The RiverKings Tour stopped in the Magic City recently to bless fans with the infamous music of Alfred Banks x Marco Pave x Q Dot Davis and many of their friends.The seven city tour seems to bring a unique sound for every stop. In Birmingham, audiences were exposed to Christian Rap, Spoken Word, Controversial Hip Hop and more. The tour stop address a number of social issues ranging from mental illness and Domestic Violence. Music fans of every genre found a space to enjoy during the show. Next stop on the tour is Memphis. The Memphis show is slated to bring the two rising music icons together with a full symphony orchestra to perform some of their cult classics. Sauce is all I can say to that.

" In my experience, making art has always been a natural process like breathing - except on a longer time scale. The first part of your artists life is spent 'inhaling' all that is relevant to your work from the world around you in order to build up a repertoire of subjects, and learning various vocabularies which can best express them. After this phase the really interesting part starts: where you can begin to 'exhale' all that you have absorbed in your art, the emotions and experiences you have accumulated in the course of a life time.
Now that I am in my second phase, I have the ability to draw from each period the most important aspects which can use in my current work, to perfect them. It's a kind of Proustian 'remembrance of things past', where in memory, the event or subject is distilled and crystallized stripped of everything but its essentials. Both, fantasy and real life experiences, are part of my memory and influence me in my painting style and colour"

“ Well Reverend, I don’t know if Public Education can Work… Then Come Down to See What Mrs. Hope is doing!” (Statement Made By Reverend Sharpton during his message today)
Wenonah High School closed out its annual Black History Month Celebration with a message from controversial civil rights leaders, Reverend Al Sharpton. Sharpton embodied a powerful anointing from the moment he touched the stage and for the duration of his timely message. Sharpton touched on topics that many are afraid to address such as charter schools, immigration, prison reform, gun control and parent-child communication.
Hosted by the Wenonah High School Culinary Arts Department (Diann Pilgrim, Instructor), the audience was treated to an elegant breakfast prepared by the students in the program. Reverend Sharpton commended the program and the school for helping to ensure that students are equipped with a trade that can support them after graduation.
The spirit of unity resonated throughout the building. Many left the Wenonah High School gymnasium with a renewed commitment towards the work of social justice and equality.
