns firing forward. This was much appreciated by the pilots of the first SE.5 squadrons as the new hydraulic-link "C.C." synchronising gear for the Vickers was unreliable at first. The Vickers gun was mounted on the forward left dorsal surface of the fuselage with the breech inside the cockpit, at a slight upwards angle. The cockpit was set amidships, making it difficult to see over the long front fuselage, but otherwise visibility was good. Perhaps its greatest advantage over the Camel was its superior performance at altitude, making it a much better match for the Fokker D.VII when that fighter arrived at the front.
Only 77 original SE.5 aircraft were built before production settled on the improved SE.5a. In total 5,265 SE.5s were built by six manufacturers: Austin Motors (1,650), Air Navigation and Engineering Company (560), Curtiss (1), Martinsyde (258), the Royal Aircraft Factory (200), Vickers (2,164) and Wolseley Motors Limited (431). A few were converted to two-seat trainers and there were plans for Curtiss to build 1,000 SE.5s in the United States but only one was completed before the end of the war.
At first, airframe construction outstripped the very limited supply of French-built Hispano-Suiza engines. The troublesome geared "-8b" model was prone to have serious gear reduction system problems, sometimes with the propeller (and even the entire gearbox on a very few occasions) separating from the engine and airframe in flight, a problem shared with the similarly-powered Sopwith Dolphin. The introduction of the 200 hp (149 kW) Wolseley Viper, a high-compression, direct-drive version of the Hispano-Suiza 8a made under licence by Wolseley Motors Limited, solved the SE.5a's engine problems and was adopted as the standard powerplant.
About 38 of the late-production Austin-built SE.5as were assigned to the American Expeditionary Force, with the 25th Aero Squadron getting its aircraft (mostly armed only with the fuselage-mounted Vickers gun) at the very end of the war.
The Hagia Sophia reflects on its long history...
The Hagia Sophia was built as an Orthodox Church on the site originally occupied by a pagan temple, which saw two earlier incarnations of the Hagia Sophia, initially called Magna Ecclesia (Μεγάλη Ἐκκλησία) - the Great Church. Both churches were destroyed in Political Riots, remnants of which are still found on the site.
It was Byzantine Emperor Justinian I on February 23, 532AD, who ordered Isodore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles to construct the third and most majestic Basilica of the Holy Wisdom - the Sancta Sapienta, or Sancta Sophia. The selection of a physicist and a mathematician, respectively, indicated the challenge that lay in constructing the largest dome ever constructed. The result was both the last achievement of the Roman Late Antiquity and the first Byzantine masterpiece.
Earthquakes in 553 and 557 caused cracks in the main dome causing a complete collapse of the dome in 558. Isodorus the Younger reconstructed a lighter dome that rose an additional 6.25 metres higher than the original, to reach the current interior height of 55.6 metres. The new scalloped form also allowed the installation of the forty windows around the base of the dome, giving the impression of the dome floating on a band of light.
The Hagia Sophia was captured by Christians during the Fourth Crusade in 1204 under the auspices of Enrico Dandolo, the Doge of Venice, who trashed the interior and left the Basilica to dilapidate. After the Byzantines reconquered Constantinople in 1261, the Basilica was restored and received the four buttresses on the eastern and northern faces. A partial collapse closed the Basilica in 1346.
The fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453 at the hand of Mehmed II left the future of the Hagia Sophia under the control of the Ottoman Turks. As Constantinople became Istanbul, so the once proud Basilica was revived as a Mosque - the Ayasofya. The first minaret was built and a minbar and mihrab were installed in the interior by Mehmed II and most mosaics were plastered over.
In the early days of his illustrious career, around 1567, the great Ottoman architect Sinan saved the Ayasofya. He added two minarets, as well as the Sultan's Loge, but most importantly he restrenghtened the dome against earthquakes, by adding buttresses to reinforce the four triangular masonry corners, the pendentives, which distribute and attach the weight of the circular dome through the ribs of the forty dome windows onto the square base. A massive pier column stands at each corner of the pendentive base to enlarge the sense of space in the enormous open interior. This half cubic roof design inspired and likely enabled Mimar Sinan to construct his greatest works, crowned by the splendid Süleymaniye Mosque.
The madrasah was added in 1739 by Sultan Mahmud I who also ordered another restoration, and perhaps most notably, the picturesque Şadirvan, or ablutions fountain, thus growing the mosque into a social complex, or külliye.
The Swiss-Italian brothers Gaspare and Giuseppe Fossati undertook the most intensive restoration yet of the Hagia Sopia in 1847. Again the dome and its surrounding vaults were straightened as much as possible. The pendentive design had inherently caused the outerwalls to be pushed out by the weight of the dome and the many previous corrective repairs had distorted the dome's original perfect circular form, leaving it somewhat elliptical measuring 31.24 metres by 30.86 metres at the extremes. The pier columns were then straightened and reinforced with steel. These Corinthian columns actually predate the Hagia Sophia, having originally been disassembled and shipped from Baalbek. Each column weighs 70 tons and rises 20 metres with a diameter of 1.5 metres.
Aesthetically, the four minarets were adjusted to be of equal height, the mosaics in the upper gallery were cleaned, but most evident was the installation of the giant discs on the columns, inscribed by the calligrapher Kazasker İzzed Effendi with the names of Allah, the prophet Muhammad, the first four caliphs and the two grand children of Muhammad. Amongst the several Fossati additions to the külliye was the Neo-Byzantine style Sultan's Gallery.
The fall of the Ottoman Empire and the subsequent foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 brought Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to power. In 1935 Ataturk ordered the third transformation of the Hagia Sofia, this time from a mosque into a museum. For the first time in centuries the marble floors were revealed as the carpets were removed, while a an intricate plaster removal process successfully recovered the original Byzantine mosaics.
Today the Hagia Sophia is open to the public, an icon of the ages - from the Romans, through the Byzantines and Ottomans to modern day.

