Colorful abstract image of various hot air balloons in close proximity during mass inflation, taken at the NJ Ballooning festival in Readington, NJ (July 2022). The hot air balloons are inflated for mass ascension in the early morning for better weather conditions. Image taken with Nikon D7500 using Sigma 18-300mm telephoto lens.

With inflation sending food prices soaring - this male spruce hen is wondering if he will end up on someone's dining table. And yes - he does taste like "chicken".

Not the only isle, or the only store! Interestingly, the stores are spreading out what stock they have on shelves to fill in the space so it does not look as dire. We all know the story about the ga$ price$!

INFLATION FIGHTER FROM UNCLE SAM????

Back alley image from a small Washington State town, that has a key location and is a transportation hub.

"Inflation, tax for the poor, bonus for the rich"!!!

(This quote is generally attributed to François Mitterrand)

It refers to the regressive nature of inflation, the rise in prices affecting, in fact, more the most modest households.

The inflation rates calculated by statistical institutes, such as INSEE in France, constitute averages worked out from the observation of the prices of a standard consumption basket... they thus mask disparities that can be strong between households.

This heterogeneous effect of rising prices on households is linked to the fact that consumption baskets differ from one household to another...

Thus, the most modest households devote a larger share of their budget to food and energy!

However, it is the prices of food and energy that generally drive inflation up 🤔

Inflation can therefore be described as a "tax on the poor", insofar as it further erodes the purchasing power of the poorest households 😟

Full of Hot Air

This photo was shot 17 years ago in Catalunya, Spain. I recently did a re-edit of it and was pleased with the results.

Curries could soon cost £30 and fish and chips up to £20 as restaurants and takeaways pass soaring energy bills and inflation onto their customers - after pub bosses warned of £20 pints and a steakhouse chain says its dishes could reach £100.

Shale Ahmed, who runs an Indian street food company called Saucy Burger, says diners are facing an 'eye-watering impact on prices' as curry houses struggle to survive amid skyrocketing costs.

Speaking at the Farm-to-Fork Food Resilience conference, he described how the industry is in a 'dark place' and warns many businesses will have to close without immediate government help.

Mr Ahmed told the BBC: 'The sector's in a spiral effect and it's going down.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, 2018

It is a couple of hours before sunrise in the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia.

Suddenly the darkness and the stillness of the early morning is broken by the loud roar of a propane gas flame preparing a hot air balloon for take-off with its cargo consisting of its pilot and 22 passengers.

The watching throng of people soon to become airborne in one of the three balloons, all seemingly fall silent as they watch the now three flames inflating the balloons and, whilst it is impossible to know exactly what was going through their minds, it would be safe to assume that the thoughts of most were along the lines of - “I trust this flame knows what boundaries it must not cross.”

What goes up must come down.... Chicago Blues Band

Except grocery prices. It seems that when prices have gone up it is very hard to get them down. I would have never known that if it was not for the upcoming transition team. From the info we heard on the campaign trail, I though it was the Presidents fault.

We have now found out that if a shit load of chickens die, for whatever reason, egg prices go up. America just lost another million chickens to that damn bird flu. Eggs are going up again. But at least we got the message from the transition team that this was not the fault of the new President elect. They found out that Presidents have nothing to do with the price of eggs. Pre Nov 6th was when it was the Presidents fault

The bird flu easily jumps to raw milk if anyone cares about science.

The problem... Most people are partisan and mold their world view around that presupposed premise. Facts are just facts... they have no political affiliation. Facts can only be no partisan. Facts can not be alternative. I mean... what would happen to all those crooked ass liberals if gravity decided that it is now maga?

...where have all the Rs 10 gone?!!

Well a cliched market shot - just a break from shiny happy faces :))
