The peregrine's breeding range includes land regions from the Arctic tundra to the tropics. It can be found nearly everywhere on Earth, except extreme polar regions, very high mountains, and most tropical rainforests; the only major ice-free landmass from which it is entirely absent is New Zealand. This makes it the world's most widespread raptor, and one of the most widely found bird species. In fact, the only land-based bird species found over a larger geographic area is not always naturally occurring, but one widely introduced by humans, the rock pigeon, which in turn now supports many peregrine populations as a prey species. The peregrine is a highly successful example of urban wildlife in much of its range, taking advantage of tall buildings as nest sites and an abundance of prey such as pigeons and ducks. Both the English and scientific names of this species mean "wandering falcon," referring to the migratory habits of many northern populations. Experts recognize 17 to 19 subspecies, which vary in appearance and range; disagreement exists over whether the distinctive Barbary falcon is represented by two subspecies of Falco peregrinus, or is a separate species, F. pelegrinoides. The two species' divergence is relatively recent, during the time of the last ice age, therefore the genetic differential between them (and also the difference in their appearance) is relatively tiny. They are only about 0.6–0.8% genetically differentiated.
While its diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized birds, the peregrine will occasionally hunt small mammals, small reptiles, or even insects. Reaching sexual maturity at one year, it mates for life and nests in a scrape, normally on cliff edges or, in recent times, on tall human-made structures. The peregrine falcon became an endangered species in many areas because of the widespread use of certain pesticides, especially DDT. Since the ban on DDT from the early 1970s, populations have recovered, supported by large-scale protection of nesting places and releases to the wild.
The peregrine falcon is a well respected falconry bird due to its strong hunting ability, high trainability, versatility, and – in recent years – availability via captive breeding. It is effective on most game bird species, from small to large.
Cuckoo - Cuculus Canorus
The common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) is a member of the cuckoo order of birds, Cuculiformes, which includes the roadrunners, the anis and the coucals.
This species is a widespread summer migrant to Europe and Asia, and winters in Africa. It is a brood parasite, which means it lays eggs in the nests of other bird species, particularly of dunnocks, meadow pipits, and reed warblers. Although its eggs are larger than those of its hosts, the eggs in each type of host nest resemble the host's eggs. The adult too is a mimic, in its case of the sparrowhawk; since that species is a predator, the mimicry gives the female time to lay her eggs without being seen to do so.
The English word "cuckoo" comes from the Old French cucu and it first appears about 1240 in the poem Sumer Is Icumen In - "Summer has come in / Loudly sing, Cuckoo!" in modern English.
The scientific name is from Latin. Cuculus is "cuckoo" and canorus, "melodious ".
A study using stuffed bird models found that small birds are less likely to approach common cuckoos that have barred underparts similar to the Eurasian sparrowhawk, a predatory bird. Eurasian reed warblers were found more aggressive to cuckoos that looked less hawk-like, meaning that the resemblance to the hawk helps the cuckoo to access the nests of potential hosts. Other small birds, great tits and blue tits, showed alarm and avoided attending feeders on seeing either (mounted) sparrowhawks or cuckoos; this implies that the cuckoo's hawklike appearance functions as protective mimicry, whether to reduce attacks by hawks or to make brood parasitism easier.
The common cuckoo is an obligate brood parasite; it lays its eggs in the nests of other birds. At the appropriate moment, the hen cuckoo flies down to the host's nest, pushes one egg out of the nest, lays an egg and flies off. The whole process takes about 10 seconds. A female may visit up to 50 nests during a breeding season. Common cuckoos first breed at the age of two years.
More than 100 host species have been recorded: meadow pipit, dunnock and Eurasian reed warbler are the most common hosts in northern Europe; garden warbler, meadow pipit, pied wagtail and European robin in central Europe; brambling and common redstart in Finland; and great reed warbler in Hungary.
Studies were made of 90 great reed warbler nests in central Hungary. There was an "unusually high" frequency of common cuckoo parasitism, with 64% of the nests parasitised. Of the nests targeted by cuckoos, 64% contained one cuckoo egg, 23% had two, 10% had three and 3% had four common cuckoo eggs. In total, 58% of the common cuckoo eggs were laid in nests that were multiply parasitised. When laying eggs in nests already parasitised, the female cuckoos removed one egg at random, showing no discrimination between the great reed warbler eggs and those of other cuckoos.
It was found that nests close to cuckoo perches were most vulnerable: multiple parasitised nests were closest to the vantage points, and unparasitised nests were farthest away. Nearly all the nests "in close vicinity" to the vantage points were parasitised. More visible nests were more likely to be selected by the common cuckoos. Female cuckoos use their vantage points to watch for potential hosts and find it easier to locate the more visible nests while they are egg-laying.