The unusual medieval tracery, although beautiful, doesn't have any load bearing verticals and so is inherently unstable. The central column is a large Victorian buttress, built to strengthen it. Much of the glass is early 14th century and was collected from other windows in the church about 1814. The rose window was designed by William Butterfield who restored the church in 1846-53.
Hand-specimen of asbestiform serpentine ore, also known as chrysotile, one of six minerals currently regulated as "asbestos".
In this example, from a Canadian locality, a seam of silky crystalline chrysotile in rocky matrix demonstrates the inherently fibrous nature of this toxic mineral oddity.
Medieval myth and lore once mistakenly believed the hair-like qualities of asbestos originated from "salamander's wool", then later erroneously thought to be based in the plant kingdom in the 19th-century.
When disturbed, chrysotile asbestos can split into innumerable bundles, often referred to as "fibers", a characteristic somewhat unique to asbestos minerals. Individual unit fibrils of chrysotile are extremely thin tubular crystals or rolled sheet-silicates on the order of microns and angstroms in diameter. Visible asbestos "fibers" can further sub-divide into such small, microscopic particles that they practically become "invisible" and can become airborne.
Inhalation exposures to microscopic airborne asbestos particles have been well documented to cause serious respiratory diseases, cancers, and has been linked to disease-causation in other bodily systems, which can ultimately lead to fatality.

The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: Why the Fibonacci Numbers Exalt Beauty: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after, thusly providing symmetry over not only space but time, and exalting life’s foundational dynamic symmetry. Robust, ordered, symmetric growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in the arrangement of nature’s discrete elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which they and all their vital sustenance, as well as all the flowers and nature’s epic beauty, had been created—the golden ratio.

