T = Thankful
Appreciating how much I have. Health, a safe and peaceful home and country, education, food, access to information and people, family, friends, support, and most of all, love. But the list goes on. It is, at least for me, so easy to focus on that which brings the most pain, and forgetting everything else -- everything that gets me out of bed each morning. There are always those things that I would change if I could, but I know I would be a different person in return. I am who I am; a clay mind molded by my past and present experiences: thoughts, passions, hatreds, acquaintances, interactions, dreams, nightmares, music, films, art, animals, colors; and I am my future desires, hopes, wishes, fears, and so on. I am thankful for all of this.
I am so very thankful for all of you and your thoughtful words, gestures, efforts, when you saw me going through troubled times. I am thankful to have been exposed to your beautiful attitudes, wisdom, and concern. I felt very vulnerable and anxious when I posted yesterday's Sweetly, and I couldn't have asked for any more. I have been grounded, and I feel warm and safe, as though wrapped in a quilt you've all sewn for me. Thank you!
Lastly, I am thankful that I am about to turn 23 (ten days!). Still young, I know; but there are still too many who can only dream of being 23, or being 23 and healthy/safe/in a stable country. Sure, I think American politicians are sleazy and our current administration is shamelessly corrupt. But, having traveled to more countries than the number of years I've lived -- from Ghana to Nicaragua to Israel, and everywhere in between -- I know better than to take for granted what does work and thrive here.
I could go on forever. Instead, I'll end my list here, admittedly incomplete, and on a lighter note: I am thankful for my hawt new glasses. I lurve them. I feel like a female Woody Allen... perhaps Woodette Allen? ;-)

North gate of the Church of Santa Maria, built at the end of 13th century on one old Islamic mosque. Is located in the oldest zone of the City, square of Santa Maria, next to the City council and near the Castle of Guzmán el Bueno, the place known like the Fortress. He is one of the older religious buildings of the population and its rectangular plant is divided in three ships, being the central wider than the lateral ones. The neoclassic cover of its main facade deserves special mention.

Puerta norte de la Iglesia de Santa María, levantada a finales del siglo XIII sobre una antigua mezquita islámica. Se encuentra situada en la zona más vieja de la Ciudad, Plaza de Santa María, junto al Ayuntamiento y cerca del Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno, lugar conocido como la Alcazaba. Es uno de los edificios religiosos más antiguos de la población y su planta rectangular se divide en tres naves, siendo la central más ancha que las laterales. Merece especial mención la portada neoclásica de su fachada principal.

I had some plans for Cannon Beach photographically but most of them needed to be ditched in favour of bed rest to get over the nasty influenza we've all suffered from in the first week of our trip. When I got myself out of bed, I was thrilled that the tide was still low enough for me to get close to the Haystack rock . The milky was was also very high ahead. As a result, I planned to take 2 rows of shots but just as I was finishing up, the water was lapping up against me - I'm not one for too much risk and left it at that rather than stand a further 8 minutes or so in the dark with water getting deeper. I may try to get the milky way on another clear night but probably won't insert it into this shot - strange opinion I have about composites .

Rano Raraku, Rapa Nui, Easter Island, Chile.
Rano Raraku is a volcanic crater formed of consolidated volcanic ash, or tuff, and located on the lower slopes of Terevaka in the Rapa Nui National Park on Easter Island in Chile. It was a quarry for about 500 years until the early eighteenth century, and supplied the stone from which about 95% of the island's known monolithic sculptures (moai) were carved. Rano Raraku is a visual record of moai design vocabulary and technological innovation, where 887 moai remain. Rano Raraku is in the World Heritage Site of Rapa Nui National Park and gives its name to one of the seven sections of the park.
The incomplete statues in the quarry are remarkable both for their number, for the inaccessibility of some that were high on the outside crater wall and for the size of the largest; at 21.6 m (71 feet) in height, almost twice that of any moai ever completed and weighing an estimated 270 tonnes, many times the weight of any transported.
Some of the incomplete moai seem to have been abandoned after the carvers encountered inclusions of very hard rock in the material.
Others may be sculptures that were never intended to be separated from the rock in which they are carved.