Leopards are the smallest of the large cats (to include lions, tigers, and jaguars) and are the most widespread, with subspecies found in Africa and Asia. The profusion of spots helps leopards hide from their prey, breaking up their body outline in forests or grasslands.
Although a powerful and clever hunter, leopards are not always at the top of the food chain. In Africa, lions and packs of hyenas or painted dogs can kill leopards; in Asia, a tiger can do the same. Leopards go to great lengths to avoid these predators, hunting at different times and often pursing different prey than their competitors, and resting in trees to keep from being noticed.
Unlike most cats, leopards are strong swimmers and are one of the few cats that like water, although they are not as aquatic as tigers. They are great athletes, able to run in bursts up to 36 miles an hour (58 kilometers per hour), leap 20 feet (6 meters) forward in a single bound, and jump ten feet (3 meters) straight up.
Leopards have incredible strength and can climb as high as 50 feet (15 meters) up a favorite tree while holding a fresh kill in its mouth, even one larger and heavier than themselves! They stash food up high so other predators such as lions or hyenas can’t get it. This way, leopards can return to eat more at a later time. One leopard was spotted dragging a 220-pound (100 kilograms) young giraffe into heavy brush to hide it. Leopards are usually nocturnal, resting by day and hunting at night.
Stories from both Africa and Asia tell of the leopard’s ability to enter a village and snatch a sleeping dog without being detected. The leopard is a champion hunter and has a variety of stealth attacks that catch its prey off guard. From dropping on prey out of trees to stalking prey at waterholes or in dry grasses, often slinking along on the belly, a leopard doesn’t have a predictable pattern to hunting.

"Tremella mesenterica (common names include yellow brain, golden jelly fungus, yellow trembler, and witches' butter) is a common jelly fungus in the Tremellaceae family of the Agaricomycotina. It is most frequently found on dead but attached and on recently fallen branches, especially of angiosperms, as a parasite of wood decay fungi in the genus Peniophora. The gelatinous, orange-yellow fruit body of the fungus, which can grow up to 7.5 cm (3.0 in) diameter, has a convoluted or lobed surface that is greasy or slimy when damp. It grows in crevices in bark, appearing during rainy weather. Within a few days after rain it dries into a thin film or shriveled mass capable of reviving after subsequent rain. This fungus occurs widely in deciduous and mixed forests and is widely distributed in temperate and tropical regions that include Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. Although considered bland and flavorless, the fungus is edible. Tremella mesenterica produces carbohydrates that are attracting research interest because of their various biological activities.
The fruit body has an irregular shape, and usually breaks through the bark of dead branches. It is up to 7.5 cm (3.0 in) broad and 2.5 to 5.0 cm (1.0 to 2.0 in) high, rounded to variously lobed or brain-like in appearance. The fruit body is gelatin-like but tough when wet, and hard when dry. The surface is usually smooth, the lobes translucent, deep yellow or bright yellow-orange, fading to pale yellow, rarely unpigmented and white or colorless. The fruit bodies dry to a dark reddish or orange. The spores, viewed in mass, are whitish or pale yellow." - WiKi

Plane of this house includes three rooms – a home, a mudroom, a home. Its walls are made of oak-tree sticks on a frame, wrapped by perevesla – bands of twisted straw. The frame is made of oak; the walls are clayed on both sides. The floor is well-packed ground daubed by a layer of clay. The ceiling is also covered with clay. The basement of the house is made of stone bricks. The house is supported by a stone terrace, due to uneven relief. Small gallery is arranged along the both homes. Four-sloped roof is covered with rye straw, arranged stepwise (in karbs). A ground cellar is made under the left home with access from the mudroom. The dwelling is decorated with traditional images of flowerpots and wraps on stove and walls, its floor – with painted grids and knots.

Los Glaciares National Park is in the Austral Andes of southwest Argentina, near the Chilean border. Its many glaciers include Perito Moreno, best known for the dramatic icefalls from its front wall, into Lake Argentino. In the north, Mount Fitz Roy’s jagged peak rises above the mountain town of El Chaltén and Lake Viedma. The park is home to many birds, such as condors and black-chested buzzard eagles.

The famous Balinese island-temple of Tanah Lot seen from the fabulous grounds of the Pan Pacific Nirwana resort which is surrounded by its own golf course. ( Not a very good low resolution photo but thought I'll include this to end my present series on Bali ).

It is found across Europe, east to Western Siberia and south to North Africa; it is sedentary in most of its range except the far north.
The term robin is also applied to some birds in other families with red or orange breasts. These include the American robin (Turdus migratorius), which is a thrush, and the Australian red robins of the genus Petroica, members of a family whose relationships are unclear.

