No, I know it isn't the Mersey but Dartmouth I believe..but I that song always come into my head when i see this shot. Plus Hoseasons are bombarding my inbox with what they call tail wagging holidays lol... it is looking increasingly hopeful that we may be able to take a holiday in this country soon but the constant Jet 2 hits on my mailbox are getting the delete button as fast as they come in. No way am I going to breathe in recirculated air or packed into a flying sardine tin. Devon and Cornwall and the Lake district ect are going to be rammed though - so will someone put a word in for me if they know Richard Branson so I get an invite to Necker Island ? My son said he will look after our dogs if we do get an invite..........
The beautiful town of Dartmouth situated on the mouth of the River Dart is one of South Devon’s most popular and enchanting towns. With its charming historic streets, scenic river location and surrounded by South Devon countryside you have to go a long way to find a town as pretty.

Set on the banks of the River Dart, Kingswear village is well worth a visit or a stay to take full advantage of the beautiful South Devon countryside.
I was able to read the marker on the leg and sent the information to the Bird Banding Laboratory. This morning I found a Certificate of Appreciation in my inbox. This tern was banded when too young to fly in the summer of 2011 on Hat Island in the northern part of Lake Michigan. It's just above the letter "M" in "Mich." on the map to the right so this bird is almost home on return migration from the southern US or Caribbean.

Hello Flickr friends, thank you to those who have stuck around during the year I have been gone. I was amazed by all the kind messages that were left in my inbox when I logged back in. My absence has been due to many things but also including a very bad experience with a fellow Flickr user that left me with a very bad taste in my mouth and needing a break. I left, regrouped and had time to readjust the way I look at my hobby of photography. It is just that, a hobby and enjoyment. I post pictures to enjoy and indulge that part of myself that finds fulfillment in the tiny world that the lens of a camera provides. I will never pretend to be more than a avid admirer of Creation. I greatly look forward to finding joy again thru both your lens and mine!:) Warmly yours, Rachel

I didn't plan this photo. I had the brick wall from another photo, where I just experimenting with lighting. I had the wall on a table, planning to disassemble when I noticed window light cast a checkerboard like pattern, via shadows on the table. So built a back wall and assembled some minifigs for chess pieces.
There are things I wish came out better, but I was happy with the serendipity that led to the photo.
