'Do not touch' is the usual warning in art museums. But for Olafur Eliason, who makes art to enhance our senses and restore our contact with nature, feeling and touching are primary goals.
Which may lead to some collateral damage, but who cares?

“…I've been so many times inside that mountain sanctuary, surrounded by the deafening silence of those steep mountainsides, and caressed by a gentle river song. Every time I've felt my smallness; and throwing my stare outside of me, I've just realized the simplest of things: we're little, yet our inner universes are grand as jagged mountaintops.
Morning thoughts. Morning sorrow. Trifles. T/hereness.” Lumase

'Stardust Particle', 2014 by Olafur Eliasson.
As the 'particle' slowly rotated the shadow created a mesmerising effect. It also reminded me of the Death Star from Star Wars.......
This is another photo from the Olafur Eliasson 'In real life' exhibition currently on at Tate Modern. It ends on January 5th and I can highly recommend it for anyone looking for something interesting to do over New Year.
If the £18 ticket price is a bit steep for you post-Christmas you can actually see several of the 40 exhibits, including this one, for free as some of them are located outside the Exhibition entrance.......

From the Tate website : "In Eliasson’s captivating installations you become aware of your senses, people around you and the world beyond.
Some artworks introduce natural phenomena such as rainbows to the gallery space. Others use reflections and shadows to play with the way we perceive and interact with the world. Many works result from the artist’s research into complex geometry, motion patterns, and his interest in colour theory. All but one of the works have never been seen in the UK before.
Within the exhibition is an area which explores Eliasson’s deep engagement with society and the environment. Discover what an artist’s perspective can bring to issues of climate change, energy, migration as well as architecture."

An immersive installation by Olafur Eliasson - Din Blinde Passager - at the Tate Modern, London. You can see about 1.5m ahead of you as you walk through the fog filled 39m corridor. The fog is made from water-soluble fog fluid which contains non-toxic polyols, a sweetner often used in food production.

...what with the clear skies, and the lamplight. For MSH.
Astonishingly, we had two dry days. At a weekend. Anyone would think it was summer.

my hair was once straw straight
uncooked spelt spaghetti
sticking out of my still-expanding scalp
bangs got cut in the bathtub
bare feet flat on the cold smooth enamel, yellowed and dull
like old people's teeth
shiny black-handled steel scissoring across my nape
nicking ears, gently
shivers snaking down my arms
at the unexpected heat of my mother's hand
even now
i start when someone touches my hair
the brushing, the pulling, the braiding
skin on scalp
my hair and i have reached an understanding
it took years, but we got here
i used to hate it for singling me out
carrot top
when all i wanted was to slink away
sinking into stiller waters
where boats didn't rock
my hair was mousy back then, like my spirit
hiding from the brunettes and the blondes
but puberty beckoned like a bully on the jungle gym
thickening my hair with knotted curls of fear
an ex-stepmother tried to tame it with corn rows
i don't want to talk about it
then, michael capozzola
ninth grade social studies, period two
learning about the kalahari bushmen
and listening to regatta de blanc
he called me "red"
and i let him
my permission was a gift given freely
like the dogwood blossom i put in bernie kopitzke's trumpet case
he was the only one
who was allowed
as i got older, it grew on me
and i let my hair grow wild
wilder than i'd actually allow myself to be
kinky and unruly
a girl skipping rope
needing approval from no one
