A Trilha Inca para Machu Picchu é também conhecida como Caminho Inca e é composta por várias trilhas. Todas elas possuem longos percursos e belas paisagens incluindo a floresta nublada e a tundra alpina. Possui também assentamentos, túneis e muitas ruínas incas que estão localizadas ao longo de seus caminhos.

When you visit Inca Market, take some time to stroll around and enjoy Inca itself. This is a photo of a typical cloisters of a town house that now houses the public library.

Man... we ate a lot... but the food was a BIT spicy... so some of us had ...mmm... problems later. Anyway... dani was complaining the whole trail how ugly she was, and no shower and stuff... we had a small argument... I remember before dinner she went to shower and we were all at the dinning room. She entered, floating, flying, clean, perfumed, and all that stuff girls know how to do... the whole place stopped... ahhahah... I remember like yesterday. I lost that argument. =)

From June 10-13, four days and three nights, I travelled by foot up and down hills for 39km on paths hundreds of years old. It was the Inca trail: challenging, beautiful and amazing. Something I won't be forgetting any time soon. On the third and longest day, right before you arrive at camp you have the opportunity to walk an extra 30 minutes to Intipata, this site of ancient, huge overgrown terraces. They are overgrown (a rare sight for the inca trail) because many hikers can't be bothered to complete the extra 30 minutes. But my god, is it worth it.

INGAPIRCA INCA RUINS - LATE POST

Ingapirca was a site of concentration of the Cañari culture, native to Ecuador, and the Inca culture. This site is a symbol of the dominion of the Incas before the Spanish conquest in America.

Moody sunset during the evening at camp 3 on the Inca Trail

There is an Inca face carved into the side of this hill outside of Ollantaytambo. It is in the perfect position so that the sun hits it exactly on one of the Solestaces.

I took this picture after Matt took the same shot - we wanted to see how we would frame and expose it differently. He filled the frame with rock and I filled it with sky. Both ended up being good shots, though.

Washington, our guide explains the Inca Trail at KM 82

First day on the Inca Trail with Jose, Donna, Sam and Matt

The Inca Trail is a magnificent, well preserved Inca Trail route which connects Machu Picchu with what once were other regions of the Inca Empire, and today it is one of the world’s most popular treks. This four-day walk goes from the highlands of 4,200mts and down through the cloud forests to finally arrive at Machu Picchu - 2,380mts.

DAY 01. - Between 06:00 and 06:30 we pick you up at your hotel in our private bus. Ensure you have your original passport and ISIC student card (if applicable – for a discount on entree fee to Machu Picchu).

The journey by bus to km 82 (the starting point for the Inca Trail) takes approximately 3 hours. Once we get there and are all ready to go, this first day will have us walking mostly through the valley. It starts at 2380m with a small climb to a plateau overlooking the Incan site of Llactapata and rewards you with superb views of Mount Veronica. Walking times are always approximate depending on weather conditions, group ability and other factors, but generally you will walk about 2-3 hours before lunch. Then after lunch we walk on just past the village of Wayllabamba to reach our first campsite at 3000m.

Approx 14km, 6 hours walking this day at Inca Trail.

The mournful calls of the Inca Dove (Columbina inca) were often heard during my stay at the Hotel Bougainvillea in Costa Rica. The calls sound like “no hope” which is repeated over and over again.

The Patallaqta ruins where the Inca Trail first left the Urubamba Valley

The Inca ruins of Saqsaywaman are located outside the city of Cusco and are known by the colossal nature of the great granite rocks up to 30 feet high and weighing up to 100 tons which form its walls (the boulders are placed together with no mortar). The importance of its military functions was highlighted in 1536 when Manco Inca lay siege to Cusco. Much of the fighting occurred in and around Saqsaywaman as it was critical for maintaining control over the city. It's often called a fortress but was also a ceremonial structure composed of plazas, fountains, and underground passageways.

This is not a carving but one of the strange rock shapes the guide pointed out to me when the others had left to continue on the trail.
