Cette tour qui prend la forme d'un beffroi octogonal mesurant plus de 30 mètres de hauteur. Cette tour est le seul vestige l'église conventuelle des dominicains. Le terme Jacobin fait référence à l'ordre des prêcheurs installé initialement dans un couvent à Paris. C'est dans la première moitié du XIVe siècle, que les dominicains s’installèrent à Bagnères-de-Bigorre. Par l'intermédiaire d'un couvent situé hors de la ville, l'implantation sur le présent site, fait suite au pillage de leur couvent sur les ordres d'Henri Trastamare en 1367, durant la guerre des 100 ans. Il fut alors construit cette tour et une église pour la communauté. Cette tour était plus modeste à l'époque et surmontée d'un flèche d’ardoises. La fourdre frappa cet édifice au XVIe siècle en même temps que des vagues d’épidémies de pestes sur la ville.

It was then built this tower and a church for the community. This tower was more modest at the time and surmounted by a slate spire. The fur struck this building in the 16th century at the same time as waves of plague epidemics hit the city.

La mission San Francisco de la Espada (ou plus simplement Mission Espada) était une mission catholique fondée par les Espagnols près de San Antonio de Bexar au nord de la Nouvelle-Espagne en 1731. Les religieux qu'elle abritait devaient évangéliser les Amérindiens et consolider la présence espagnole face aux prétentions coloniales françaises. Aujourd'hui, les bâtiments font partie des quatre missions appartenant au Parc national historique des missions de San Antonio (Texas).
Les Espagnols fondèrent une première mission en 1690 dans l'est du Texas actuel. Elle se trouvait sur le territoire des Indiens Nabedaches qui réservent dans un premier temps un bon accueil aux frères franciscains. Une épidémie de variole s'abattit sur la région durant l'hiver 1690-1691, tuant quelque 3300 Indiens. Les Nabedaches crurent que les Espagnols avaient apporté la maladie et commencèrent à se montrer hostiles. Les étés 1691 et 1692 furent marqués par une sécheresse et les Nabedache souhaitaient de plus en plus le départ des Espagnols. Les moines décidèrent de quitter les lieux et mirent le feu aux bâtiments de la mission avant de revenir à Monclova.
La mission fut refondée dans la même région le 5 juillet 1716 sous le nom de Nuestro Padre San Francisco de los Tejas. Mais cette dernière fut à son tout abandonnée en 1719 à cause du conflit qui opposait la France à l'Espagne. Une nouvelle implantation fut tentée le 5 août 1721 (mission San Francisco de los Neches). Elle fut ensuite déménagée provisoirement le long du Colorado en juillet 1730. Finalement, les moines vinrent s'installer dans la région de la San Antonio River en mars 1731 dans une mission qu'ils appelèrent San Francisco de la Espada. Là, il entreprirent notamment de procéder à des travaux d'irrigation, réalisant l'aqueduc d'Espada, la main d'œuvre étant fournie par les amérindiens1. Un couvent fut construit en 1745 tandis que l'église fut terminée en 1756.

Dans le quart sud-est du département de la Dordogne, en Périgord noir, La Roque-Gageac est une commune située principalement en rive droite de la Dordogne. Walking around Brockton MA, overwhelmed with memories from my youth. Spotted this old tricycle and immediately identified with it as maybe something from those old days, but then noticed the "Made in China" stamp, so it was an item manufactured to imitate some vintage object, and yet it too is rusting and unusable. Even our prefab fake memories are getting long in the tooth.

ღ Le château de Saint-Ilpize fut la résidence pendant plus de 150 ans des Dauphins d’Auvergne. Il ne reste, aujourd’hui, que d’imposantes ruines.
ღ Seule la Chapelle du Château, bijou de l’architecture romane, en pierres volcaniques avec son clocher à arcade à deux baies a retrouvé son éclat grâce à une rénovation faite sous la houlette des Monuments Historiques, terminée en 2001...
ღ L'origine du nom de dauphin d'Auvergne vient du fait que la femme de Guillaume VII, Marquise d'Albon (v. 1115-1196), était la fille du comte du Viennois Guigues IV, dont le surnom, ou le second prénom, était Dauphin.
ღ Le fils de Guillaume et de la Marquise fut également prénommé Dauphin, en mémoire de son grand-père.
ღ "Dauphin" est un prénom rare, mais attesté au Moyen Âge.

Whilst having a delve into my PCB drawer the other day I found one from the ever awesome Mart Barras, which he very kindly posted to me a while back. Cheers again fella.
This one is extra special as its level of light transmission is so good and the patterns contained within are beautiful.
An idea came to me whilst watching a music video from Thom Yorke where his face is superimposed on a very android, humanoid form whilst it explores a Martian terrain.
I needed a bit of help from Lauren in firing the shutter and turning off the kitchen light before the exposure started. This ensured my hand position was bang on.
That was on tripod 1 with the Nikon 20mm on the camera. Tripod and lens swap to the Minolta 50mm on the macro tubes. Pointing at the PCB, under-lit by a torch so as to just illuminate the area of the board which I though looked best.
Looked better in mono and so it was.
Single long exposure shot in complete darkness.

Beach grass implants, installed throughout the dunes is hope for restoration of the dune barrier, but the sea is a mighty force. Even what Nature has planted, and what has had deep masses of roots down for over a hundred years cannot stop the advance of the sea.

The exciting events on Vandos Prime left the legion exhausted. So as such, Sergeant Jester sent us to a less demanding post...or so we thought.
The mission started simple, just corral the locals. The Correlian workers party seemed to have done something behind the Republic’s back. Riots were popping up all over the holomap. Most of the 253rd got sent to the shipyards to stop the increasing riot activity creeping towards the shipyards. We needed those shipyards, and bad. The Republic’s Galactic Navy was suffering in the Starfighter department. Many losses above planets such as Agamar and Aeos Prime, had weakened the Republics strength.
Really, we were fighting for the entire Republic, for our brothers in the skies, space and beyond. I hoped my brothers in arms realized this. I really did, these guys seemed more driven by violence than actual goal. But I forgave them, they were my brothers after all.

The gunships made a quick landing in some of the shipyards to let the legion off. Looking across the skyline I could see ware houses and massive mechanical structures. But more specifically I could see the other sergeants and lieutenants jumping off their Gunships with such purpose and drive. They looked amazing, fighting for a cause they’ve always believed in. My mind drifted towards thoughts beyond the visor, beyond the Republic, but only for a second as Sergeant Dagger’s armored hand came down on my left shoulder pauldron. Surprised I reached for my vibroknife attached to my chest plate. Then I heard the words:
“Hey, hey calm down CT-1287.”
“It’s Redwing.”
“Yes of course. My bad, are you alright sarge? You seem...on edge.”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” I grudgingly said. I had forgotten where I was or where my head was rather and thanked Dagger for the check in. We clasped hands and bumped chests, ou pauldrons clanged as we released.
We jumped out of the Gunship simultaneously and clattered to the ground. Our armor wasn’t as silent as it had looked from a distance. We parted ways and wished each other good luck. Dagger was going head on into the riots, my squad and I would find our own problem to deal with.
