The Turkish House, built around 1879, is known as the Bartolich-Gelletich-Nicolaides palace, according to Antonia Bartolich Gelletich from Rijeka, the widow of Captain Tommas Gelleticha.
In 1891, Antonia married the Turkish and Greek consul Nikolayi Nikolai Effendi de Nicolaides who was 22 years younger than her.
The mix of Greek, Turkish and Arabian influences is the testimony to the multicultural and multiethnic Rijeka from the beginning of the 20th century. Nikolaides’s house, redesigned in the Neo-Moorish style, is the only building of its kind in Croatia.

...after last night's event! Went to see Trans Siberian Orchestra in concert at the Orlando Amway Arena. Found that I required a reminder to breathe as the sights and sounds overwhelmed my senses...definitely a 'whole body' experience! Whew.........................!!!
El sábado pasado concluía la última sesión del seminario “Líderes Influencers”, en esta ocasión el título fue: "LO IMPORTANTE ES LEVANTARSE: FORTALEZA". Comenzaban a las 16.30h tomando un café, a continuación tuvieron varias dinámicas de grupo con Pascual Hernández, socio director de Explora, aplicando la importancia de la fortaleza que radica no en caerse, sino levantarse siempre, llegar a los objetivos sorteando los obstáculos y descubriendo las debilidades que impiden alcanzar las metas, la importancia del trabajo en equipo, soluciones más efectivas etc. Más tarde Diana y Mar Quesada, influencers decoradoras de interiores de Tres Studio (@tres_studio), les contaron su experiencia profesional, cómo comenzaron con las redes sociales, primero con un blog y Facebook, más tarde con Instagram, cómo las distintas situaciones de su vida afectaron este ámbito, hablaron de responsabilidad social, de transmitir valores y nos quedamos con la frase “..nosotras llevamos las redes, las redes no nos llevan a nosotras…” más tarde intervino Juan Martínez Otero, autor del libro "Tsunami digital, hijos surferos" les habló cómo internet ha modificado los hábitos de la sociedad, pero en todos lo casos y situaciones que expuso daba enfoques muy positivos y consejos para enfrentarlas, y para que las redes e Internet no dominen su vida. Tras un descanso y después de la Misa vespertina, tuvieron tertulia con Mario Gil, influencer cómico (@mariuslekker), les contó cómo su hermano le animaba, ya que a él le gustaba crear humor, pero no quería desvelar su vida privada, luego se dio cuenta que era una forma de transmitir valores y hacer humor sano y crear contenidos que fuesen dignos de seguir y sin comprometer su información personal. Tuvieron tiempo de hacerles a todos muchas preguntas e intercambiar experiencias.
Damos las gracias a la coordinadora y artífice de este seminario, Zoimer Quintero que se ha dejado la piel con y por los jóvenes, y a muchas personas que han contribuido a las satisfacción de todos los asistentes como María, Ana…etc.
Sobre todo estamos muy agradecidos con otros influencers que desde muy lejos durante los meses que ha durado el seminario, han estado enviando videos, especialmente nuestra gratitud a mons. Munilla, Obispo de San Sebastián que desde el primer momento nos apoyó en esta iniciativa.

My first photography project for my degree in fashion promotion, influenced by London street style.
The Italian architect and engraver Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) was born in Venice. He started taking drawing lessons at an early age, and was primarily influenced by the work of architect Palladio. At the age of eighteen years old, he moved to Rome with an ardent desire to know the Eternal City and worked as draughtsman at the service of the Venetian embassy to the Vatican. In Rome, Piranesi studied engraving under Giuseppe Vasi, with whom he later clashed. An impulsive, ambitious and prolific artist, Piranesi worked in harmony with his time, as he was always drawn to and cultivated the dramatic, the inspired and the spectacular.
As with the work of French architect David Leroy (1724-1803), the technique and art of Piranesi's drawings aim to make an impact the viewer. A strong impression, which it is the artist's duty to convey, is deemed more important than precision in representation. Piranesi is among the most dynamic exponents of Neoclassicism; at the same time, he belongs to early Romanticism as well, as the remains of classical civilisations become the cause of poetic emotion.
Piranesi also visited Naples, where he depicted the local antiquities with passion and admiration, and created several copper moulds of his works. He returned to Venice in 1744, where he refined his engraving skills. It was there that he published his first major work “Carceri di invenzione” (“Fictitious prisons”, 1750, 1761 and 1780). The uncanny as well as evocative spaces of the prisons invented by Piranesi disturb the viewer and constitute a lasting influence on visual artists, writers and architects from his time to the present.
Later in his life, Piranesi returned to Rome, where he worked mainly as an engraver and painter and less as an architect. His “Monuments of Rome”, made a great impact on his contemporaries. In contrast to the contemporary intellectual atmosphere, and while scholars (such as Winkelmann, Ramsey, Stuart, Revett) direct their attention to Greece, which they see as the primary inspiration of Roman architecture, Piranesi sustained that the Etruscans, a people older than the Greeks, were the first to achieve aesthetic perfection. His ideas provoked a debate among European scholars, and opened new pathways to the study of ancient legacy.
The two thousand copper engravings drawn and etched by Piranesi in his lifetime were published posthumously in Paris by his sons, in a monumental edition (1835-1837).

Fransız asıllı mimar Le Roy'nın (1724-1803) sanat anlayışına benzer biçimde Piranesi için de bir eserin başlıca işlevi seyircide bıraktığı etkileyici izlenimdir; çizimin doğruluğu ise ona göre ikinci planda kalır. Piranesi neoklasik sanat akımının en dinamik temsilcileri arasındadır. Aynı zamanda romantik akımın erken dönemini de temsil eder. Romantik akımın erken dönemi, antik Yunan ve Roma kültürünün kalıntılarından esinlenen şiirsel duyarlıkla ilgilidir.
Piranesi Napoli'yi ziyaret etmiş; çizdiği birçok resmin bakır kalıbını yapmıştı. Tablolarında hayranlık ve coşkuyla Napoli yöresinin arkeolojik kalıntılarını kaydeder. 1744 yılında Venedik'e dönen Piranesi gravür sanatında yetkinleşir ve ilk önemli yapıtını yayınlar. Onun bu savları Avrupa yazarları arasında büyük tartışmalara yol açmış ve antik kültür mirasının incelenmesinde yeni yollar çizmişti. Piranesi'nin, yaşamı boyunca çizip yapımını tamamladığı 2.000 gravür, ölümünden sonra oğulları tarafından Paris'te görkemli bir baskı biçimiyle yayınlanır (1835-1837).

Dug way into the past of my archives for this one. Felt like sharing a picture of someone special. This guy is one of the greatest influences I've had in my life, he's helped build me into the person I am today to a major degree. Don't see the guy enough these days, but could certainly stand to suffer his influence. My first creative collaborator.
