Infrared photo of some tombstones at Mt Hope cemetery, Rochester, NY

Infrared of Lockett Meadow, Arizona

Infrared shot with Canon EOS 7D using a 590 nm converted infrared lens with Conversion by LifePixel

A very enjoyable outing to meet up with some fellow 365ers including previous members (my husband) Paul, Margaret (Blue Duck) and her husband joined us too. The weather could have been kinder but didn't dampen our enjoyment. We enjoyed a convivial lunch at The Mill at Elstead after the shoot. I'm happy to arrange another date later in the year for the heather or autumn colour.

I visited the Ringling Museum in Sarasota yesterday. Spectacular property! The grounds there are just amazing.

I thought this row of royal palms would make a striking infrared. I just love how straight and perfect royal palms are.

I'm happy to call this an experiment, and even happier that it succeeded. When I arrived at the Cape Bruny Lighthouse it was still well before dawn. In the cold darkness (with the aid of a small flashlight) I started to plan what shots I would take when the sun's first rays appeared. In my bag was the little converted compact camera I use for monochromatic infrareds.

Infrared light is beyond the visible spectrum and can't be seen with the naked eye or your typical camera. My hunch was that even before the visible sun's rays appeared to my eye infrared might be able to be captured by my converted Panasonic DMC-TZ40 compact camera. So I pointed where I guessed the sun would rise, and the result is reproduced here. In the next infrared photograph you'll see what appears in the lower dark portion of this photo.

It reminds me that even in darkness, when light appears, it cannot be quenched.

An infrared/red shot from the Bluedot Festival last weekend at Jodrell Bank Observatory, colours as they come out of the camera.

Full spectrum converted camera with a Wratten 25A red filter to allow just red and infrared light through.

Turned one of my landscape sunrise photo to simulate infrared shot.

Another infrared image this time processed in a plug in Intensify, b and w strong detail.

The gardens have been planted with deep red pelargoniums so a colour photo will be posted before the summer is over, I'm sure.

Camera is back and full spectrum.

Aechmea fasciata is a species of flowering plant in the Bromeliaceae family. While normally pink in color, through the process of infrared, it has taken on a blue color.
