Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a nature reserve in the northwest area of Singapore. It is the first wetlands reserve to be gazetted in Singapore (2002), and its global importance as a stop-over point for migratory birds was recognised by the inclusion of the reserve into the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network. The reserve, with an area of 130 hectares, was listed as an ASEAN Heritage Park in 2003. (Wikipedia)

Looking out over the mangroves towards the Malaysian mainland. This reserve is a lovely peaceful corner of Singapore, with excellent trails, amenities and wildlife. We had an amazing encounter with an otter here and saw several rare or unusual birds as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Osaka Castle, Japan

Osaka Castle is a very impressive structure that is situated in the Osaka Castle Park and is surrounded by a sizeable moat. I visited this castle post-sunset on Monday evening having opted to shoot the nearby little building that is The Sanctuary.

On walking around the moat and into the grounds via the drawbridge, the size of the park becomes very apparent. I personally loved the trees that offered some interest in the image when photographing the castle and the inclusion of the street lights added an extra dimension. I loved the castle and found there to be numerous compositions on offer. I shall definitely be bringing my clients along to this location on my April 2024 Japan photography workshop.

For those interested, Osaka Castle was originally completed in 1586 as a display of power and grandeur by the samurai warlord and ruler of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi after accomplishing his goal of unifying Japan. The impressive castle took only three years to complete, thanks to the hard work of around 100,000 workers. theculturetrip.com/asia/japan/articles/a-brief-history-of...

*****NOTE: I shall be creating a photo workshop/tour for Japan April 2024. If you would like to be one of the first to be notified when the workshop is ready for booking, let me know below*****

G-AVYB is taxiing to Riem’s runway 25 for take-off. This Trident was noted here with Channel Airways several times in 1970 (15 February, 20 June, 14 July), and later with Northeast Airlines (25 March 1972, 18 August 1972) and British Airways (initially in basic Northeast colours, January 1975).

Information from flickr - thanks to heathrow junkie:

G-AVYB c/n 2136 - Trident 1E - delivered new to Channel Airways in March 1968, after just a couple of years the aircraft went to Northeast Airlines in November 1970. Incorporated into the British Airways fleet six years later, the aircraft flew with BA for just four more years, before being withdrawn in August 1980. Sadly, 'YB ended up being broken up in the BA maintenance area at London Heathrow in May 1981.

The Kraków Cloth Hall, in Lesser Poland, dates to the Renaissance and is one of the city's most recognizable icons. It is the central feature of the main market square in the Kraków Old Town, which since 1978 has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wikipedia

Rynek Główny

The main square (Rynek Główny) of the Old Town of Kraków, Lesser Poland, is the principal urban space located at the center of the city. It dates back to the 13th century, and at 3.79 ha (9.4 acres) is the largest medieval town square in Europe. The Project for Public Spaces (PPS) lists the square as the best public space in Europe due to its lively street life, and it was a major factor in the inclusion of Kraków as one of the top off-the-beaten-path destinations in the world in 2016.

The main square is a square space surrounded by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic or Polish parapet decorated with carved masks. On one side of the cloth hall is the Town Hall Tower (Wieża ratuszowa), on the other the 11th century Church of St. Adalbert and 1898 Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Rising above the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki).
