Thanks for stoppin' by, a little memento from our trip to Black Creek Pioneer Village last summer. It's like stepping back in time to relive the days of early pioneers who settled this land two hundred years ago. On this occasion, it was the re-enactment of the year 1812, a time of tension between two neighboring nations, each ready to wage battle in order to reign supreme.
In this scene, the Informant is foretelling of a large enemy troop movement on the other side of the river, just south of the village, certainly a sure sign of confrontation.
The rest of course is history.

According to Duke Ellington, one of the greatest band leaders of all time, The Big Band Theory is… “it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing”, the perfect theory when it comes to music, don’t you think. No matter what genre, it’s got’a swing, it’s got’a have a groove. Perfect indeed, works for me.
About the picture, what a class act, what a superb voice with all the right moves. Like I’ve said before, there is always that special someone that stands above the rest and she certainly got my attention. Wonderful performance, bravo! And the band “swung”, they cooked in fact, the place was jumping, people were dancing to some the greatest hits by the biggest names of that era.
They played; Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Ella Fitzgerald, Gene Krupa, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Billy Holiday, the list goes on.

Edith Cavell is celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides without distinction and in helping some 200 Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium during World War I, for which she was arrested. She was subsequently court-martialled, found guilty of treason and sentenced to death. Despite international pressure for mercy, she was shot by a German firing squad. Her execution received worldwide condemnation and extensive press coverage.

Once again, the Festive Season is upon us, the perfect opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and Wonderful Holiday Celebrations with family and friends.

Just had to share this. We went out Christmas shopping, well actually, Christmas window shopping, to get some ideas, I can never decide and always leave my buying to the last minute. But once my mind is made up, I’m rarin’ to go, I become a total shopaholic for a day. I look at it as an adventure, as I do most things in life.
I usually wait for the first big snow storm to hit the big smoke when the malls are empty, stores are empty, sales people bored to death just waiting for someone to walk through the door. I have had some of the best customer service experiences and met some of the nicest, most interesting people along the way. It has become a ritual for me to get it all done in one outing.
Ok ok, enough about me, back to the picture. We took a break from the maddening crowd and stopped for a Timmies, that’s Tim Hortons for those who are not familiar with one of our Canadian coffee traditions and addictions.
On our way out, there she was, decked out in her Santa hat, strutting along. Fabulous, what a find, time to pull out my toy, simply can’t miss this. I was lucky to get a few snaps but thought this one was most appropriate. A deep breath, a last moment of peace before entering the Arena.

Every year, at about this time, I get to ride along with Santa and the crew to check out his latest red machine the elves meticulously prepared during summer months. I must say this year's model has a lot more deer power under the hood, it's a rocket ship, this thing flies. We always do a trial run in Stealth Mode before the big day so that Santa doesn't have any surprises en route, he's way too busy meeting all the kids, delivering presents.
The crew installed a whole lot'a new stuff this year. They added a tuned quad-exhaust and upgraded the stereo to 7.1, complete with Bluetooth headsets, WiFi plus video calling via skype, cool. They strapped on a new supercharger and connected a bunch of other electronic goodies which put a huge smile on the big guy's face. He too loves toys. He's really just a big kid at heart.
Anyway, when we left Toronto, we circled the CN Tower a couple of times and headed out over the lake, straight to the Big Apple. We were there in no time. After a few loops ‘round Lady Liberty, we flew out over the Atlantic. Next stop; London. We dropped in to visit Big Ben for a cup'a. Nice chap. Always good to see the ol' man. After that, it was on to Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Rome, Budapest, Cairo, Hong Kong, Tokyo, you get the idea. We visit every city, village, town and country and if I didn't mention yours, I apologize, the list is endless.
And great big special thanks to the elves responsible for designing, engineering and fabricating this mechanical wonder each year, they call themselves; “The munchelfkins Pit Crew”. I'm not sure why they picked that name, but hey, it's their team, they can name it anything they want. They are, after all, the number one pit crew on this planet and deserve the right to be recognized in any way they want. In their history of serving the big guy, they’ve won many inter-galactic championships, received countless awards for their expertise and had only one minor mechanical issue which did not in any way prevent or interfere with Santa's Christmas mission.
So here’s a big bravo to the munchelfkins. Great job, you've really outdone yours'elves. ha!

What an amazing talent. Bravo young lady, you are a rising star.
Hi everyone, great to be back, thanks for stoppin’ by, always enjoy our visits. Yet another awesome festival with brilliant sunshine and great music on the beach. It just gets bigger and better and this year we celebrated the 26th annual event with record attendance, a most diverse lineup of performers and thousands of music lovers converging from all corners of the globe.
There were many superb acts to please everyone’s taste in music, everything from traditional jazz to blues to big band to modern interpretations, personally, I love’m all. But as I’ve said many times before, there’s always that special someone that stands out from the rest, and she certainly captured my attention.
A rising star indeed.

“What is it all about?”
People ask us about GIG, about Paul Jaisini, about invisible art — what are we or what is it — but we opted not to talk about it or ourselves ever since its inception three decades ago. We prefer that people do the proverbial legwork of finding out themselves because…people these days are smart enough and can figure things out for themselves without us needing to spell anything out or shoving any specific knowledge down your throats. It should be people’s own decision to make whether they want to know about it or not. We just give a name or vague caption, that’s it, and let others do the rest. There are many names of things I hear that I don’t care to know about. Who am I to tell you what you should or should not know. You can decide that for yourself just fine. In our philosophy, art is about discovery, enigma, uncertainty, puzzles, mind games, WTFs…like unearthing bones and discovering new, unknown species, for instance. One could consider GIG to be an artistic form of archaeology, particularly the ideas behind it, the philosophy that drives it. There are bones a-plenty to be dug up in the GIG-verse…whether you want to get your hands dirty is all up to you. And that’s what it’s all about.
