Celebrated around May by Buddhists which marks three momentous events in Buddha's life - his birthday, enlightenment, and achievement of Nirvana. The celebration begins at dawn when devotees gathering at the temples to meditate on the Eight Precepts. Donations, giving food to the needy, offerings of incense, joss sticks and prayers are carried out. The sutras are chanted in unison by monks in saffron robes. The celebration is highlighted by a candle procession.

Special thanks for our friends at Taschen for the cool catalogs. Taschen publishes many books, including one that focus on art, architecture and design. The Taschens live in Chemosphere, a home designed by John Lautner.

Movies on a Big Screen is an ongoing film festival/microcinema that started in September of 2006 in Sacramento, CA. We appreciate their work in town and enjoyed working with them.

Per the Guild's website, "The Guild Theater in Oak Park was designed and financed by Joseph Lewis and completed in 1915... Originally called the Victor Theater, the building's structure reflected the influence of the Moorish Revival on theaters of that era."
