David Trimeloni retires after 44 years of service as a Soldier and a Department of Army civilian. He received his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1970 and served in a variety of positions from a headquarters commander to an R.O.T.C. instructor to an information systems officer. He retired with 28 years of military service and continued about another 16 years as the information management supervisor with the 41th Theater Engineer Command, Darien, Ill.

CIS has been offering computer science and information technology concentrations with a single CIS degree for three decades and added the cybersecurity concentration six years ago.

Ryan Nave, deputy director of Data Analytics Solutions department for Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Business Systems Center (BSC), and Kathleen Lancaster, director of Data Analytics Solutions department for NAVSUP BSC, speak with delegates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Ministry of Defense (MOD) during a visit to NAVSUP BSC, June 14. The visit served as an opportunity to discuss and demonstrate NAVSUP BSC information technology (IT) and information management solutions with the KSA MOD and Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF). For more than 40 years, NAVSUP BSC has maintained a strong partnership with RSNF to support the modernization of business information systems. RSNF currently utilizes Computerized, Provisioning, Allowance and Supply System (COMPASS), an IT system joint-developed between NAVSUP BSC and the RSNF. COMPASS is a fully automated and integrated logistics system that includes supply, maintenance, technical, and financial processes. It is a single repository for data and supports logistical users at all RSNF locations. NAVSUP BSC provides support for the COMPASS system and training to RSNF COMPASS users.

Steven Coffey received the Outstanding Computer Information Systems Student of the Year award during the Recognition & Awards Ceremony on Wednesday at CSC. “Steven really a mentor to his fellow students,” said Syndi Johnson, CIS instructor at CSC. “He was always there helping the other students. I always consider the phrase ‘you learn more if you teach’ and I think he took that philosophy and ran with it. He was excellent and we’re going to miss him. Coffey is signed up classes at Western Illinois University and will pursue his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.
