With this tour you are given more flexibility to walk at your own pace and have the guide to yourselves. Everything is done so that the trek is nothing of a 'roughing it' experience. You will only carry a small day-pack (which should include items such as a waterproof jacket, sun protection cream, insect repellent, water and camera) – porters will carry the rest of your personal belongings. In general you will have an all round more personal service!

The Inca Tern, Larosterna inca, is a seabird in the family Sternidae. It is the only member of the genus Larosterna.
This uniquely-plumaged bird breeds on the coasts of Peru and Chile, and is restricted to the Humboldt current. It can be identified by its dark grey body, white moustache on the both sides of its head, and red-orange beak and feet.
The Inca Tern feeds by plunge diving for fish like a Sterna tern. Its call is a cat-like mew.

No mortar! When the Spanish conquered Cusco, Peru, they destroyed much of the Inca stonework and used the stone to rebuild their own structures. Yet, some of the Spanish Colonial buildings are built on undestroyed foundations of Inca craftsmanship. Interestingly, the Spanish buildings fall during earthquakes, yet the unmortared Inca works persevere.

So this isn't an amazing photo, but there are a few interesting things behind it. Cusco is an awesome city, and one thing they are famous for are these ancient stone walls. I was told that this building was a palace for an Inca ruler during the 14th century. The massive stones near the woman are original Inca stonework. When the Spanish conquests came, they tore down as much of the Inca buildings as they could. However, the also saw the amazing handiwork of these builders and used some of the stones as foundations for their buildings. You can see the smaller stones above and around these massive stones. The smaller Spanish placed stones are also in place with mortar (the Inca stonework uses no mortar at all). The Inca stonework with no mortar are much stronger and more stable than the Spanish building, so I’m told. I was also told that the small stone wall on the right side of the photo is actually pre-Incan (I'm not sure if I believe that, but it may be true). See the next picture about the woman in the photo.
Inca Quarry trail or Cachicata are great alternatives to Inca Trail where the difference is because we'll can interact with people of the area and learn the lifestyle of day by day.
