This icy mountain is just below 6 thousand - 5,917 meters. We enjoyed its magnificent image during almost every day on the trek from different perspectives.
View of the Inca Trail, day 1. The Inca Trail is a 4 day hike, although it's a lot easier than you expect. That's because the porters who are with you on the trail do all the hard work - including running ahead of you with the tents, food, ect. Most people (like myself) only carried with them their raingear and water. I even hired a porter to carry my backpack for 3 days, after I realized how friggen heavy my pack was.
After Sayaqmarka ruins I felt like running. I realized it was our last day on the trek, and I wanted to utilize the energy not yet spent. So I started to walk faster and step by step left our party far behind. I even overtook all porters. Normally they move much faster than tourists in spite of heavy luggage they carry. That's why nobody was walking in this unique in a kind Inca tunnel when I was taking the picture.
The trail continues to ascend, passing a small lake named Quchapata (Cochapata) in an area that is recognized as deer habitat. This site had been used as a camp site. As with other sites that were being degraded due to overuse, camping is no longer allowed. The trail reaches the pass at an altitude of 3950 m.

Huayllabamba is another name for Wayllabamba. We were surprised to find out that our camp site was one of about 20 peers.
