The Indore-Akola Passenger takes the first brake testing halt in the ghats just after Patalpani. The downhill gradient till Kalakund is quite steep, so each train has to take three brake testing halts in the ghats.

450 odd kms route. It could have taken a better, though longer route, via Burhanpur, Icchhaapur, Malkapur, Akola, Amaravati for better passenger patronage and comfort.

No date or location for this shot of Jubilee 45592 Indore double heading a passenger service with a loco we can't quite identify. By the stock would say this is sometime in the 50's.
The loco was new to the LMS from the North British as 5592 in December 1934 and withdrawn in September 1964. Cutting up was By Central Wagons in Wigan during May 1965.