About 7 years after Japan first staked it’s claim on Mercury and began mining the planet for Magnesium ore in an effort to curb reliance on the Russo-Sino Confederacy, the miners began taking scrap and creating maglev tracks and racing modified mining buggies and carts.
Within 20 years, the planetary pastime was refined and became increasingly dangerous, high tech, and profitable in its own right.
Bleeding edge technology not commonly used for terrestrial race applications became commonplace due to the lack of safety regulations pertaining to anything but the extraction of ore, an inherently risk seeking populace of thrill and adventure seekers now a generation deep.
Usually events were matched in three way heats to extend the festivities over the course of a full Mercurian day, or almost 2 months long on Earth. Pilots could expect to cross between scorching heat and bitterly freezing temperatures making the need for robust propulsion systems and life support systems paramount.
Here we see from left to right a Klandonian MKIV, adorned in spoilers which have less to do with producing downforce in a minimal atmosphere and more importantly work to transfer heat to or from the core of the vehicle depending on daytime or night time racing.
The Titan Industries Marauder is the only design produced from a manufacturer based on Mercury, and it’s record number of podium finishes is there to prove it. With a similarly complex set of veins and spoiler surfaces to mitigate heat and provide what aerodynamic modulation it can, it is slightly more delicate than the rest but otherwise supremely tuned to its environment.
Last in this heat is the Subaru Pleiades - a newly designed introduction from the Japanese automobile manufacturer. Hoping to stake a name for themselves in the fastest growing segment of industry and Motorsport entertainment, their cutting edge design was produced in partnership with Titan Industries but takes bold steps away from the reliance on heat sinks, diffusers, and spoilers, and focuses on a robust more rally like design. Not to be easily outdone, the vehicle shares the same power plant as the competitors but recirculates the heat in an ingenious internal channeling system that primes the fuel delivery system for more powerful combustion less reliant on external conditions and is thusly much more consistently performing in its output.
Events rarely end without one or two pilots meeting a glorious end by nightfall, but the prestige and a chance at the grand prize of a peripheral mining colony is too much for many young miners to pass up.
Here at one of the first officially recognized long distance tracks, Hi Bakudan Raceways (re-named after the tremendous and fatal collision during its inaugural race when it was simply known as The Path) all are expected to survive, but the odds are ever shifting.

In 1092 AD, Chinese engineer Su Song and his crew completed construction of a magnificent astronomical clock- an impressive timekeeping device as ordered by the emperor himself.
The clock was powered by water, which fed from a trough that was kept at a constant height to ensure constant pressure and therefore consistent timekeeping. The water dripped into the scoops of a large water wheel, which consequently lurched forward every quarter of an hour. The motion of this wheel caused a multi-story tower in the front of the clock to turn, creating a loud sound and displaying certain small statues to indicate the hour. Additionally, the water wheel powered a rotating celestial globe on the interior of the clock, which was synchronized with the huge armillary sphere atop the clock tower.
In addition to its inherently impressive nature, Su Song's clock also featured the world's first documented endless power-transmitting chain drive, which connected the axle of the waterwheel to the mechanical device that powered the armillary sphere.
Su Song's machinery has been dutifully recreated (though somewhat simplified due to space and parts constraints) in this model. When the small handle on the rear of the model is turned, the waterwheel rotates, turning a series of gears that causes the front tower to rotate. Additionally, a vertical axle and gear system rotates the celestial globe inside the tower. The endless power-transmitting chain drive has been faithfully included, transferring energy from the axle of the waterwheel up to the rotational mechanism of the armillary sphere.
I had a lot of fun building the internal components, and with a few "bug fixes," that I installed, the machinery works 100% of the time. I took a video of its operation that I will upload when I get the chance.
It's a sunny Friday, May 27, 1988, and the skies have cleared over Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
TerraTransport 929 switches its train of containers on narrow gauge flatcars that have arrived from the east.
TerraTransport 929 and the rest of the railroad's motive power was a fleet of General Motors Division (GMD) NF210 diesel-electric locomotives. Between 1956 and 1960, GMD's plant at London, Ontario built 38 of these three foot six inch (1,067 mm) gauge locomotives for Canadian National Railways' narrow gauge network on the island province of Newfoundland.
The NF210's had a C-C wheel arrangement, with three-axle trucks with all axles powered, and could develop 1,200 horsepower.
When CN spun off its Newfoundland rail and bus operations to TerraTransport around 1980, the fleet of NF210 locomotives – minus two that had been wrecked at Corner Brook in 1966 – passed into TerraTransport's hands.
Though TerraTransport's move to containers streamlined the operation, this railway operation like any other located on an island is inherently inefficient. The inherent inefficiency of narrow gauge was evident to this observer: containers on the island were stacked one to a narrow gauge flatcar, while on the mainland the same containers would be packed two-high ("double stacked") on a standard gauge flatcar.
Once highways were improved and extended to all population centers on the island of Newfoundland, the rail operations had little advantage over road transport. Ultimately, time ran out for the railway on Newfoundland. The entire TerraTransport rail operation ended operation in fall 1988, only four months after these pictures were taken.
When the railway shut down, most of the NF210 fleet was sold to overseas buyers. Several of the fleet – including the 929 – wound up in Chile.