The photograph includes the coastline of Bagnoli, Naples (Italy), which was chosen as the logistics hub and team base for the 38th edition of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup. Imagine the wonder and amazement of the team members who will be able to admire these colors every day as they return at sunset from demanding days of training and racing.
This image includes some editing through the use of NX-D, which is a free photo editing software for Nikon users that offers more functionality and power than ViewNX when processing NEF files. Although the added features are great, the interface leaves much to be desired and takes a bit of getting used to.
On my old laptop, NX-D still seems to process and render images faster than ViewNX and although the rendering speed cannot compare to Adobe software, it also doesn't freeze up and/or pixelate the preview of images after editing like ViewNX does at times (at least in my experience). NX-D does allow you to take the NEF images much further in terms of processing before converting to TIFF format.
The image initially was very dull and suffered from very poor lighting conditions, so I was pleasantly suprised with the amount of detail, colour and contrast I was able to extract from it.
I also used PS and Lr, of course, as well as Nik Software. Many jarring sticks and stalks were also cloned out.

Deseret Peak, at least to my eye on this monitor, is still slightly visible in this photo over the spine of the Oquirrh Mountains.
The LDS General Conference was to begin the next morning across the street from the Salt Lake Temple which is clearly recognizable with its six characteristic spires below. If you're interested taking a closer look in that area will yield a very clear idea of the layout of downtown Salt Lake City.
How to include the tree in silhouette on the right was a tough decision for me. I decided my best route was to give some meaningful sense of where this photograph was taken. Moving further left I quickly lost the context that made it a great environment in my view to begin with. It creates a somewhat unusual feel for me but still I decided it worked for my own taste.

Tufted Titmouse.
Sparrow-sized at 6 inches. Gray above and whitish below with rust colored sides and a gray crest. The "Black-crested Titmouse" is a species found in southwestern Oklahoma and Texas and is similar but has a black crest.
Their habitat includes swampy or moist woodlands, and shade trees in villages and city parks.
They range from eastern Nebraska east to Maine and south to Texas in the west and central Florida in the east.

Between 8 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches in length. Reddish brown above with a white belly. 1 white stripe bordered by 2 black stripes on sides ending at the rump. 2 white stripes on back much thinner than side stripes. Dark center stripe down the back. Pale facial stripes above and below the eyes. Tail brown on tip and edged with black. Prominent ears.
The Eastern Chipmunk's habitat includes open deciduous woodlands, forest edges, brushy areas, bushes and stone walls in cemeteries and around houses.
They range from southeastern Canada and the north-eastern U.S. east from North Dakota and eastern Oklahoma and south to Missisippi, northwest Carolina and Virginia.

El Parque Natural Cañón del Río Lobos, ubicado en las provincia de Soria y Burgos, está considerado como uno de los paisajes más bellos de España por la espectacularidad de su relieve, un singular espacio sobre el eje de un profundo cañón de escarpados farallones.
En su interior destacan extensos bosques de sabinas y pino laricio, además de su riqueza faunística, destacando las parejas de buitres leonados, siendo importante reserva de esta especie, águilas reales, alimoches y halcones. Entre los mamíferos abundan los corzos, jabalíes, ardillas, nutrias, tejones y gatos monteses.
Un lugar donde hacer un hermoso recorrido a pie, que nos dirige entre paisajes a la ermita de San Bartolomé, uno de los enclaves más importantes- y sorprendente en su entorno- de la orden de los caballeros templarios, a partir de la cual podemos contemplar este cañón en todo su esplendor; acompañados en el camino por el río Lobos, con nenúfares flotantes, aguas que aparecen y desaparecen intrigando al caminante. Sin duda, una belleza sin palabras, que solo descubriremos en su visita.
The Cañón del Río Lobos Nature Park, situated in the provinces of Soria and Burgos, is considered to be one of the most beautiful landscapes in Spain, renowned for its spectacular relief, formed by a deep ravine surrounded by sheer walls rising up to rocky peaks.
It is home to dense forest masses of junipers and cluster pines as well as a wealth of fauna, including pairs of griffon vultures. It is also an important reserve for golden eagles, Egyptian eagles and falcons. The mammals include large numbers of deer, boars, squirrels, otters, badgers and wildcats.
This is the ideal choice for a delightful walk amongst spectacular scenery leading us to the Chapel of San Bartolomé, one of the most important’ and surprising due to its setting ’ sites of the Order of the Knights Templar, and from where we can admire the ravine in all its splendour. The trail follows the course of the River Lobos, with its floating water lilies, as the water intriguingly vanishes from sight before suddenly reappearing. Beauty that cannot be described in words, and that visitors simply have to see for themselves.

I'd been eyeing off the red fishing boat for a few days, trying to work out the best composition for it, the best lighting, etc. The red hull was such a contrast to the surrounding white sand and blue water.
I took many shots of the boat, but the little white fishing boat was nearly always in the way - so I decided to include the white boat also. The white boat really rolled in the swell - you'd need strong sea legs to cope with that. Seems they actually go well together anyway ...
