These gorgeous birds are found coastally along the shores of Peru and Chile.

This pair were having a rather half-hearted mating attempt !!!

Uncommon in Hawaii, this vagrant Inca tern (Larosterna inca) has been spotted at South Point and, in this photograph, on the Kaiwi coast. This non-migratory subadult (1st or 2nd year) developing its unique facial plumage is believed to have arrived from its native Peru or Chile with a passing storm from the east Pacific.

We found this Inca dove (Columbina inca) at a feeding station behind the visitor center at the Estero Llano Grande State Park. They have not received any water allocation so many ponds that would normally be full, were bone dry. Lots and lots of butterfiies but fewer birds although their Christmas bird count was up.

A couple of inca doves perched on the edge of the bird bath.
