Hope your day is off to a good start? I must admit that this seasons transition period can be a bit boring here in Chicago. I’m struggling to stay motivated lately but I’m excited about new IR season being just around the corner. This was shot with IR Chrome filter. What do you think?

Can fall look good in infrared light? Last weekend workshop was a ton of fun. We kinda closed the season for IR photography till the spring. I met some great people and whether wise the day was a success. I shot this with the wind painted clouds technique for a more dramatic result. What do you think?

How is your summer going? Mine started on very good note and I just came back from a Detroit trip where I had a blast. But before I get to chance to edit some of those shots I thought I should post an image from the Illinois countryside. I had a chance to shoot some landscapes and hang out with some good friends this past week. What more can you ask for. What do you think?

Happy Monday! I recently visited this architectural marvel. The Polk County Courthouse is a stunning Beaux-Arts building. Its majestic exterior and grand interior reflect its importance as a hub for legal proceedings and a symbol of civic pride. I felt that dramatic BNW edit will work the best for this image. What do you think?

Have you wrap it all up? After today all our holidays are officially done. I’m always a bag of mixed feelings at the end. We had fun for sure while they lasted bit now it’s the time to make some plans for the upcoming cold weather. I’m sure you are all excited as I’m 😉 Really looking forward to another vortex. Hope you are having a good day? Stormy weekend morning shot beyond visible light. What do you think?

How does this feel? As promised I will show you another infrared image this time taken with the IR Chrome filter. This is a digital emulation of the once existing IR film from back in the days. I started using IR a few years back just for the BNW images but when this filter came around I really started liking the color combo and decided to try it.. This is definitely not everyones cup of tea but we can all agree that we can all use more color in our lives now days. What do you think

Are you traveling anywhere? I must say that I’m starting to get a bit restless in my town. I feel the need to change the scenery for a sec. Shoot some IR. This is IR frame from our Detroit visit. What do you think?

Did you start to miss traveling? I’m at that state of mind that I need to leave somewhere soon, even if it is just an hour drive away. Looking at all this nature coming to life really excites me. But till some plans are made, taking a quick trip down the memory lane would have to be good enough. What do you think?

Are you in for a tip? This winter is slowly coming to an end, at least we hope so :) The word is out that there is still few snow days left ahead of us so I thought that one more snow shooting tip might come useful. THE TIP: Since almost all cameras will underexpose your image while shooting snow it is safe to manually overexpose your image in most occasions. To be on a safer side I always bracket my exposures, in one step increments, in those situations. What do you think?

Did you notice? Lately some crazy moody weather is shaping our every day lives here in Chicago. It’s been transforming our city in various different ways. It is amazing how with just a little fog and haze different corners of the city that are very easily overlooked become magical. This is one of the frames from the pond at Lincoln Park shot at 8am, 2h after the sunrise. I left the Ulysses S. Grant Monument in the frame as a clue that this is indeed shot in the middle of the city. What do you think?

Hope you are having a great weekend? Let’s kickstart this Sat with some great light from my neighborhood! What do you think?

Happy weekend! The Turner Club in Chicago indeed boasts remarkable neoclassical and Renaissance Revival architecture. Its facade is adorned with ornate Corinthian columns, intricate moldings, and graceful arches. The fusion of aesthetics and functionality in the club's architecture is truly remarkable. I figured that capturing it in infrared could yield fascinating results, bringing a unique perspective to its timeless beauty. What are your thoughts?

How is your day going? I’ve been working for some time on something different for a change. Just to get myself in to a different mindset. I just felt that is time to start posting some other infrared images besides the BNW. I’m really starting to like the subtle 720nm IR look. What do you think?

TGIF right? It’s been highly anticipated this week to be honest. I’m still roaming around the town and looking to shoot some more IR images. It gets me out of my usual routine and that is always a good thing. If you would like to try something different in your photography, what would that be?

Hope you have good plans for the weekend? Foliage is finally back in town and I have plans to start shooting more infrared images. IR chrome is a good start! What do you think?

Hope you are all having a good day? Let’s stay at the river with another post. But this time in the BNW edition. This is the image featuring the newest addition to the Chicago skyline - Wolf Point East and the rest of the Wolf Point vista. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the city! What do you think?

Hope you are all having a great day? Here is my attempt to recreate iconic shot of Chicago. This skyline views are very impressive and I really enjoy spending time here. The idea was to wait for a perfect opportunity to get the photograph I wanted. The plan was to shoot with the infrared camera on a cloudy day so I can get that strong contrast I’m always going for and get those wind painted clouds only possible using Sony’s in camera app or manually blending exposures. I prefer that method because cloud movement looks more dramatic in my opinion. What do you think?

What to do? Another weekend is here and we are brainstorming a new location to photograph fall color. Few ideas come to mind and till we come back with some new images I will leave you with this frame from my recent PA trip. What do you think?

Any big Friday plans? We don’t have one neither but hey, weather is going to be good and we will be out. I guess that can be considered as plan as well. This is a throwback from a last years Feb weekend :) What do you think?

I hope this sends you back in time? Here is the last image, for now, of this Detroit series. This is a beautiful “Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Building. It was designed by architect Julius Hess, and constructed at 1942 West Grand River and Cass as an appropriate structure for meetings and other GAR related activities. This Richardsonian Romanesque-designed building lies on a small, triangular lot on the northwest side of downtown Detroit” (Wiki). We really enjoyed photographing this gem. What do you think?

Can you believe that is already Thanksgiving? I’m blown away at how fast the year goes buy. I hope you all have something special planed for the holiday weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate.

How was your weekend start? We hit it off pretty good this morning here at Belmont Harbor. What looked like it was going to be just a clear start turned into a sun rays show pretty quickly. Every summer I like to come here once on random day and try to get a keeper. No expectations, no planing, just trying to play the cards I was dealt. This year I added IR to the mix. Do you know anything about it? Hidden in a quiet corner of the Lakshore East Park this private school caught my eye a while ago. It was a pleasant discovery and it took me some time to decide how to photograph it. I’m really loving the IR Chrome look for this scene and I’m enjoying showcasing some less familiar parts of this town. What do you think?

Are you ready for this? It feels like scenes like this one might be just around the corner. What do you think?
