Last year, I started Christmas gifts for some friends, and then, with the birth of my first grandson, I didn't have time to finish them. I am happy to say, that only one year late (lol), I have finished Kathy's gift.
Kathy had a Marx Imagination Dollhouse when she was little, so I decided that her Kathy doll needed one, too. I thought it would be fun to reveal the gift here before sending it to her. Now it's onward to finish more gifts! :)
We "installed" the beginner pack of the Imagination Playground in Kidspace (our gallery for children five and under) this morning! This fun set of shapes allows for imaginative group play and creativity without boundaries. Kind of like playing with boxes and packing foam!
So I imagine my heart with you
See what imagination can do
It's not hard to conceive
Love ecstasy imagining you with me

Journey into Imagination... with Figment
A whimsical look at how our senses play a part in our imagination with Dr. Nigel Channing and a cute purple dragon named Figment as our guides!!
Wander through the queue and see part of the Imagination Institute. There is a portrait gallery of Inventor of the Year winners, which includes Dr. Channing, Dr. Wayne Szalinski (Honey I Shrunk the Audience) and Dr. Brainard from "Flubber."
The colors become much brighter as you enter the loading and unloading zone. Slow moving red vehicles (similar to tose on Spaceship Earth) crawl by as you move from the moving ramp into the vehicle. There are 2 rows and both can comfortably seat 2 adults or 2 adults and a child. A large adult may want to sit in their own row. The back row is slightly wider than the front row.
Once inside the vehicle, Dr. Channing begins to provide an overview of your Open House experience and it's here you get your first glance at Figment! Travel through several "labs" that study our senses and how they are intertwined with our imagination --Sight, Sound and Smell. One never gets to Taste and Touch, as Figment - well - he has other plans for the "Open House".
There are special effects, we are dealing with our senses afterall, so be prepared especially for the sense of Sound and Smell

Portola Valley kids had a great time playing, building and creating with the Imagination Playground during our Tricycle Music Fest Concert!
I watched the movie Hook (a great movie by the way) today and realized my little brother needs to stop playing video games and start using his imagination more. So we build this sweet blanket fort and flew around the galaxy killing aliens in our spaceship. It was awesome!

DAY 3: Imagination
Today's image of some clothing pegs (pins) is a tribute to the powers of imagination children possess.
Toy manufacturers would have us believe that children must have the latest, the brightest, the biggest and the best of everything - because after all merchandising opportunities must be squeezed dry for the sake of the balance sheet. While such manufacturers toys can and do help children have fun, using imagination has a big part to play in childhood. The imagination of a child is so inventive that what adults would view as an empty space or an item simple and mundane, can be transformed into a never ending vista of adventures and fantasies.
Go back many decades and children would not have had so many toys and making their own games or using their imagination would have been necessary. Everyday objects around the home would have assumed a different role as children acted out their childhood games.
One example of this can be seen here with today's challenge entry. To adults they may look like simple pegs for putting washing on the line, but to a child they are lots of things. In the hands of our three year old little boy these pegs have been imaginary slices of apple-pie and cherry-pie, cakes and biscuits. When Mummy is baking something in the oven out come the pegs and he copies activities Mummy is doing. On another occasion he read about a baby in a book and out came the pegs and a cot for the baby was constructed, with the aid of a clean margarine carton. Our little boy has lots of toys, but it’s interesting how other things too have a role during his playtime.

Captured by one of Figment's Cast Members, my Mom & I look up to our past - into the darkened yet still beautiful Journey Into Imagination Pavilion Atrium (i.e. inside those stunning glass pyramids). My earliest memories took place in this building and under those panes of glass. This was as close as we got to getting to go upstairs ...

This is a quick video I did on how to improve your imagination. Imagination is the most powerful form of thought there is. People imagine negative outcomes in their life and they see it happen.
I want to share with you here a visualization technique on how to make for a stronger imagination through the process of deconstructing objects.
If you find value in this please share. Thanks. After that connect with me on Facebook.
I can easily tell how this photo was taken and where, but i thought it would be more interesting if I let you use your imagination and tell me what do you see.
So why don't open your senses and thing about anything. Write down your first thought.
Please, no awards, invitations and images in the comments.