And too, I created some videos highlighting Ansel's use of the golden harmonies. Enjoy!

It's difficult to understand why we are the way way are. Sometimes I feel like I assume too many things about myself; my actions and my past seem to be inherently connected. I want to understand why I do things so I can better control how I act in the future.
I dunno, this all seems pretty narcissistic but I suppose this is a self portrait so some self reflection is required.
Just trying to make some sense out of what goes on in my life.
SET 1 – Horn Lake Target, October 2019 Tour
Spinning around, here’s a look back at the fitting rooms, which basically bridge the divide between women’s clothing and men’s. Women’s intimates are also in the picture, on the right-hand side. Like I mentioned last time – there are no more 90s department signs here; however, I actually think that makes the store look more modern! I mean, I’m biased towards the wavy neon anyway, but I do also think that there is an inherently timeless quality to neon… let me know what y’all think.

"Look at this universe — damaged, broken, disorderly. It needs someone to take care of it ... to take care of everything and everyone, from now until forever."
— Karzahni to Hahli, Dark Destiny
This is Karzahni, the ruler of the hellish land in Matoran Universe, and the namesake of this realm.
Since the time before Time, Karzahni was tasked with repairing the Matoran sent to him from all across the Matoran Universe.
At first he really tried to make a difference for the poor things, but, with time, he realized he simply can't do it. Fueled by his envy for his "brother" Artakha and the maddening visions sent by his Kanohi Mask, Karzahni have slowly deteriorated into a tyrannical sociopath.
The color of his armor, once black and gold, have changed to reflect his madness.
His Kanohi Olisi is the Mask of Alternate Futures. Although not inherently evil or maddening, it was used by Karzahni to show his prisoners the worst possible futures that await them to break their morale. Such visions, in time, took their toll on him as well.
Karzahni's tools are known as Flaming Chains, they are capable of heating up to such degree that they'll still burn even when taken underwater. The chains are also made to channel the power of Kanohi Olisi.

Fox Glacier
Westland Tai Poutini National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
South Island, New Zealand
Another amazing experience I had in New Zealand was the opportunity to hike on a glacier. To see all the different formation up close was insane! I also took my first heli-ride into the glacier. Trying my best to forget that helicopters are inherently unstable and that they do not glide well in the event of an engine failure.
The breathtaking view was a welcome distraction. As we headed towards the valley and the glacier came into view. Unfortunately, the mountains tops were shrouded in clouds and only half of the glacier could be seen. As we landed on the middle portion of the glacier, the guides led us away from the helicopter and to the holding area. As the pilot increased the throttle for take off, the rotor down-wash blew small ice chunks on us. We had to shield our faces from the bombardment.
As the sound of the helicopter rotors disappears, we were given a crash course on how to put on crampons. I have to say that they were pretty comfortable and easy to use. Although, the crampons did tore a small hole in my pants when I was making my way through a narrow ice tunnel. By the way, those black spots you see on the image rocks that was grinded by the glaciers. As the glacier retreats and shrinks, these fine particles gets blown onto the surface of the glacier.
The guides did most of the hard work, cutting out steps for us and keeping us out of danger. They had a wealth of knowledge and was always happy to answer our questions. Glaciers are dangerous places to be in, with shifting ice and crevasses that leads all the way down rock layer below. Rockfall from the surrounding cliffs are also a hazard. Thankfully the ice was fairly stable and we didn't hear or see any ice calving.
The guide for our group was from the states and did some glacier tours out in Alaska. He came to New Zealand for a holiday, fell in love with the place and decided to extend his "vacation" indefinitely. New Zealand does have that kind of attraction to people who enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely return to explore more of what this country has to offer!
